So i started with the armed/unarmed training on 10/14. I didn’t receive that check till last week. (We were told weekly pay for the position) Then i began my post last monday. Now this week has arrived and i haven’t been paid for the last week. Then i hear from my peers at the site that either some have not been paid for the training course weeks prior or their check was short. Like alot of us are either no check or wrong checks. How would you guys go about this? Because obviously i am not working for free. I understand the company just acquired this contract and it started on the 1st but as big as this company is i don’t believe they should be messing up payroll like this across the board. Some of my peers have already either missed some shift behind this or have planned to do so.
How hard is the 40 hr training ? What to expect?
Got my legal settlement through Dept of Labor. Allied claims they do not have to pay for state guard card training, and that was a lie! Everyone in North Carolina needs to go get their 16 hours pay at the minimum wage Dept of Labor ordered, $7.25/hr, since NC doesnt have a state minimum wage
Not sure how much info I should really divulge, but I suppose I can get straight to the point:
A little bit ago I was in a meeting with the client manager for my area and the customer (site I have worked at for a long time) where I was informed to devise a schedule each week, send it to both parties, and things would be handled. Except, they have not been. All of my emails with the schedule I devise largely go ignored, meaning they are almost never correctly reflected in eHub for myself or the other officers at my site; and when the client manager does send a schedule to follow (only twice) it does not meet the requirements the customer discussed with them.
On top of this we recently lost someone in our area, who I thought was the head honcho, who had a personal chat with me to go over some things they were going to do to alleviate the stress of the situation I've been in. Which has not been followed up on by the client manager or anyone else in this area, to which I do not even know if there is any other than the client manager and a field supervisor for this area (aside from HR, but due to potential working relationship with client manager, I do not feel comfortable talking to them).
Should I go through the Concern Resolution Procedure and interact with the hotline or what?
I got a email about 401k match I thought I didnt qualify since I didnt have 401k during 2020-2021? I thought I needed sign up then but now its every year?
I am not going turn down several 100 dollars thats for sure
The other day I put on resume I worked at a place I never did as an officer, and interviewer took my resume with them after it was over. Filling out the background check I don’t see any questions about employment history. Am I cooked?
My scheduling Manager acts as everything for my branch !! He is causing alot of disruptions to me and my team and from last 3 months he has never been on site visit. Is there any method to anonymously complaint about him to higher management? Bypassing General Manager for Branch too?
Both CSM and Scheduling Manager keep covering each other from troubles, i want to stay anonymous and want senior management to know how he works .
I stopped working for allied 9 months ago and I need to access my w2 forms but I dont know where to. I tried logging into lisa but it doesnt let me is there another way?
What are in those binders at sites?
So I got a position today as a security guard in a truck yard. I did a walk-in interview and when they called me in everything just kind of snowballed and before I knew it I received the allied uniform and scheduled for training at the site the next day 😶. Mind you I haven't even gone through new employee orientation! The manager didnt realize until i had left. So now I'm scheduled for orientation but during the whole fiasco I didn't inquire about a specific job I wanted. It's with a different hiring manager, I don't want to go through a transfer as it will probably just get lost or not granted so can I just quit after a couple of days and then interview for the site I originally wanted? They probably wouldn't even notice right lol.
So im shopping around for health insurance and preventive care and I notice Walmart has far cheaper plans then Allied. Open Enrollment is starting soon for Allied but my previous medical rate was like $89 out of every paycheck and i dont get sick but i just want it for a check up. Yea Allied does far cheaper plans for me but if i want full coverage for preventive care I cant choose the cheapest.
Its like nearly $400 vs $72
Ive been with Allied for 5 years and Im not going anywhere but Walmart has its ups and downs.
I been working for allied for a while now and last year my ex put a restraining order on me and today I got a email from sterling background check that allied is requesting one, will I lose my job ?
I called off the other day, I work with one other security guard and my boss wanted ME to tell my co worker to cover my shift instead of himself. I feel like this isn't my place to text my co worker to come in for me. Shouldn't it be the boss's responsibility for telling them?
My Boss literally mad a group chat between me and my coworker JUST TO ASK IF I REACHED OUT TO THEM TO LET THEM KNOW IF I TOLD THEM TO COVER MY SHIFT, Instead of calling them right there and then
Am I in the wrong or not?
I'm currently assigned to guard an empty Warehouse that's supposedly being sold.
When I got to work tonight I drove through the gate and parked my car. When I got out of the car I noticed that my coworker was messing around with his car in the employee parking lot. When I walked over to the company car it was sitting 15 feet from an open gate with the key in the ignition, the engine running and the door wide open.
I explained my coworker why that might not be best practices and he threw a fit.
I'm not going to go into the whole conversation but his defense was he was in visual contact with vehicle and that if somebody had come through the gate he would have got from his car to the company car in time to stop him from taking it.
