Question first...can I connect my Pixel 6 to a Linux media server running minidlna without losing mobile data?
This is for use in my car. I've got an up to date Pixel 6 with limited storage (256G). My music collection is much larger so I've created a Linux server running Minidlna. Using a small travel router I can create a wifi network that doesn't have internet access and connect the phone to it to access the music. In doing so I loose mobile data. I wanted to try WIFI Direct but cant find much on creating a WIFI Direct connection to Linux or if it would do what I want. I did find one app that gives me what I want, Speedify, but it does way more than I need and costs more than I want to spend.
Can anyone think of a way to connect to the Linux server for music but still have mobile data available?
Thanks for any suggestions.
I feel like someone is spying on my phone, being able to watch me 24/7, see all my info and files and personal credentials, is there any way to check for RATS or malware? My samsung phone has the latest update.
Hi, My Samsung galaxy A34 is stuck in recovery mode all of a sudden. I didn’t do nothing. Now I want to backup my fotos but don’t know how before doing a factory reset. Can anybody help me?
Thanks
Okay so, I dropped my Oppo A15 in the toilet but grabbed it out instantly. I dried every part of it and nothing seems to be broken except The Power Button. It was working for a few minutes but was almost acting like it was being pressed multiple times, then stopped working completely.
I left it in rice overnight to see if that might help but to no avail, Could i get some help on what to do in the short term for if the Phone goes dead? I have fingerprint set up to wake the phone, But there is no options for powering the phone on.
What is the best roadmap to learn how to reverse engineering android mobile apps?
Please suggest what I should search on, as 'calibration' finds nothing and I can't see this under 'Screen'. I think my taps are being detected just slightly lower on screen than I'm tapping. I know I've been through a test or calibration check previously (maybe on another phone though) but can't find it again - with a screenful of squares where you touch them all, for the phone to check that sensitivity at every part of the screen is ok.
I think this is what's wrong as I'm mistyping a lot, and have identified that it seems to be that I'm hitting the key below the one I intend if anywhere near the edge of the key.

I'm absolutely in love with this feature! I could run apps, do normal tasks as I could on a phone. However the framerates is locked at 20. Is there a way to unlock that? Or is there an alternative to an app that could the same thing?
Google Lens, Google Photos, and Google Gallery all in one app?
Hello! Please recommend me an all in one app. It is kind of frustrating to see good features being separated into three apps. Below are the features I like for each app.
Google Lens: Has something similar to Live Text on IOS. Cool. What annoys me is that I have to open this app, press the lower left circle for images, select the image, and then highlight a text.
Why not just be able to highlight a text on an image when I open it from Google Photos or Gallery like how IOS does it?
Google Photos: Only in this app can you open an image and swipe up to check the properties. Why not put this in Gallery? Also, this is the only app you can use Locked Folder which is similar to Apple's Hide function.
Is there not an option to add folders containing photos in your phone to appear in main screen instead of just images and videos inside the DCIM folder?
I have to go to see screenshots and other pictures I saved from different apps. While Gallery does it different.
There's the copy text function on this but you have to swipe up, select copy text, and then Google Lens open before you can select your text. Why does Android not implement the function like Apple does and be able to highlight text just by holding on it while viewing it on the Photos or Gallery app?
Google also instantly searches for it which is something I wish can be disabled.
Gallery: All photos are presented no matter where it came from and where it was saved. The only bad thing here is that if I add a tv series or manga or comic, it gets added as well. That just messes it up.
Why can I not view the properties like on Google Photos? Why is that function reserved for Google Photos?
Overall, it is something like IOS's Photos app where all the functions are there and stuff is organized properly. No need for three apps that should have been one.
It just feels so much of a hassle when it shouldn't have been. It feels so disorganized and a waste of energy to keep on hoping from one app to another when it could have all been integrated into one.
