ADHD Concerns

I have read through some of the older threads about having an ADHD diagnosis and being able to stay in which makes me feel better. I’m hoping that hasn’t changed? I am thinking about making an appointment with a doctor about ADHD. I was diagnosed as a kid and eventually stopped taking the medicine because I thought I didn’t need it anymore. It was disclosed when I joined. Now here I am almost 10 years later and I feel the symptoms coming back. I’m trying to get my mental health in order and make the right decision. I didn’t realize how much it has been affecting my life. Will my supervisor find out? I’m kind of embarrassed by it and would prefer if they don’t know. I know I’ll have to report it to medical and my commander will find out. But are there any serious repercussions?

PEC leveling, technician to AGR

I've read through the main 2 threads regarding this topic, but most of the discussion seems centered around AGR losses. My wing happens to be gaining AGR positions/losing Fed Techs, and my technician position is going away. With that, it sounds like they are going to offer me an AGR, and if I decline, attempt to shuffle resources to keep me as a Fed Tech. I've been reluctant to go for AGR positions in the past because our technicians are frequently able to ride T10 MPA and benefit from both sides of the system, however, it's never a guarantee.

Ignoring the AGR, what are my rights/protections in this RIF process?

If I take the AGR, will I still be covered under USERRA even though my position is being RIF'd?

Is it possible they make me resign as a technician or waive USERRA to hire into the new AGR position?

3E2X1 - Cross Train

What equipment do you get trained on and does the training qualify you for a CDL?

I'd be going to a Prime Beef but also considered going to a Red Horse, but it would be travelling to Drill quite a bit (texas to new mexico)

Cross training🫡😅

As an AGR for materiel management, I'm considering transitioning to a career in communications. Can anyone provide insight or advice on how the process of transitioning to a career in communications works from an AGR?

VMPF Question

I was looking at my VMPF and I noticed under the Air Expeditionary Force section it said "ARC ACS Rotation" with a date range on it for 6 months next year. I cant remember what it said before but its definitely different. I'm not sure exactly what it means. I asked my supervisor as well some of my other leadership about it and they're not sure either. I just wanted to see if this is something important I need to keep an eye on or otherwise. Thanks!

ReEnlistment

Had a member recently lose their clearance through what I believe is no fault of his own (months ago). That being said they had a legal issues which has been satisfied for about 6 years now. Is it possible for them to reenlist under another career field with out clear or pending investigation?

MEST Days

So I graduated basic and I am in tech school now as a dirt boy, pavements and equipment, 3E2X1. Before I left my home unit they kinda briefly told be about MEST days and that I have the option to do 30 days basically. I’ve been trying to find more information online but I can’t seem to find anything. Is it necessary? What is the main point? What are the benefits? What are the disadvantages? Is it required for a 5 skill level? Is it required to deploy? Can I do it next summer (2025)? I have a lot of questions about it cause I never really got told what it is so any help is greatly appreciated. I graduate tech school in July and I had a vacation planned a while before I left to go to basic to go on so I would like to still go on that as I have had that planned long before finding out about MEST days. Is it possible I just do 5 days and I can still go on my vacation? Vacation is supposed to be 3 weeks and after that I start college right away when I get back. Any advice is appreciated!

Sleep Disorder Diagnosis

Will a sleep disorder diagnosis affect me in the military or make me ineligible for AGR/Deployment?

So I complained to my doctor about feeling tired most mornings despite getting decent amount of sleep. Got referred to sleep medicine but ended up not using the referral.

I realized having cats and a dog constantly interrupt my sleep was the culprit afterward. After being more mindful of my sleep and keeping the pets out I feel like this isn't really a continuing issue.

I'm being requested to provide notes for antibiotics prescribed for acne but the sleep disorder thing came up in that same visit so I guess medical will document that too.

NGB-22 for VA purposes. Cannot get.

Good afternoon fine gentlemen. I separated at the end of last year and never got my ngb22. The VA currently has my active duty 214 which is 2010-2017. It also has 2 214s for deployments while I was guard. However, it does not have my full consistent 6 years of guard service from 17 to 23. Due to me palace fronting and going guard. My milconnect is account is all fucked and can't activate it. I have been on the phone with the 1800 number and the guy got my successfully locked out after trying to activate with personal information. However, when I put in the information I fail every section of it.

