Hello! English is better than my Portuguese unfortunately!
As title suggests, looking for beaches to play a game of football with some friends next summer, are there dedicated spots? Would locals/fellow tourists be offended if we used cones to build out a mini pitch on a section of a beach?
Looking for recommendations on where’s best to do this to be least disruptive to everyone.
Thanks!
Edit: my phone autocorrected futebol to the Spanish version…..
Hello! I would like to visit the Algarve towards the end of December into the beginning of January. I was looking for some input on where I should stay. I will only be there for one week.
Should I stay in Faro and visit Lagos, or should I stay in Lagos and visit Faro?
I would also like to visit Seville, Spain, if I have the time.
Thank you for any input!
Im looking for a motorbike meet to go to with a few friends, but we can’t really find any, does anyone know of any nearby? We all speak fluent português.
Hello! As the title suggests, I’m going on a last minute trip to the Algarve in the first week of December. It will be my first time in the Algarve and also my first solo travel. I will be at Faro early Nov 30th and flying back home early Dec 7th.
I’m thinking of taking the bus to Seville (for the Architecture) and staying there for 1 or 2 nights (Nov 30 - Dec 2) and spending the rest of the week in the Algarve (Dec 2-6). Is this a good idea or should I just spend the whole week in the Algarve and maybe just do a day trip in Seville?
I will be renting a car in the Algarve and driving around to explore the cities/villages, see the beaches and maybe go on hikes. Any suggestions on how I can make the most of my time there?
Good evening,
Quick question, does anyone know of any Airbnb property managers/management companies around the Sao Bras de Alportel area that they would recommend?
I have a property that I would like to list.
Thanks!

I am just starting to plan a 50th birthday trip for next May. I want to rent a house for a few couples, possibly two houses if I can find two close together. Has anyone stayed at an amazing house that they would recommend? Would like something walkable to food and stuff. A pool would be great. Would like the option of hiring a chef for part of our stay. Any home rental site recs are welcome! Thanks!
Hey, Reddit! I’m planning a 12-day trip to Portugal, arriving in the Algarve on Nov 21 and leaving from Lisbon on Dec 3. I love picturesque towns, Instagram-worthy spots, beaches, hikes, and the must-see highlights. Here’s my rough itinerary:
Algarve (Nov 21–27)
Lisbon & Surroundings (Nov 27–Dec 3)
Would love any tips on must-visit spots, hidden gems, or places to eat! Thanks in advance! 🙏
Does anyone know a rock/punk DJ near lagos?
Hi. Anybody know what I can expect there? Will there be an open pub at least? Any other recommendations for that area will be greatly appreciated!
Hi, I’m trying to book a trip for me and my partner to the algarve for around 5 days in March and I don’t know which area to stay in. Could anyone suggest a few places I should look into? A little more about our preferences -

I just don’t even know where to start and thought instead of spending hours looking online confusing myself I’d ask here to get some inspo to help me get started! Also if there’s anywhere to avoid based on the above list please lmk!
Also, is it recommended to hire a car or is it pretty easy to get around without?
Thanks :)
Hello.
10 years ago I stayed at a house in Sao Bras de Alportal. Had a brilliant holiday staying here. I saw a couple of years afterward that it was up for sale (not planning on buying) but I have never been able to find any further information about the house and whether it is still available to rent or whether it was sold.
The latest Street View image I can see seems to show that the house gardens may not be being maintained but this is from 4 years ago and may be because of covid.
Does anyone have any information on this property? Not sure about potentially posting addresses on Reddit so delete if not allowed but it is Rua do Medronheiro 22.
Posting again! Thankfully the holiday is going amazing, I have a ring and wanted to do a sunset proposal for my partner, any recommendations for good spots walking distance from Lagos? Have found a few pretty places but not quite sure which has the best sunset view
Hey all.
Considering visiting Lagos for a week, early November.
I know it's outside of the season, so will be quieter and less hot than usual, but that's fine because we largely just want to relax in some nicer weather than the uk (may have a few day trips etc.)
My only concern is that it may be a bit of a ghost town during the week. Will bars and restaurants be open every day/night? Could anyone shed any light on what time they'll close?
Thanks for any advice/thoughts.
