I mean if I need an effect to make a video in adobe premier, should I record the audio, make the video first and then make the effect to combine it or what should I do? how to make everything match together?
I'm editing some videos using Capcut but the captions really lack some nice features and cannot be customized much using capcut. I know people using premiere Pro can save the captions as graphics and then import them in AE for further editing. Is there a way to do that from Capcut to AE ?
I have a client who needs me to create a screen comp to go onto a laptop with a green screen. They asked for just the alpha so they could color correct the original shot and drop the alpha on top. For this one shot there is a hand that goes in front of the screen and by dropping the alpha on top, that will cover the hand.
Usually, I'd be the one doing the final grade and composite and could put the screen under the shot, but someone else is doing that for them and maybe doesn't know how to do it.
Is there a way in AE to create the screen for the laptop, but with the alpha having the cutout of the hand that is in front of the screen?
I am currently in the throws of buyers regret here, so sorry you get a front row seat to the pity party. I am currently rendering out a rather simple VFX composite clip. It takes 14 minutes on my fully binned 16" M4 Max (4TB SSD, 128gb RAM) and to my surprise it took 13 minutes on my fully binned 16" M1 Max (2TB SSD, 64gb RAM). Here are some of the components involved in the render.
Shouldn't the M4 Max be faster? By at least a small amount? Do we think the plugins are bottlenecking the whole comp? Should I return and get an M1 Max for less than 1/2 the cost? (the current one i am using is not mine). Anyways your insights are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
my element 3d doesn’t work, what do I do?
I'm planning on getting After Effects and a new laptop but I don't know which one. Could y'all help me choose.
i'm totally new to the world of after effects, i started watching a tutorial that helped me a lot but in the part where he's going to animate the hair he uses a script, when i try to use the script my after act is different from the guy in the tutorial, in the boy's the script closes by itself, in mine the popout stays on the screen unless I close it (I've tried waiting to see if it comes out but it doesn't) I'd like to know if I'm doing something wrong, if any of you could help me, I'll send a video demonstration in the comments of this post.

Hi guys, any tips on creating this glitch effect in After Effects? It lowers quality, adds color shifts, and reflects when breaking apart.
I’ve tried tutorials but still feel lost. Do you think plugins were used? Here’s where I’m stuck:
-Splitting into blocks: Used a displacement map with fractal noise (cubes), but it looks off.
-Random movement: Wiggle on scale makes the character too small, and on displacer pro size, it duplicates too much.
-Color blending: Tried blending modes, but it’s not as smooth as theirs.
-Mirror effect: Used Motion Tiles, but theirs duplicates more dramatically.
This is just practice with an example character. Any advice? Thx guys
i just Discovered that Shift+Tilde(~) key brings up transform properties of a layer.

I am in the process of creating new templates and I want to use the Protected Region feature so that the end user can make the template longer in Premiere Pro. My question is just, is it possible to detect when the composition is shorter than a certain value? Let's say I have a template that is 5 seconds (example image), with 2 Protected Regions of one second. I would then want to detect when the composition (in Premiere Pro) is 2 seconds or shorter, because if the end user makes the template shorter than 2 seconds, it is going to speed up the template. The solution I use now is by including a comment in the template with that you should not make the layer shorter than 2 seconds. But here I'm dealing with people who don't read this anyway or simply don't think about it, so I'm looking for a way to REALLY prevent this.

Say I have a 200x100 jpg in a 1080p comp. Then I precompose that picture. The bounding box is now the size of the comp with the anchor point at 960x540. I could SWEAR that when I turned on collapse transformations and the bounding box shifted to the size of the jpg, I could then auto center the anchor point to that bounding box. It no longer does that. I even reinstalled earlier versions of AE and still, no.
Did I maybe use a plug in to do this? Did I dream that I did this?
In case someone can think of an alternate solution, my problem is that I have 300 pictures of varying sizes in a 1080p comp that I used Pastiche to arrange into a specific shape with specific sizing. Then I precomposed each individual image so they would all be at 100% scale in order to use one expression that scaled them up based on a luma matte. This workflow is only efficient if I could easily auto center the anchor points of each precomp.
Hoping the community can prevail,
Jess
I am pretty new to after effects and I just cant find my default bar thingy. I used the standard tab but it doesn't have the motion blur
Hello, I'm considering upgrading my current laptop to a desktop PC. I asked customer service for a recommendation, and they gave me this option.
One of my biggest worries is if only one SSD will be enough because I consider RAM won't be a problem with what I use After Effects for.
Any recommendations are welcome!
