This a boutique subreddit dedicated to the anomalous. This includes everything from Bigfoot, UFOs, Conspiracy Theories, Fringe science, Lost Civilizations, Forteana, as well as mainstream scientific discoveries that are unusual. This is not a comprehensive list. Anything anomalous is fair game to post. However, we would like this sub to be a bit more in-depth and thoughtful. To that end we encourage interesting articles.
Rules
ALL link posts must be accompanied by a Submission Statement (comment on your own post). All link posts must have a submission statement that describes the link and the reason it is anomalous. Posts that do not have a submission statement will automatically be removed.
No UFO videos that are dots in the sky. UFO video posts that are just dots in the sky are not allowed. There is one exception. If you shot it yourself and can give context to the video in a submission statement, describing how the OP experienced the event, an exception will be made.
No Fiction. While we love good strange fiction and some of the posts here may be accused of being "fictional", this is not a sub for user-created fiction. Such posts will be deleted.

Sedentary Yellow Light In Sky Completely Disappears
The photo doesn’t do it much justice it was relatively large and bright and non-moving and I was driving, plus I have an iphone (shit camera). I am very sure that it’s not the moon or sun, the direction I drive to work wouldn’t allow for that kind of viewing if it was. By the time I went under and completely through the bridge it had disappeared and I was on the turnpike going 70-78 mph. Anyone know what this could be?!

Weird thing happend at the river.
Hello everyone! So I just talked with my brother and he reminded me about something that has happened about 18 years ago and I still don't know what to think about it. Neither does he. So he was around 16 years old at the time and he and his girlfriend went to the river in a small town where we're from. It was a summer holiday time, the day was hot and sunny and the river was very shallow at that time. Water reached to your knee level maximum. They were walking in the shallow water and talking when all of a sudden something formed an extremely high speed vortex in water. It didn't seem to come from a distance it seemed to form next to them and it set off at very high speed (faster than anything can move in water according to my brother) and disappeared behind a curve/bend of the river. His girlfriend had both on their phones in her purse. A second after it happened his girlfriend said to him "why are you calling me?" But his phone was in her purse, locked and it was somehow calling her phone. Remember it was before touchscreens were a norm, so they were both button operated phones. They got scared and just left the scene. My brother isn't a person to make a story up and it was the only unexplained event like that he's ever had. I remember them coming back home and telling me the story, both pale and weirded out. He still gets goosebumps speaking about it and I'm extremely curious what could have happened there. Has anyone ever heard about something similar? Thanks!
