Came up with a rather ingenious idea. Well I thought so anyway. Since the BlueMap plugin I am using for the servers online map creates a basic http webserver so folk can view the live map. Well, I figured why not use this web server to host other stuff too. With that in mind, I created a server logo in BlockBench and saved it out as a standard image. I then copied it to the bluemap\web\assets folder so it is available publicly.
Then using the ImageFrame plugin I imported the image in as maps. Finally, I added them to item frames, then made the frames invisible and BOOM! I can have Hypixel style artwork in-game without using a third party hosting service.
Great for home hosters and just wondering if others have ever done this. If so, is there any drawbacks?
I bought a server for me and my friends we are 10 people and had 6 gb of ram for a vanilla 1.21.4 server i upgraded to 8 gb, beause it kept crashing due to ram overload but it still crashes. I looked online and everywehere it says 6gb is plenty for 10.
I posted this on r/HomeServer and found out about this sub so ill shoot my shot. I plan on running a ~10 player minecraft server, maybe 15 max, and I don't plan on having mods but it should definitely be considered. Now, I just want something cheap with decent chunk loading, and stable TPS, but I can consider lower performance. I also want power efficiency since I will be running this 24/7. I also want this to be really dirt cheap for a minecraft server im talking about <80 freedom currency. Here are my planned specs:
-Dell Optiplex 3050 mini (i3 6100t variant) -8gb 2400mhz ddr4 ram (6gb allocated) -128gb ssd
all of this costs ~54 freedom currency price converted.
now, is this enough for my current requirements?
additional question: what os should I use? I don't want to go windows so I'm thinking ubuntu, or another linux distro. I want something efficient but also "user friendly" for my peers who might need to modify the server without me (or to aid my confusion of technical jargon).
If you have other questions or suggestions please do ask.
So i downloadet multiverscore + the inventory addon and created a second world with it but now if i enter the main world all my stuff is away. What can i do?
🟣🟣Do you know what this plugin for Minecraft is called???🟣🟣
My Pterodactyl Fabric MC server install is failing to install the appropriate fabric.jar.
Goal: Run MC 1.21.1 with Fabric 0.110.0+1.21.1 and Fabric Loader 1.16.0 as per Fabric Dev.
Correct jar location (I think): https://maven.fabricmc.net/net/fabricmc/fabric-api/fabric-api/0.110.0%2B1.21.1/fabric-api-0.110.0+1.21.1.jar
When I enter 0.110.0+1.21.1 in the Fabric Version box on the Pelican Fabric Egg, it reaches out to here instead: https://maven.fabricmc.net/net/fabricmc/fabric-installer/
Obviously it's not available in this directory... I'm not understanding a couple things here, could anyone help who's also setup a Fabric server? At the end of the day I need a jar, I guess I'm misunderstanding how to acquire it if it requires it being in that install directory.
Edit to clarify: This is using Pelican Egg updated last month
Server runs on paper, 1.21.4
After downloading geyser+waterfall, players complained about the redstone being really bugged, so I decided to remove the plugin, but even after that, the redstone remained bugged so I think the plugin changed a lot in the files. Is there any way to fix this?? Please help
I currently have a monthly subscription of about 20 dollars a month but if i we're to switch to a mini pc how much electricity and wifi could it cost per month? I have on average 10-18 players and the server will run 24/7. Also i have 40+ plugins and 5k+ lines of skript will that effect electricity/wifi cost?
The title is my question.
We plan building mob farms such as Creeper and gold farms. I've seen reddit posts saying they lower mob counts and it breaks farms but those are from old posts.
Is it still like that today? And can I adjust the mob count thing to be like Vanilla? (I'm using Apex host)
How does one own a Minecraft server that automatically backs up?
I am looking for a texture pack similar to Whimscape. If you can help me, you are an angel."