I don't even know what the app is for, when I went into it, it asked me to agree to the terms but I'm not going to until I know what it is.. I posted on the Samsung sub but it deleted the post.. I would really appreciate it if someone answers because this is making me anxious for some reason.. one of the first things it said in the terms was that I would have to give my data to the app but it would still be mine or something.. just please, if you know answer
Hello, I am currently using Pixel 9 Pro but i am a bit disappointed with missing features (for example Screenshots and Studio) as I am not in the US. It feels like I paid for stuff that I did not really get.
Do you have an experience of how these two companies handle implementing features to smaller countries?
I am thinking of switching from P9P (which I can still return) to S25. What I am looking for are good cameras, longevity, decent battery life and smaller size. I dont game much but if I do, Teamfight Tactics is the most demanding game. I want good cameras to capture pictures of my baby growing up so it will be soon in constant motion.
Any recommendations please?
So this sounds a little weird, but I bought a Z Flip3 a little while ago. Some features stopped working so I plan on sending it back because I could get it replaced. Thing is, I'd have to use an old Iphone with my current SIM card for a while so I can still be contacted while they send me the replacement phone.
I did a backup on a Samsung USB-C Flashdrive, but I'm still a little bit worried. Mainly because I don't know if the Flashdrive really backs up everything but also because I'm oddly worried that putting the card into an Iphone will overwrite something so that I won't be able to put it back into my new phone once I have it.
I had an S24 Ultra that wouldn't fast charge or super fast charge. When I plugged it in, it would start with the sound and light of super fast charge, but within 10 seconds it would act "unplugged", then recognize the charger again, and now only charge at regular speeds.
I tried this with 4 different chargers, all with the same results. I assumed the phone was a dud. Instead of going through warranty I decided to trade it in for the S25 Ultra, which arrived yesterday. Now it's having the same issues.
What could be the cause of this? I don't even know where to start. Seems unlikely 2 phones in a row would have the same issue, but equally unlikely that that many charging cables wouldn't be compatible. Any ideas where I can start troubleshooting this?
Hey, I'm torn between iOS and Android – iOS usually wins because it's faster, but lately, my Android's been amazing thanks to this "dozing" thing. The theory is clear: it limits background apps. But what's wild is how much it boosts performance, even with the screen on! Anyone got their go-to doze settings for best performance? There are tons of options, and tweaking them all would take forever. I'm using Enforce Doze to control it, even with the screen on.
When i try to watch netflix, it says you need an update when there is none available, and then it says Google Play Services are needed to use the app. When i go to the app store for google play services, it says the device isn't compatible anymore, which is odd since it was compatible a month ago. I even tried using netflix from the browser in the tv but it says the same thing. Non-existent Google support isn't helping. Is there any other way to watch netflix except plugging a laptop in?

In the browser, the picture/video upload dialog is only using the native file explorer which doesn't show all folders.
The file upload dialog used to allow you to use different explorers to upload media including cloud file managers. it looks like now it can only open a cloud media app. There's no way to upload with other gallery apps like https://github.com/FossifyOrg/Gallery
If this is an intended feature then it's a huge regression in functionality you can only upload files from the: Camera, Videos, Screenshots, Downloads directories
So, I've been monitoring my performance on AnTuTu and Geekbench 6 for the past 3 weeks since I've had my phone and, I see the CPU performance quickly degraded to about 40% of what it should be, even a factory reset did absolutely nothing. I get about 3,000 on Geekbench or less on average now and 170-180K CPU performance on AnTuTu. Sounds like a dimensity 1000 or Snapdragon 870, don't it? Not even close. This is a dimensity 8300 Ultra, it should not be getting these low scores. I'm in a well cooled environment and did a factory reset and my score was actually worse than before I factory reset it! 2,900 on Geekbench 6. I should be getting 4,600, that's a massive difference and I actually have gotten 4,600 when I first got the phone but not even close now. Used to get 300K CPU on AnTuTu, not even close now. I just don't understand why this is happening. I've at this point deemed it to be a hardware issue but I really don't want to believe that because there's no way returning the phone with this niche issue is going to go well
I've created my first app and successfully deployed to the Apple Store.
