Anyone know the value?
Would appreciate any feedback to help me identify this ancient Indian coin which I suspect is South Indian. Found in Northern Sri Lanka. It is of copper; weight unknown. One side has several stylized geometrical shapes and pellets. The other side is worn. Unlisted in many well known reference catalogs (Mitchiner, Ganesh, Nagaswamy, Krishnamurthy) Thank you!
Coin details:
Copper, rectangular, 0.75"X 1.0"
i,
I've got this coin and am needing some help to ID.
I narrowed down to southern India (telugu/tamil script?)
But that's as far as I got.
Using many photos with different light source, plus a bit a photoshop, this is what I've got from the obverse.
reverse bellow.
19x18mm, 2.1g
Thank you for any help.
Price 40 dollars for Both. For more info send me a chat
There is a lot of good information on old Indian coins online, but these are the two that I use the most:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/india-1.html
NGC is OK - it's sort of the online version of the Krause catalogs, but it is known to contain errors and a lot of the values listed don't reflect market realities. I'm not sure if it lists actually ancient coins, either.
This spectacular rare coin is a gold Mohur of Nurjahan, Minted at Agra, dated AH 1036 / RY 21.
