Venezuelans in surges at Avalon (Read)

Was tempted to tip the cops tonight after seeing groups of Venezuelans and their kids grab sodas, and walk out I’m talking 1-3 bottles per person. None paid, no one said a word. No they didn’t pick up as an “uber”. Hoping this isn’t seen continuously. These people were sketchy and reading some of their tattoos aren’t the cleanest of people just based off them. Before anyone comments please note I know those areas very very well and know the good and the bad. These weren’t the good kind.

John Creek/Alpharetta to Suwanee?

I relocated to GA about 3 years ago. I’ve lived in the Johns Creek/Alpharetta area the entire time (renting). I am now in the process of purchasing my own home and I can’t afford to stay here- all the houses in my budget are small and need LOTS of repairs. I am considering moving out to Suwanee but I am feeling a bit reluctant since I don’t know much about the area or Gwinnett County and I really love the area I live in now. Any guidance on Suwanee and whether it’s a good idea to move there would be helpful. For context: I am single with a son in college.

Thinking of switching off a major cell carrier, anyone have experience with the smaller carriers in this area? Like Visible, Cricket, US Mobile, Mint, etc

Our Verizon bill just keeps going up and I feel like we are on WiFi 75+% of the time anyway, so I am considering switching to a smaller carrier. The Visible+ plan with priority data for $35/mo looks appealing.

Anyone have experience with coverage for any of the smaller carriers in the Alpharetta/Roswell area? TIA

Moving from NY with Autistic 6yo

My family is moving from NY to the Atlanta area next year. Our oldest son has high functioning autism, and I’m having trouble finding information on the best public school systems for special needs children. Does anyone have suggestions or experience with an ASD child in Alpharetta, John’s Creek, or Roswell schools? We are coming from a great school district in NY, and I don’t want to move to a district where children are constantly suspended and services are scarce!

Miserable Vice Kitchen experiences, need a solid butcher

First off I am all for open internet dialogue so if a Vice Kitchen staffer would like to join in the dialogue, all ears.

We run a growing catering business in the metro Atlanta area with a focus on meat. Good meat.

After trying different vendors we were recommended Vice Kitchen because of their selection.

The first time working with them, we specifically asked for wagyu cuts and they assured that the steak the provided was wagyu. The cuts they gave me was nowhere near wagyu yet they repeatedly said it was. So they either 1) don’t know what Wagyu is or 2) lied to my face.

A few months later to this week, we were in a pinch so I gave them another chance asking for filets for an upcoming Christmas party of high end clients, where we specialize.

Had 35 pounds of filet for Monday ordered through them and today they said tough shit, won’t happen after telling me for 10 days they could.

Had another catering company give similar feedback.

Any recommendations of butchers in our area not run by bums like this Vice?

Best Place for Men’s Haircut

Hey - was wondering if anyone knew a good spot (barber shop/ salon) for a men’s haircut.

Used to do 18/8 in Brookhaven for a while, but became real expensive. Did Alpharetta Barber/Reesha but the haircuts were kind of sloppy over time.

Have a few cowlicks/widows peak so need something a bit more than a Great Clips, etc… but don’t need all the extras of beer and all that stuff. Just a good solid haircut!

Neurologist

I am looking for a good Neurologist in the Alpharetta area, they don’t have to be in Alpharetta, within a 20 mile radius would be perfect. I am looking for recommendations as I have never seen one but was told to by my primary care physician. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

T-Mobile/VZW home internet experience? (South Main area)

Anyone in the south Main or near downtown Alpharetta using T-Mobile’s or VZW’s home Internet? I would love to hear your experience on working from home (Teams meetings, Remote Desktop connections (all day), occasional file download/upload) and streaming 4k video. I am trying to decide which one I want to try first for a trial period.

I can only get Xfinity or AT&T DSL 25 mbps service - AT&T fiber & air and Google fiber are not available at my address. My Comcast download is solid at 800 mbps but upload is limiting at times. But the real reason is the data cap is killing me. I can go unlimited for another $30 a month which will take service to $126/month. I don’t think I can go through another customer retention episode after last increase of $20ish/month.

Starting Dec. 9 any Fulton County student will be able to transfer to schools with less than 95% enrollment

By analyzing historical and projected enrollment figures, Appen Media estimates that list will include Cambridge, Johns Creek, Alpharetta and Roswell high schools.

Application window will be Dec. 9 through Jan. 15. Previously students had to be facing a hardship to transfer - now it is open to anyone.

Apartments in Alpharetta

Hi, I'm 26M moving to Alpharetta from Boston. I'll be working from SANCTUARY PARK.
Which areas are safe for community apartments near the sanctuary park? I'm currently looking for a studio/1B around $1200 to 1300ish.

I wouldn't mind sharing the apartment in a 2/3B. Are there any specific fb groups or subreddit groups to find roommates in Alpharetta?

Appreciate any help, Cheers!

Hosting a support group?

I was wondering if anyone knew of any local community centers that offered rooms for folks who wanted to start a support group. I'd love somewhere outside of a church that would feel a little more secular, but not necessary. I've called some churches and not had much luck lol. I know Emory hospital does some, but are all medical facility groups run by a staff member?

Thanks in advance for any info. Hoping to grow a little connectedness in our community. 🙂
