A place to talk about any and everything Afghan Whigs.

I love GD, but, perhaps not that much….
Hey! Selling some awesome autographed records on eBay.
To me, these represent the last of the art of making an “album.”
Other than…Streetlight Manifesto’s cds, I can’t think of a whole lot of releases that flow so well together.
I may be way off, but either one of those I can put in my cd player (yes, stil have one) or play the whole thing with a bottle of whisky and a pipe, not be bored, and love life…albeit with a jaded, melancholy perspective.
YMMV
Just.. why??
"See U Thru" takes its cue from the Afghan Whigs’ track "I Am Fire" (off their phenomenal album Do To The Beast), reinventing its essence through a bold hip-hop lens. This fresh take preserves the original’s emotional depth and thematic power, while reshaping it into a vibrant and modern soundscape. Anchored by a gripping bassline and introspective lyrics, this reinterpretation pays homage to the song's lasting legacy, seamlessly blending genres and breathing a new perspective into its timeless spirit.
DJ L'Assassinö - See U Thru (the Afghan Whigs 'I Am Fire' Reimagined)
I first got into Afghan Whigs in 1996 when I was watching a Saturday morning rock video show and Greg Dulli comes dancing into a parking garage in black jacket and black jeans singing what I remember to be My Enemy. I went and bought the Black Love album that week. However, now when I search the Web for the My Enemy video, there is nothing. Has it been scrubbed from existence or am I thinking of a different video? It's definitely Afghan Whigs.
I'll go first, obviously - Flame Of The West by Big Country
There's a new Shawn Smith Twilight Sessions single out via bandcamp that has the FLAC and mp3 versions of A Glass Of You and Fair Colonus from Etcetera!
Though I shared an excellent quality rip of the FLAC / mp3 versions of the entire Etcetera release I got from someone a few months back, there was electronic feedback in parts of Fair Colonus present, as it was on all copies of the vinyl itself and not a result of the rip. I was told by several who emailed the label asking what was up with that issue that their claim was it was present on what they were provided. Myself and everyone else who had heard the song on youtube knew that was false, but the song, which had been on Shawn's myspace years ago, had no other release.
Now, these songs get an official release and the issues with Fair Colonus from Etcetera are thankfully NOT present here!

Saw them two years ago and the gig was beautiful. Great venue, sound and lights.
"Let It Ride" reimagines the soulful, haunting essence of The Afghan Whigs' "Demon in Profile", infusing it with a fresh twist that blends hip-hop rhythms and beats to honor the timeless quality of the original track. This version brings a new energy and pulse to the song, amplifying its raw intensity with powerful lyrical flow and bold instrumental layers, while preserving the emotional depth that fans of the original will recognize. Through this unique interpretation, "Let It Ride" captures the spirit of "Demon in Profile" in a way that feels both reverent and innovative, bridging genres to connect with audiences on a profound level.
In short: I fucked around and found out. Enjoy.

Anyone on here have copies of these, either physical or digital?

I have a folder of Now We Can Begin but it's 2 cds so I'm guessing it's just a fan compiled playlist that floated around on p2p programs.
Help, i need to fins a vinyl copy original or reissue by Christmas- for the loml! im in Australia, we cant get anything here, its shit, cant even get Afghan Whigs to come out here, does anyone have a copy they want to sell or know of anywhere outside of Down under? TIA
Seeing an odd amount of love for Wussy on my socials lately. Yes? No? Idk what I’m asking, but Cinci.
Long shot but anyone on here looking to possibly parting with their copy?
I am looking for the full show of the 1994 MTV Movie Awards, not the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards, the 1994 MTV Movie Awards. Greg Dulli performed as part of The Backbeat Band at this event, yes, this performance is uploaded a few times on the YouTube websites, yet not most of the rest of the show. I have been looking for this show for quite sometime, and I would love to see it.
I am looking for the full show of the 1994 MTV Movie Awards. Greg Dulli was in the Backbeat Band, and they performed some songs at this show. The full show is not uploaded on YouTube or archive websites. I would love to see this show, and have been looking for it for quite sometime. MTV was so great for most of the 1980's and 1990's.
This guy truly is a believer. He created his own universe. A body of music with a stamp on it. And COMPLETELY underrated. Whether it’s a collaboration or a cover, it always has this Greg Dulli sauce on it (the 18+ tag).
Real fans see I miss the debut Big Top Halloween (rare like an early Picasso) and the first Twilight Singers album, but that one’s on my list. Some might say it all sounds the same, but last 30+ years this guy has proven to believe in a sound that followed no hipster shit. Just been doing his thaaaaang. Love him! 🥰
Very legendary, I know lol
Hello people... Does anyone have the chords to The Twilight Kid? I'm thinking about covering that song in my band but I can't find the chords online.. TIA
Couldn’t figure out why I’m so obsessed with this Mj Lenderman tune. Then I figured out the strong Whigs vibe it had.
We were lucky enough to get tickets for Jack White's excellent show in a small-medium venue in north London tonight. And I was delighted to see Patrick on drums. They crushed it. The new record is sick. Proper blues garage rock and roll, wonderful tunes
I am looking for the full show of the 1994 MTV Movie Awards. Not the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards, the 1994 MTV Movie Awards full show. I know that the entire performance of the Backbeat band is uploaded on YouTube. I would love to see the full show and am hoping that I could get helped. It would mean a lot. I have been looking for it for a long time. Thanks.
