Good Morning,
What are we anticipating...on and off the field?
Talk about whatever you want.
This is an ideal thread for you to make general inquiries about things that are commonly asked, like how is the shade on the East stand at 3pm? Or where are the ADA bathrooms? As well, low effort posts can be directed here as comments in order to keep sub organized and conversation centralized for other users. Consider this the Town Square, or AngelCityFC Reddit's very own Starbucks.
What do we think? She's a good forward who scored goals at USC? Or am I just seeing her train with Hamm and Sarah Gorden and putting 2 and 2 together?

Nice profile on Kennedy from the Sporting Tribune: Fuller wants more after rookie year
I read a rumor in this community that Girma is going to Lyon. What other rumors are afoot? Especially in regards to ACFC signings?
And yes I know it’s all just rumors and you never know. But just for fun, throw out what you have heard.
With a key free agency window closed here's how ACFC's current roster compares to the rest of the league. Details here.

The Equalizer profiles Alyssa and other forwards beyond Triple Espresso. USWNT forward depth: Who provides the extra shot after Triple Espresso?
Alyssa Thompson — Left-winger
The Angel City winger had some of her best games in a U.S. shirt this window, especially with her performance against England. A quick and mazy left-winger, Thompson is a proficient 1-v-1 artist who excels with her speed and dribbling to get away from players and looks to drive both in and outside the box. With a preference to cut inside, Thompson can look to deliver inside channel crosses too and in these friendlies she brought her newly improved skills forward.
Starting on the left in the England game, Thompson constantly pushed and pressed right-back Lucy Bronze, getting the better of her in many 1-v-1 duels. The constant feints and foot races against Bronze made it very difficult for the Chelsea fullback to mark Thompson, and though Bronze could stop her at times, Thompson delivered several crosses and passes into the box, as well as find spaces to get on the end of them.
The most notable of this was the chance in the fifth minute off Emma Sears’ right-wing cross which Thompson ran onto from the left-wing behind the English centerbacks. Her positioning was good and showed promise in her attacking the box. Since making her debut in October 2022, she’s been drip-fed appearances into the team but now she seems to have made a case for being included in future rosters.
Thompson’s data from the 2024 NWSL season shows a lot of promise. The winger raked up five goals and seven assists in her 26 matches played (2,144 minutes), where she ranked in the 88th percentile for assists per 90 minutes with 0.29 and 77th for touches in the attacking third (5.00 p90), but most importantly she’s registered 3.74 progressive carries (83rd percentile).
A clear trend has emerged in Thompson’s game: she excels as a ball carrier and progressor, consistently positioning herself to score goals or contribute to attacking plays. While her inexperience occasionally shows in her decision-making, this is an area that should improve with time and quality coaching.
Hayes will undoubtedly value Thompson’s raw talent and athleticism, seeing her as a player with the potential to develop into a significant attacking threat. Whether as a dynamic option off the bench or a weapon to stretch defenses on the counter-attack, Thompson’s skill set fits seamlessly into Hayes’ tactical vision.
After her first goal for her country against Iceland last month, Hayes said, “I believe it does take time. Maybe she [Thompson] wasn’t ready before, but I can see from tonight’s performance here that she offers a lot for us going forward.”
Ok team, with Tweed and Hucles out along with today’s roster announcements, looks like ACFC is taking this off-season seriously. I’d love to get conversations going amongst fans about what else we’d like to see before next season! Ideas for coaches, GMs, other front office changes and, of course, new signings! I’ll start:
GET A NEW COACH AND GM ASAP (duh). Honestly don’t have any names in mind but this should be the #1 priority now, as it will help attract players to have those front office pieces in place. Personally, I love Casey Stoney, but I don’t think she’s right for ACFC. Our attack has struggled more than it should for the lineup we have and she’s a defensive-minded coach. However, players love her, I love how open she is about her thoughts on the league, and our defense could use the help.
SIGN AM/FORWARD CAROLINE WEIR FROM REAL MADRID!
SIGN CB LILLY REALE FROM UCLA
SIGN A STARTING CALIBER GK. Would love suggestions on specific names, because I don’t know too much about the ones currently on the free agency list. Some thoughts I’ll throw out:
OTHER TOP COLLEGE PROSPECTS (limiting this to just seniors/grad students, otherwise this list could go on forever):
Kaitlyn MacBean, Forward, Penn State
Lexi Missimo, Midfielder, Texas
Justina Gaynor, Midfielder, Michigan State * Honestly don’t know too much about her but throwing her name out there because we need midfielders. She played the most mins on a top team this season and her sister Celia was drafted last year by Chicago and is now playing pro with Fort Lauderdale in the USL Super League.
Quincy McMahon, OB/Winger, UCLA
Would love to hear other people’s thoughts and ideas for the upcoming season! If nothing else, maybe we can get some rumors/manifesting started👀👀👀 (Also I’m so sorry if the formatting is terrible I don’t post much on Reddit and could not seem to get bullet points or bold lettering to work)