What I tried to explain to him that he really doesn't seem to understand is it almost without exception every single one of the Tweakers that walks up and down the street in front of where I work is armed with something.
Assuming that he was able to get to the car before they did in my experience there's a high likelihood that he would be running right into a fight that he would not be prepared for.
He got on me about how every time I come to work it's always something and I'm always pointing something out. And the only thing that I could think of to tell him was like the guy in the insurance commercial I know a thing or two because I've seen a thing or two. Everything I've ever pointed out to this guy I've seen it happen and I've seen somebody get hemmed up for it and a couple of times that somebody was me but he didn't get it
I’ve just gotten my first paycheck from allied for my orientation that took a total of 18 hours, two 7 hour days and one 4 1/2 hour long day, and the check was for… 20 dollars… It claims on the check that I only worked for 3 hours total. It was my understanding that I was bieng payed for all of my orientation, but I also remember on my third day that someone I was with said something about them only paying for the first day, which wasn’t communicated to me at all, and even if it is the case, it should’ve been for 7 hours, not 3. I was already worried about something like this happening since they never had us sign in or recorded what time we left. It’s also very annoying that I got the check on a Saturday, so I couldn’t even do anything about it until Monday.
You're not alone... Just about every morning and afternoon are the quizzes here in Ohio... And they are so repeating.... It's getting old. FAST. I have been working the same site for 10 years. Lisa sucks... And you're better off buying your own pants they never get em right. And good luck getting the rest at a reasonable time, takes forever. Just a few of us know more than the site supervisors AND the account manager but don't want Tha hassle for just a little more pay. There are some pros and cons to working for this company here in this state. Pros outweigh the cons... My bills are paid and I been here a long time, also I go way above and beyond for the client and they know it and appreciate me. However the ones who do nothing but breathe and show get the most praises from the sups at allied and get away with MUCH MORE than I ever would. So the less ya do the more you get away with. It's aggravating but like I said my bills are paid. Quizzes, Lisa, the edge training is all a Pain in the ass to me. OK enough of my opinions for now
TL:DR No proper training sucks, and you have to figure it out.
I work at a packaging site, and no one trained me on how to handle non company branded trucks, so here I am with the supervisor not answering the phone, but that's ok cause I know they're asleep, and I have to run around figuring out what to do on the fly.
No one else is here but me on the weekends, and I felt bad for this trucker, cause I kept him here for over an hour trying to figure out shit.
The driver and his passenger were nice though, we were just talking about what it was like being a trucker, the pay, etc.
I called the other building, keeping in mind there's like 10+ others (got lucky first try lol), but that guy was super helpful and told me to guide him there and they'll take care of the rest.
Had another driver cuss me out for not knowing the site number, which no one told me, it's not the address btw lol.
Why do some managers/supervisors not properly train for situations? Thank God I only work weekends.
Good morning reddit,
I’m interviewing for a job with this company this morning (video interview, not in person) and have been looking into glassdoor reviews/reddit posts from employees ever since. A friend of mine, also a security guard, recommended them as one of the better companies for getting experience, but there’s quite a few negative posts about the company and I was hoping y’all could give me guidance on how to make the most of this job for however long I have it. Any tips and tricks from more seasoned employees would be greatly appreciated. Don’t want to dox myself so I’ll just say I’m applying to be in the Colorado Springs area.
I’m doing an 11p-7a tonight and just curious how the hour roll back will work? Do I get paid for the extra hour I’m here and do I have an extra tour to complete?
Obviously, all questions I should’ve asked my manager before the shift, but I procrastinated asking and here I am now 😂😂
Please, no hate. Thx
Honestly this job is designed to fit those who are only interested in a temporary position. Please don’t let this be your long term job. Invest in yourself by learning new skills sets to expand your career opportunities.
I’m getting offers but there far away lol I’m nyc queens and the offers are like deep in Bronx or deep in Brooklyn , to be honest I’m not even home by the time I get home and try to go it would be too late .. if I decline would it matter ? Or not
2nd I got hired for a location but they said I need training for the spot. Which is like 2 weeks I will take the training. This coming week idk where ima be. And my manager hasn’t call me. Should I call tomorrow or Monday morning to see where ima go ? I’m a new hire and I work the site for a week but he said this week ima be somewhere new until I do the training classes.
Edited : I’m saying at my good post thank god
I am working a post which is about 30 mins from my house and wanted to know how to and if I can change my post somewhere closer to me and how quick would it be for that to happen
Hello, sorry for the format of this, I've never posted here but could really use some advice. I posted this in r/legaladvice as well, but could use as much help as possible.