Is there any other way to get this God damn form to the VA?.

Some additional information. I work on an active duty Navy base, but have no idea if their FSS/MPF could help me.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Awards & Decs Correctiojs

Happy Drill Weekend, folks.

At YOUR specific squadron, who can add/fix awards to your VMPF?

Is it your CSS? Is it just FSS?

Is there a specific AFI that governs who can/can't outside just having MILPDS access?

Can I transition (🏳️‍⚧️) while in the guard?

Can I change my gender while in the guard (normal weekend warrior) or am I cooked? If I can, who do I have to ask or talk to, to get those changes into whatever system I have to? 😯

Thanks, y'all!

CF CC job qualifications?

I know unofficially of a CF CC job that will be opening up but I don't know what the job posting looks like yet and I can't ask the current CC. I have some CF experience (2 years as CFP and then 6 years cybersecurity before I commissioned) but want to make sure I'm qualified to apply if and when the job does open. The bachelor's degree I have has nothing to do with computer sciences or it, although I do have a CCAF associates in computer science. Does anyone have any information about what college courses might make someone qualified for this position? I appreciate any and all information as again, I'm not really supposed to know about the job but I know that the CF requirements are a bit more extensive than some other squadron command positions based on how long it took them to find the last two commanders.

Transfer from guard to active duty mid-contract

Hello. So I enlisted in the Air guard just a little more than 3years ago and upon joining I qualified for the EAP which I’ve used to go to college for about 7 semesters, and I also qualified for a bonus of 10k of which I am to receive half this very month of my third year in, and the rest at the end of my 6th year (I haven’t received any bonus yet). Now that being said, things in my life have gotten me where I now want/need to transfer to active duty. I’ve already started the process with an active duty recruiter and my conditional release from the guard has been approved. However I’m worried about the amount of money I’ve gotten from the EAP to go college. Would I have to repay the amount I’ve used so far? I don’t mind not receiving any part of my bonus even if I completed half the contract, but is there any way I could be leaving repayment free ? Also upon googling the question, I’ve come across something somewhat similar to what I’m looking for. I’m attaching the picture here for you to look at. Thank you.

Base refusing to backpay dependent BAH.

Hello, I was hoping someone here might be able to provide some insight on my unique issue.

So, I'm in a deployed environment right now. I've been here since April 15. I was not able to attain my marriage certificate until recently because the state of Georgia was dragging its feet, but I have been legally married since January 5th, which my certificate reflects. I was not able to update my status until April 26th.

Currently, my base's finance is telling me they cannot backpay me for the days I've already been here because of DoD 7000.14-R (pictured below) which states that a service member must provide certification of marriage by the due date (end of month), or they will not be authorized dependent BAH or back paid without commander approval.

Is this legitimate, or is finance trying to pull one over on me? Do I have a case to contend this? Here is the excerpt they sent:

Profile Locked

So to preface, I’m prior service and I started talking to an Air Force reserves recruiter a while back however there were no job openings at my local base. So I thought I would see what the ANG had you offer and if there were any open slots, which there were. I filled out and returned all the required documents for the Recruiter to start my profile to see if I’ll be approved to go through MEPS. The recruiter stated that a profile had already been started (probably by the AF Recruiter) but it was locked, and he could not access it to start the process. It’s now been 1 to 2 months waiting for this to be resolved. The recruiter says he still hasn’t received a response from AFRISS or the AF Recruiter. The question is has any one ever dealt with this, heard of it or know why this is even occurring?

AGR vs Technician

Need some guidance on which would be better for my future. Currently a SSgt been in 6 years (making 55k) on title10 all my years. Waiting to apply for an initial-commission/officer position. Don’t know how long I’ll wait and if I’ll get the slot of course. Now offered a GS11 technician position which pays 81k. Not sure if I should take the Tech position, my title 10 orders are not technically guaranteed but I’m confident I’ll keep getting 365 orders. Thanks in advance!

Admin separation by Statement of Selection?

What is the process for an admin separation by Statement of Selection?

