I've hated ads all my life. I don't know how it started, but every time I have to take it, I will mute the volume and turn away from the screen. I don't let any ads enter my mind. As a result, my friends always seem to know all the cool events or things to buy that help you in the daily life or especially ideas for gifts, which I struggle a lot with. It's especially more pronounced since I got a better job and I could actually afford to buy more and better things. I'm still super reluctant at the moment, and I can live just fine outside of this consumerism culture, but sometimes it makes me think, if I should give in to this crazy world, even a little.
If you prefer apple over android or vice versa and you cannot point to exact reasons why, you are a victim of advertising. This is with everything by the way. Learn the skill of critical thinking and realize that every advertisement is not only promoting a product it is attempting to circumvent your critical thinking skills. Good luck out there, and remember question everything.
I am NOT an angry person. Ads piss me off a lot though.
Car ads: you'll get so much p*ss in this overpriced death trap! ADVENTURE! FREEDOM!! WERE SO ECO FRIENDLY MY GUY!!
Me: I literally ride my bike or walk everywhere. I don't care about you at all.
Insurance ads: we offer comprehensive coverage! So cheap*! Look at this dog in our advertisement!!!

Me: Well, my state offers basic insurance that costs half of you and most doctors are in network. Also...my job chooses my main insurance so??? Why are you advertising to me?
Food ads: BEST. FOOD EVER!!!
Me: it looks nothing like that and comes frozen. I know you heat it up in plastic bags or the microwave. I cook for myself anyway. It tastes how I like??? Every time??? Go away.
I joined this group to maybe look for more ways to fight the system, but it doesn’t seem to be very active. I completely understand that a ad supported system doesn’t want to advertise an anti ad group. I follow r/pihole for so anti ad things and I follow r/ZeroWaste and r/Anticonsumption for other methods.
Never pay to access news. News should be free and someone has that information for free in some form or another.

Anyone aware of a solution to block ads on the TV?
I'm talking about regular TV ads, not anything specific to smart TVs. I thought of some kind of HDMI box that comes between my TV and my box, that would detect when ads run, and displays some alternative content.
But can't find anything on Google...
The Super Bowl is an advertisement convention
I can’t speak for a time before I was alive, but as I see it advertisements will convince you that you need something. Most of the time it is something that you would never have even wished for but now here’s a new idea from people whose only desire is to get your money. I know it might sound dramatic but I get pretty tired of dealing with other peoples ideas bouncing around my head. Does anyone else feel a bit bombarded with ideas and thoughts that you’d never have without our black mirror to deliver them?
I pick up my phone. Ads. I cut on tv. Ads. 90% of my calls. Ads and scams. The comments on reddit. Ads. I swear to fucken god. I'm so fucking tired of it. Ads everywhere ! I HATE IT!!!! UGGHHHHHH
I found an extension called "SponsorBlock", that lets you skip sponsored content within YouTube videos. You can help add sponsored sections of videos to the database, or enjoy the commercial-free experience (esp. if you're already using an adblocker). You can whitelist channels that you want to support. Here is the link: https://sponsor.ajay.app/
Enjoy :)
That right. I hate ads. I don't want to see ads ever. I ignore TV commercials and fast forward them. I report all Facebook ads as Spam. I turn the volume off and refuse to look at ads on YouTube. If I find a product is heavily advertised and its ads are annoying or pop up all the time on the Internet or TV I do not buy the product if there is any viable alternative. A good product will stand on its merits and does not need TV commercials and pop up ads.
