How to import?
I already asked this here but people got confused to what I am referring to as I am not able to send videos in this subreddit.
So basically when u hold ctrl + alt + LEFT CLICK (not drag) it switches the modes of the brush that allows u to modify it, I think there are 3 modes:
Im not sure if that's the correct order but the point is, I don't wanna be able to switch those, I come from photoshop and simply want to be able to change size/softness and nothing else, because when I am working and dragging on my graphic tablet affinity mistakes it as a click sometimes and it switches the modes, and because it goes through an order of the modes and I accidentally switch it once I gotta tap it a bunch of times till I'm back at the one I need, really annoying and this destroys my workflow. Id like to simply turn this off.
This is the only thing holding be back at the moment of really taking affinity serious and switching to it.

I just got an iPad Pro M4 11 for editing on the go and decided to give Affinity Photo 2 a try on it, so I bought it and immediately loved it on my PC. Now my iPad arrived and although I really like the software on it as well, I recognize that the device get‘s really hot.
All I do is simple retouching with stamp tools on an empty pixel layer and dodge and burn with curves, so painting on masks with the Pencil Peo.
Is there any setting I need to alter or any other tip? It‘s getting so warm that it‘s kinda uncomfortable for my resting palm for longer periods on time.
Hi im a rookie to affinity photo, but I want to remove one of the colors in a treshold. I got the black and white colors, but i want to make the white removed, or at least transparent. How do I do that.
For some reason the textbox decided to have a background color, and i can’t figure out how to clear it. Anyone else had this issue, or knows how to return to normal? I run the newest version on a mac.
There is one feature I liked in Photoshop. Being able to have the app slice up four images I'd scanned at once in my scanner.
is there a way to do accomplish this in AP?
Thank you
Whether they be on video or written is okay for me. It's notoriously difficult to find anything. Whereas, for Photoshop (what I formally used), they're all over the place. I find the layout very different in AP and creating a map far more difficult. Any help would be great!
So I was looking the new Call of Duty website earlier today, and saw this background texture... What is the name of this pattern and how do I generate it?
I was having trouble creating a realistic depth of field blur. I watched a few tutorials, but many used a gradient to add depth to the background. While that method can work sometimes, it often looks strange—especially if there are objects at varying distances from the subject.
The built-in depth of field blur filter has some limitations. Hopefully, a future update will improve it, but in the meantime, I found a workaround. It does require several steps, but if you're interested, here’s how you can do it:
I know this is a lot of steps, so it might not be for everyone, but I thought it was pretty cool and wanted to share. I'm still new to this, so if anyone has suggestions for improving the process, I'd love to hear them!
Hello Everyone, A new Affinity Photo 2.0 user here. Does anyone know how to identify the focus points or areas of a RAW image in Affinity Photo? I used exposure bracketing with different focus points and need to create HDR image with focus stacking.
Thanks in advance.
Hey everyone! Anyone have a work around for getting their metadata in JPEG XL files. I exported a test file in JXL and was blown away by the quality difference, but noticed there was absolutely no metadata in the JXL file. Until there is metadata in JXL exports, the files are completely useless to me. But that 79% file size reduction sounds very appealing...
How can I load files and position them precisely in the centre of the Affinity Photo 2 workspace? In Procreate, the files automatically align to the centre of the canvas, but I'm looking for a similar feature in Affinity Photo 2.
Hello folks:
A while ago, I asked about Affinity suite going to the dark side of subscription. And I went on a hunt for a real alternative. I've discovered PhotoLine: It is amazingly powerful, despite the somewhat dated UI and dull presentation on their website. Just wanted to share this with you so others are aware too. Oh, and also, PhotoScape X. Both terrific, buy-to-own apps. PhotoScape has a free version too. :)
PhotoLine can do deep photo editing + some vector work + basic DTP. It's not a DTP software. Photo editing is where it truly, truly shines. It can import PSD files along with smart objects - if that matters to you. Heck, it can even do some basic animations. It can do so much more than that. You can also link it up with other apps and extend the functions. The wiki actually covers it in nice detail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhotoLine.
https://www.pl32.com/ - the app. I highly recommend trying it out with a trial, and don't be fooled by the dated UI. I discovered that one of the users actually did a complete overhaul of the UI icons and posted it for free on the forum. So you can make it look very much like PS if that's what you're looking for. I myself prefer the old 90s software charm.
So I tried v2 and stumbled upon the same issue I faced when trying v1. Just can’t get the basic brush to work the way I want it to.
My usage is pretty basic. In photoshop I use a circular brush to paint black or white on mask layers to dodge and burn (curved adjust layer ).
My settings are : Size: varied as per application Hardness: 0 Airbrush: Off Flow: 2%-3%
In photoshop I get soft brush strokes which build up gradually and blend really well if done properly.
In affinity however, within the first couple of strokes I get visible edges of where I have brushed to dodge or burn. The retouch looks really badly done as a result.
I was so frustrated I just uninstalled the trial, but I thought maybe I am missing something obvious in the settings? I looked but could not really make anything work.
Am I crazy? Or is the brush tool just not as refined ?
Update: installed the trial again. I don’t know what to say honestly, but it works as expected now ??? I am really confused but I will take this win for now and go on with the trial. Thanks everyone for the feedback and suggestions.
Awesome sale for Affinity V2. Finally upgraded from photo v1 to the full suite v2 for a great price.
All of a sudden any text I add has a white background, be it art text or text frame. I have no background colour selected so I don't know what's happened! I have probably hit a random shortcut somewhere without realising, can anyone help please?
Hi. How good is the Affinity Photo deghosting ability, compared to Photoshop, when you merge exposure bracket into HDR? I have tested in Linux Darktable, Digikam, Hugin and they were horrific. My Fujifilm X-H2 in camera HDR is also very bad. Should i install Affinity to test this feature, if i do, i will install it in Linux. I want to remove my Windows 11 install. There is the install scrip for Linux, but how do i legally do that?
I'm on an LG UltraGear 32GS95UE-B, HDR enabled, using the RTINGS color profile.
It's only Affinity products that seem to have this issue. I tried messing with the settings, but to no avail. I CTRL + clicked the app and reset all the settings, but it's still messed up. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
everything looks really dark, besides the (presumably) white highlights appearing as green