Firstly, I should say that I always used hosting services before, but now I want to assemble my own home server mainly for minecraft and general storage. I plan on hosting medium sized modpacks like RLCraft, SkyFactory etc. but have no idea what would be enough. My budget is around 3000-4000 PLN, which is like 1k usd
Hi! I wanted to ask if there is a way to set a time limit on command usage? I can't seem to find anything in LuckPerms about that.
Basically don't want people to be able to spam world edit commands on their plots because by spamming they can bypass the limitation of only being able to use it on their plot and sometimes crash the server 💀
hello there, i was wondering what the best anticheat is, that works with a fabric based server and can prevent specific mods from beeing used aswell as client detection etc.
I will try to keep it simple.
Me and my group wanted to play some Minecraft SMP for the holidays. About 30 people, usually with only ~10 people playing simultaneously. We ordered 8GB RAM, but the average usage was like 1.5GB. PaperMC and very simple QoL plugins.
Paid about 60$/quarterly, catched it on a sale during Black Friday.
I didn't want to listen to the bad reviews because I know Rust has partnered with ShockByte recently and I didn't want to accept someone like Facepunch would partner with a shady hosting provider.
In a span of 2 weeks:
I had to make a ticket about 8 times and contact the live support 15 times because there were issues on the side of a hosting all the time (lags, despite our server being optimized af). Only in the last 3 days, the entire control panel went offline and the server crashed about 25 times.
Do expect AI on a live chat - just say "connect me to a live agent" for a free pass. But sometimes you just get ghosted... :)
The server had to be resynced twice and even allocated to a new node, resulting in changing IP and yada yada. Not even that helped.
I bought a bigger disk space for backups because our server had about 12GB in total and the default disk has a capacity of only like 10GB.
Their backup system wasn't functional the entire time. No matter if you did manual, recurring or during the server being offline backups, they failed to be made 10 times until you got 1 successful one. It was a miracle. ShockByte knows about this issue, but they were consistently gaslighting me into something being wrong on my side, or trying to provide me with non-functional workarounds. Zero honesty about the problem.
They never provided such information beforehand yet allow you to purchase the extension. And couldn't even give me an ETA when is it gonna be fixed. Their solution? 18 cents worth of a compensation.
I wanted to provide a proof of the gaslighting, but surprise, my ticket related to backups disappeared from the Support tab... :)
They got one of the devs to try to "fix the backups for me", estimated 40 minutes but instead my server was offline for 2 hours during this time. And it didn't work anyways, even his backup of my server failed.
Which leads to not even their ticket system working properly for the past days. In order to make a ticket, you have to link your server but I couldn't even find mine in the list, so I was left in the dark and couldn't solve most problems.
But don't worry, you can buy faster responses for 3$. I did purchase it and it still took like 12 hours for a response. :)
And if you try to get in touch with the live chat, you just get ghosted as well.
Luckily, even the support confirmed my case was so severe they even agreed on providing me a refund for my purchase, despite the purchase being made 3 weeks ago.
So I just cancelled the service, hopefully I'll get a refund and just switch to another hosting.
But be careful, the moment your service is cancelled (you won't even be informed when is that going to happen), ALL OF YOUR DATA will get nuked... :) Which is funny because the backups didn't work so we were not even able to try and make the latest backup. Luckily we only lost 12 hours of progress.
There were much more minor issues, such as the plugin tabs not working properly despite being advertised as one of the selling points (you are unable to update plugins and sometimes even uninstall).
Even their own guides they send you don't work properly.
And some other things I probably forgot about.
ShockByte doesn't care about you, your time, your data. Nothing. But they'll gladly take the money for it.
Take care and don't do the same mistake as I did.

Edit 1: Shared this post on ShockByte's official Discord. It got quietly removed from there because it's against their rules "4) Advertising" – I'm not allowed to post links on there without an approval (despite it being a subreddit they're moderating themselves), and then I got falsely accused of threatening the staff member... :)
Edit 2: Funny thing about Shockbyte's Discord, they have a support channel with like 50 unanswered technical issues in past 3 weeks (pretty simple questions even I know answers to), people are asking for help there because they can't make a ticket the official way (similar to what I experienced - can't link your server), and the community manager cares about me and their PR more than actually helping people – reacting to me basically immediately... :)
Edit 3: Apparently they tried to improve their customer experience a month ago and failed.