I am taking my mom to the Algarve in April 2025. I'll be renting a car, but we like to walk. We want somewhere that is quiet, but walking distance to get breakfast/lunch/dinner/grocery stores. Being walking distance to a beach is also preferrable. Would any of these towns be advisable, even specific areas as pointers within them would be helpful. Thanks!
Obrigada!
Hey guys Just landed in Lagos! Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for alternative bars/puds? Preferably LGBT friendly for myself and my partner Cheers 🍻
I've got a silly request. We just came back from Luz, and my son finally got to unpack his silly little snow globe from any local tourist shop (Burgau to be exact) and it fell and broke leaving my kid heartbroken. I would love to surprise him with the exact same snow globe. So, any Dutch presently there or soon going? And willing to help a fellow Redditor out? Yes, I will pay and have pictures of the ugly thing. 073 is local to me, but am near 030 often.
Wie helpt? A heartbroken by proxy dad.
Currently in the process of moving to the algarve and looking at leasing a bar somewhere .
Have been in the pub trade in the uk all my life and have done well here but England is becoming a less and less desirable place to live and work .
Would love to hear from some fellow expats what they have found to be pros and cons to running a business here .
Hi guys
I would have to take a bus from Portimao to Faro Int Airport on New Year Eve
Do the buses work on the eve?
Thanks
Boas! Vou andar pelo Algarve e gostava de saber quais são as melhores Francesinhas da região. Obrigado 👌
Hi all. We just arrived in carvoeiro for a 3 day vacation, and the beach is not swimmable and barely playable due to algae. We have young kids and all they’re here to do is play in the sand and splash in the ocean. Please help me salvage this trip!
We have a car. Are there any close by beaches that are easy to drive to and access that not covered in algae? Or is there anything else we could do with young kids (2 and 6)?
Or is our best option to bail and carvoerio and drive to another location entirely?
Thanks for your help
Hello everyone, I'm planning to come and spend my summer vacation in the Algarve as a family with our 2 teenagers aged 15 and 18... Which seaside resort do you recommend to enjoy the beautiful beaches, activities and restaurants.. Ideally a lively place to spend 10 nice days with the family...
Thank you for your advice
Hi, I’m looking for the easiest and cheapest way to get from the airport to Carvoeiro. Arriving at 5pm during a weekday, so I assume there should be still options, but travelling solo - that’s why I’m looking for budget friendly options.
I read that people take buses to Lagoa, and then a taxi/bus to Carvoeiro, but not sure if this information is up to date. Would appreciate any advice!
Hey all, I’m looking to solo travel and work from home at an all inclusive. Where’s the best place to be to be able to socialise and meet new people? (Recommendations of hotels and areas to stay in please!)
It may seem odd to be going in November, but presumably it will be a bit quieter/less crowded? My sister and I are going to Lisbon for a week and have a few days before that to spend elsewhere in Portugal, so we booked the Algarve - we're flying into Faro airport. (We have already been to Sintra/Cascais/Porto/Braga/other towns in Portugal so wanted to check out this area for the first time). I was thinking of booking a hotel in Faro but after researching, found that apparently there's not much to do there and it would be better to book Albufeira or Lagos, or Portimão?
We're not party people at all, the main things we'd want to do is see some beaches/nature walks/looking at churches/museums. I then realised that things might be a bit sticky as we don't have a car/can't drive, don't intend to rent anything while we're there. I understand it's possible to get a train or bus/taxi from Faro to Albufeira? Does anyone have any opinions on the general safety of these areas? I know Portugal as a country is quite safe, but I've never been to this region before.
Many thanks!
I work for a Spanish company that provides maintenance services. We have clients in the Algarve, and the difficulty in finding qualified and committed professionals for this type of work is immense. Many are absent, arrive late, charge exorbitant prices... We don’t have this kind of problem in other regions of Portugal. Why is it like this in the Algarve?"
Hi, we are planning to visit in the last week of January with our 2.5 yo toodler. Could you give us recommendations on what to do, where to go, what to eat and what to wear? We come from colder places (northern Europe), we will be renting car, we want to try short hiking, we enjoy outdoor activities, we love fresh seafood and want to pack light as we will be going with cabin bags only. Thanks a lot!!!