While trying to deploy to the Android Play store it says that the app can not be deployed to production until 12 users have opted-in to a closed testing track.
I have 20 users that have installed my app, yet the play store still says that 0 users have opted-in.
I've read all the documentation on closed testing and I can't figure out why none of my users are showing up as 'opted-in' to closed testing.
Do I need to personally email each of my testers and ask them to do something?
Hello everyone,
I'm running Hestia Control Panel on a Raspberry Pi within my local network. On my desktop, I've successfully mapped domains like pi.local, store.pi.local, and blog.pi.local to the Pi's IP address (192.168.29.100) by editing the hosts file. This setup allows Nginx to route these domains correctly.
However, I'm facing challenges achieving similar functionality on my Android device without rooting it. Directly editing the hosts file isn't an option, and I'm looking for alternative methods to map these local domains to the Raspberry Pi's IP address.
I've considered setting up a local DNS server using Dnsmasq on the Raspberry Pi and configuring the Android device to use this DNS. Before proceeding, I have a few questions:
Internet Connectivity: If I set my Android device to use the Raspberry Pi's DNS server, will it still be able to access external websites, or will it be limited to local domains?
Upstream DNS Servers: Do I need to configure upstream DNS servers (like Google or Cloudflare) in Dnsmasq to ensure internet access on the Android device?
Alternative Solutions: Are there other methods or apps that allow mapping local domains on Android without rooting?
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
My Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone doesn't let me upload files to websites through browser app. When I try do do it, browser app just closes, what's the problem?
My phone carrier sucks but is very cheap. I've relied on WiFi calling to have decent coverage in the areas that I'm frequently around.
My problem is that I live on a university campus where sometimes I am taking a call while standing in one place (so WiFi calling works perfectly) or I'm walking around campus with my WiFi constantly switching between the university's routers and parts of my conversation completely drop out.
I want to be able to make/receive a call and decide whether to use WiFi calling or rely on the phone carrier on a per-call basis. How can I do that?
I use Gboard. I just upgraded to a new motog84 from a motog82. On the new phone, the "?123" key activates upon release instead of upon press. It feels laggy and terrible.
I assume this is to facilitate being able to press ?123 and drag to a symbol without releasing the key.
I don't like this at all and want the "?123" key to just feel and work like every other key.
Can anyone help?
I hate how 90% of the brightness setting changes the brightness by only like 10%. Giving you only a tiny bit to adjust the brightness.
Is there anyway to fix this? And does anyone know why they do this?
My phone is a moto g stylus 2023.
Hey guys,
I bought a used Galaxy A03s for my car in order to run a specific app (HighwayRadar). I’ll have the phone hardwired to a charging cable.
When I start my car, the phone will start charging and I was wondering if there was a way to automatically open an app when the phone detects that it’s being charged.
Thanks!
I'm trying to get Work Profile going. It looks like exactly what I need. Except upon installing it, I've discovered that the Work Profile Play Store has like 30 apps available, not millions.
I've been chatting with Google Workspace support (I have Business Basic) and they're telling me that to install other apps, I need to upgrade to a higher profile, at double the cost for my organization - this does not make sense.
I am not looking to manage the apps my users installs. I want them to be able to install any and all apps in the Work Profile.
Any suggestions?

How do i block the ability to install apks on rooted android, android 11. can I remove installing from unknown srouces. For more info look at https://xdaforums.com/t/block-all-apk-installation-on-rooted-android-11-phone.4715212/#post-89922119
Cannot find the answer to this online for the life of me, at least nothing simple. I play Pokemon GO, and this overlay app, copies automatically some information a Pokemon to paste into their name for organization. Because of this, every pokemon I move to, the clipboard popup happens with the new name, and the button to close is right behind it, which means I very often accidently tap the mirroring button and it's just really annoying me. I've looked through the settings, and haven't found a solution. Online it seems that this might not be removable, but it seems like something that should have a toggle somewhere!
Any ideas?