I currently work as an unarmed security contractor with Allied Universal Security. I have currently been working at my specific site for a year and 1.5 months now, though I've been working for the company for well over 4 years now. During all that time, I have trained with each supervisor on site and have done my best to improve my skills at this job (it is a computer heavy position, working on Zendesk and other related software). I have never once in my time over a year here gotten any sort of write-up, verbal warning, or other such disciplinary action taken against me, which for my site was a true badge of honor.
Over the past few months, supervisors on site for various shift positions have left, leaving positions open for application. As stated, I have been trying to improve and earn that position for a long time now. Each time the supervisor spot has opened, the managers here have decided to hire someone from outside the site and company to fill the spots. Recently, this has happened for the sixth time. Just over a week ago, after the supervisor was announced, I called my manager and had a professional discussion with him, explaining that I felt that this was proving to us other guards that promotion was not possible at this site, and that my efforts were in vain. I explained that I had personally trained and worked towards this, and that I had a flawless record on site for over a year. The conversation ended up going nowhere, with him explaining that I should just keep going at it and that he recognizes my efforts.
A week after that call to the day, I come in to work to receive a "verbal" warning (in email) about a very trivial issue (not checking doors properly during foot-patrols). My supervisor and I reviewed the footage and disputed this, as it was evident that I had actually done the check properly, and that the guard reviewing the footage who reported it simply was not being thorough. The very next day, I get a call from a manager explaining that I was getting in trouble for not wearing the right color undershirt (another "verbal", this time on paper). I refused to sign the paper, as other guards were wearing colors much more obvious than myself (I kept to navy blues and blacks exclusively to match the uniform), but also because the site SOP manual said nothing about undershirts to begin with in the uniform section.
The day after this is my day off, so I go home and go to sleep. I wake up to a text from my manager saying that I cannot return to site pending an investigation. I called him to get more information, and he refused to tell me what was being investigated, other than that it was different from the first two issues. He also told me to contact HR. I tried to then email and call HR multiple times throughout the day, with absolutely no response. I tried logging into my work email from home, just to find that my work account is now locked. My coworkers on-site currently are telling me that everyone is being told that I've been terminated, and to call police if I show up to the site. The manager I called previously is now ignoring my phone calls. The assistant manager picked up and told me, over and over, to just call HR. When I explained that they were not responding, he said that that wasn't his issue and that he doesn't control HR.
I feel like I'm being railroaded off the site with zero input or communication going to me at the moment. The office where HR works is closed and will be for the weekend. My livelihood is being threatened and I cannot afford to lose this job. I don't know what to do, or what my options are, but I feel like this absolutely isn't right and shouldn't be legal. This site has previously had a history with these managers of doing similar things to fire people, removing them from site over text and never getting back to them about it.
What do I do here?
I used to work for allied 8 months ago but left and now I want to return i did renew my guard card but my power to arrest is expired can I apply for the job again even if my powers to arrest certificate is expired?
Looking to get advice as I am new to the security industry. Earlier in September of this year I started working for Allied Universal at an employee gate for 14$ an hour & 8 hour shifts. At the same time I applied for AU, I applied to a medical center/hospital security position & I just back from the interview offering me 18$ an hour. Is the 4$ increase & 12 hour shifts worth the workload? Located in the state of SC.
I only work 2 days out of the week and been waiting 5 months just for somebody to leave at my post so I can get their hours and finally go full time, guess what the supervisor did? He hired a new guy even after I told him twice, one on text and one through the phone that I want the guys hours after he left. I even told the manager, but no they hired somebody else! Then another dude at the post also left and guess what? They hired someone else as well without giving me anything. And Im the one that's been helping take coverage for everyone's shifts for call offs while waiting for somebody to leave
Here comes part 2 tho, I applied to another allied post because the days they wanted somebody for matches the rest of the days I'm off and available for the extra days I need to get full time. I got scheduled for an interview, showed up, they then said "sorry we hired somebody else just recently, but I have your contact information and will be the first to call you once we need somebody again"
2 months later past and the same job was posted again and was never contacted! So I applied and was scheduled for an interview on phone this time and nobody called. I emailed the manager that had his email on the posting and said "sorry the job was recently taken" like dude wth, he said he would call me first when they need someone again and just gave the job to someone else instead! All this has been absolutely disrespectful
I'm done with this trash company, I been a good guy patiently waiting and helping around while stuck working two days a week for most of the weeks the past 5-6 months waiting for full-time. It's all good, Meanwhile if they call me for shifts I'm no longer answering anymore, and once I get my Cdl training going I'm gone and not giving a 2 week notice.
Brand new to security, starting off as an unarmed guard. What are the pros and cons of getting level III? Also, some of the armed guards I see almost look like cops with all the stuff on their belt. Firearm, baton, taser, cuffs. Can level III guards arrest people? (not a citizens arrest)
Currently making $22.00 working the plcb contract …. Does anybody know of any higher paying post ?
