How much of a commitment is Flex? How 'flexible' is it, really?

I'm interested in Flex because I have a health condition called gastroparesis. Most days I'm fine, but sometimes without warning I'll wake up in the morning and start throwing up. It often doesn't end for 4-5 days.

As you can imagine, this makes it hard to hold down a job because of attendance. So, Flex interests me because I wouldn't be committed to showing up if I woke up feeling unwell.

However, as I'm reading posts in the sub I'm starting to wonder if that actually the case. If I were delivering regularly, and then just didn't for like a week, would they stop assigning me routes?

I'm still on the waitlist, so I don't really know how it works...

Driver picture shown

Ok so I had Amazon package delivered for myself today and when I saw the tracking info I saw a picture and name of the driver delivering and I’ve never seen that before and I’m now wondering if it’s gonna show my picture when I do flex or if it’s only dsp drivers

VA🚘 to TX

Has anyone done a major location switched and continued to FLEX? Considering relocating and would like to know if I’d be able to continue in a different state & city? Any insight would be spectacular, thanks!

Ever had an issue with employee

I've been doing this part time for 6 months, this one warehouse employee is always rude to me. Today my cart was so overflowed 4 big boxes at the top fell when I pushed the cart down the ramp. I couldn't see where I was steering and almost hit a car pushing the cart. The girl employee gave me a dirty look when I asked her to remove a few. The ones that fell later. She took one off while glaring at me and said there and walked away shaking her head. I put all but the ones that fell in my car and left the rest in the parking lot because no employee was willing to help me. I never do that but the way she treats me is always rude and I don't know why.

Flexing in severe weather

I called driver support today to let them know that I was taking the rest of the packages I have home with me because there are tornado watches everywhere, even the surrounding areas all in the Midwest. I couldn’t even see due to the pouring rain and my phone was severely wet.

I decided to stop after the 17th package because who’s gonna pay for my soaked phone in the event that it malfunctions? These people will get their packages when they get them. I’ll be damned if I continue to deliver in this type of weather.

Before they try to play me again, let me go ahead and write them 🙄 they tried me the first time and lowered my standing before I sent screenshots of the weather updates on the app and the weather channels notifications.

PRESCOTT VALLEY WPR1

Husband and I started picking up blocks out of the Prescott Valley warehouse WPR1 and so far so good. Only question we have is, do you ever see any blocks on the offers page earlier than 1:30pm? The earliest blocks that appear for us are at 1:30pm and the latest 7pm. Worked out of the Phoenix warehouses for quite some time and we picked up 3:30-4am blocks there all the time.

Also, it seems like there’s a ton of people that show up late to blocks and it doesn’t seem to affect anyone? People still get to pick up the blocks. Just tripped us out a bit since the warehouses down in Phoenix are very straight up with booting you off the app once you’re past the 5 minute grace period after your supposed start time.

First day thoughts

Did my first shift today 2:15pm-5:45pm $79 dollars and here are my thoughts

  1. I had issues scanning my ID at the warehouse and thought that was a sign of how today was going to go

  2. My route was only 18 packages…17 stops. Not too bad…but it was all back roads and some stops were spread out. Some were close.

  3. First stop was over 30 mins away. I forgot exact time.

  4. I legit thought I was going to run out of gas…and remember I said earlier I was on back roads…😅

  5. It took me almost the entire block to complete. Think I had 15 minutes to spare

  6. All in all…I would do it again. Just gotta remember to not play with the gas situation 😂

App glitch, when click “go to start location” it shows me last route.

When I wanted to do my block and click “go to start location”, it wouldn’t navigate me to the warehouse. Instead, it was showing me stop from my last route. How do I fix this? I tried restarting and doesn’t fix it.

Fiesta Downtown San Antonio

I had the terrible luck today of getting a route in downtown San Antonio and it didn't go well. They had blocks and blocks of streets closed. I contacted customer service and they said that they would make notes about it... At the end of 4 1/2 hours I had 15 packages to return. I am pretty sure I was the third driver to attempt to deliver some of these packages. I screenshoted the chat with customer service, I feel like I will for sure get dinged for all this.

Not seeing an option for a second block..

I’m in Vegas and both my husband and myself do flex. I rolled my ankle so I’ve been outta commission for a week. Normally we can both get two blocks a day.. for the last few days he has taken his morning runs with the hope of getting another one but when he’s done I see a list of offers on my app and he’s not getting any of them.. any idea?

Amazon flex vests make a decent clay sporting vest in a pinch

I didn’t have one and was at a charity clay shoot and pocketing shells in pants sucks, stacking them on the rail of the station means I’ll probably knock them over, but the pen pockets are sized perfectly to stack two shells in each and run your finger on the outside to pull the two out and drop them in.

Tell your buddy that if anyone jokes and asks what you’re delivering, say freedom and that’s their cue to pull so you let off two rounds 😂

What type of bins are you using to hold your envelopes/bags/etc?

I'm currently using plastic grocery bins but they only really work well if the bags/envelopes aren't holding something with a weird shape. They fit nicely on my front passenger seat and floor, but I am needing to use 3 most blocks.

I usually do 4 hour routes with 38-50 packages, about half will be envelopes/bags. I am certain there needs to be a better tool for this. Suggestions?

I swear customers take this way too serious. I'm sure alot of drivers just drop it at the door, but that's how it works bud.

Station worker denied route

Got scanned in and got out to get my route yesterday and a station worker came up to me and grabbed the cart before I could scan the route. Said they weren't going to let me take a route today because I was "speeding in the parking lot." Not the staging area, because how can you even if you wanted to when there are cars parked, but the parking lot before the staging area before I was even checked in.

Are they allowed to deny routes at their own discretion? For context, I suppose I was coming in a little hot off the road, but it wasn't like I was going 20mph through the parking lot. The workers at my station always have such a stick up their ass about the smallest shit (opening your doors too early, shutting your engines off before they tell you to, etc) Just curious if there's any recourse.

Blocks for this evening in Tulsa

Haven’t seen anything yet. Has anyone else? Wondering if they aren’t dropping any due to the high risk for a tornado outbreak?

Lower pay

I have noticed at my location around the 1st of the month (a little before and after) that Amazon pays less. I don’t know if it is just my market or a coincidence. Has anyone else noticed this?

Looks like AZ has back tracked on charging $10 per delivery from WF to $10 a month unlimited. That what it was before. Maybe we’ll start seeing more IO soon.

what would you do?

I had this yesterday, it was an apartment delivery where everything is locked. Even the elevator need access to pick a floor. The access code didn't worked either. I ended up spend a good 30 minutes on this one location. Also ended up put it in the emergency exit door lol