I am and E5, 3 years AD and palace chased into ANG for the remaining 3 years on my contract. I have about one year left. I was diagnosed with asthma recently and was told it is a medical condition that makes me not fit for duty. At my last drill I received a Statement of Selection form from Personnel and was advised I can either fight it or I can waive it and separate. I decided to move forward with separation and sent the completed Statement of Selection to my unit. Since then it seems like no one I've contacted really knows what happens next. Any info on this process? The form said something about separation having to be complete within 60 days of signing.

Can I do the RAP program as a guardsman?

I'm am currently in tech school and I was told about the RAP program. Once I contacted my recruiter, he said it isn't a thing for the guard, but I might be able to do it with an active-duty recruiter. And after looking at the RAP application it says that tech schoolers can apply. I just wasn't sure if people have done this before or if it's even possible.

Is E-5 life actually better?

I made a post a while ago about why I’ve chose to stay E-4 for the last 8 years of my service. (I’m at 10 now). The comments & responses were nothing but positive and supportive. To summarize, I simply enjoy being in the guard and staying an E-4 has never held me back or put me at a disadvantage. I can go forever as to why E-4 is the best rank in the military, especially in the guard/reserves. I want to hear from those that have either just got pinned or have stayed an E-5 forever. What is better about NCO life? What advantages and opportunities come with being E-5? Do any of you wish you had just stayed E-4?

RPA Pilot days per month required

Looking at switching from flying Guard tankers to RPA, trying to get a feel for how many days per month a typical ANG RPA pilot needs to commit to the unit each month (flying, drill, misc duties). Is RPA Pilot a good deal for an airline pilot?

Activated while on PPL from Federal Position

I am intending to use Paid Paternity Leave soon. I also have a mandatory class that the ANG will be sending me too during that same time.

Will I be okay going on orders for that period, without needing to come off PPL?

If I am on PPL for three months, but then I am activated for orders during that same time, can I let the PPL run? Or do I need to come off PPL? Do the type of orders matter?

Office Structure

I just transferred to a new shop where the entire shop is flowing every decision through the GS full time civilian (not dual status). Is this normal for mil to be taking orders/ scheduling duty based off what the civilian says? Genuinely curious I just haven’t been in a situation like this.

Does your BMT PT test count ?

Is there some where that states whether or not your BMT PT test counts after you get to your unit. After I came back from BMT and Tech School my unit immediately made me take a PT test and told me my BMT test didn’t actually count. I reluctantly took it, still did fine but I’m confused whether or not it actually counts or not.

GS-11 Position Offered

Hello,

I was offered a dual status tech position in the ANG with the pay scale of GS-11, and so I recently just got my Bat/Brig to sign off on my conditional release from the ARNG and it's currently sitting at state.

I'm just reading a lot of diverse information when it comes to pay, benefits and what not that are conflicting with each other. Moreso just looking for clarity on Pay (this is my first time with a GS payscale, Los Angeles Locality).

I'm currently 30, and was hoping to keep this position for a while. I'm looking into potential benefits that are not really spoken about. I already have tricare RS for myself so I'm not really worried there.

My worries would be, PTO, extra pay, benefits in terms of AD time, or even VA Loans. I grew up in poverty, and hope to create a decent future for my family. This opportunity came at a great time as I was ready to settle down with life.

Any advice, information, is greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advanced.

Personally Procured Travel

When I was AD, there was a form we could fill out to allow us to personally procure travel before and after TDYs if we wanted to take leave. I think they called it Leave in Conjunction with Official Travel. We could then be compensated up to the City Pair Program YCA rate.

How does this work when using ST days? No one at my unit seems to know how this works and I get a different answer from finance depending on who I ask. The JTR says we’re supposed to use our CTO, but I’ve had that requirement waived before while on AD. Does this just require commander approval? It seems reasonable that if we want to either procure our own tickets that are cheaper than the contract rate, or fly a different itinerary and be reimbursed up to the contract rate, we should be able to.

Additionally, what should DTS itinerary look like in this event? If I am on ST days for a week and am spending time with family or something afterwards, before returning to duty station, must DTS match the days I’m on orders, or can DTS extend past orders end date with a zeroed out meals/lodging (ie no extra cost to government than what would’ve otherwise been incurred) to reflect my actual itinerary?

Thanks all! I know the right answer is to ask my chain of command, but I get a different answer from everyone, and no one can really back it up with a specific regulation, which leads me to believe everyone is just operating under unsubstantiated assumptions.