Howdy there, was looking to see if there was a tool similar to the https://hoplite.gg/installer that my team could use to distribute a private fabric modpack easily for people who aren't very tech-y. Is there something like that that exists?
I’m looking to upgrade my old DDR3 server to something newer and one of the choices I need to make is buying a new CPU. I want to keep it on the cheaper end, but I don’t want to focus purely on price either. Right now I’m stuck between these two:
Intel Core i3-14100F: https://a.co/d/fXwfUlW
OR
Intel Core i5-12400F: https://a.co/d/66QLD2O
I know that Minecraft favors higher clock speeds and single thread performance, so I tried my best to find something that fit those perimeters. The server I’m planning on running will have around 80 mods with a max of 8 players at once. I’m going to have at least 32GB of RAM on top of that.
Hi, I've had reports of cheating from one of my admins lately but bedrock doesn't log commands on the console, and at the moment its just he said she said. Is there any addon that logs commands for bedrock? Or some sort of anti cheat addon that has a similar feature? Thanks!
Hello! I'm preparing to update my server from 1.21.1 to 1.21.4+ when next stable paper is out.
Some items on my server use custom models via datapacks, most of them are custom emeralds.
Since I've used them a lot already, I would like to keep them intact after the update.
How do I update datapack without breaking already existing items and keep using assigned "custom_model_data" numbers? Here is my emerald.json
{
"parent": "minecraft:item/generated",
"textures": {
"layer0": "minecraft:item/emerald"
},
"overrides":
[
{ "predicate": { "custom_model_data": 127001}, "model": "tutorial/kulek"},
{ "predicate": { "custom_model_data": 127002}, "model": "tutorial/kulek2"},
{ "predicate": { "custom_model_data": 127003}, "model": "tutorial/kulek3"},
{ "predicate": { "custom_model_data": 127004}, "model": "tutorial/kulek4"}
]
}
How do I use "give" command in 1.21.4+? Here is what it looks like in 1.21.1
/give Gurgie emerald[minecraft:custom_model_data=127002]
Hi everyone,
I'm currently running a Velocity proxy for my Minecraft server network and am using LuckPerms to manage permissions. I want to set up permissions so that a specific group (e.g., "friends") can only access a specific server (e.g., "MissileWars") using the /server
command, while not being able to see or access any other servers. Is this possible in any way, would gladly take all kind of suggestions :)
Hello everyone! I was recently port forwarding a modded Minecraft server, and on the first day, I was having troubles with my internet only for my computer. For some reason, after exactly two hours, my internet will go out and I cannot reconnect for 15-20 minutes after, in which it comes back online like nothing happened. I’ve tried updating the firmware on my router, which is the TP-link Archer AX21. I’ve also tried restarting my computer and the router, to no avail. I’ve even tried setting the DHCP address timing to 2880 minutes, when it was originally set to 120 minutes, but that has also not worked. I’m not very knowledgeable about this kind of thing, so if anybody could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!
As a side note, this is the first time I’ve port forwarded, and it’s the first time I’ve ever had this issue. Also, my ISP is COX, and as far as I know, they allow port forwarding

Hi All,
We're trying to develop a Prison Server, we've got some good enchants, and things like that, but there's really just one thing we're struggling with, making a hook to get players to stay and continue playing, we don't want the server to just be another Prison Server, but we're really struggling to find something that will keep players engaged long-term.
If anyone has any suggestions be that ideas or even just ways to think of something new like this, I'd massively appreciate it!
Hey guys!
We're building Tether - an android app that lets you host your own Minecraft server directly from your phone with just one tap. There's no technical setup needed, no monthly fees, no queues, and it's entirely free. You can easily install mods, share a simple join link with friends, and play both locally and online, works for both Java and Bedrock.
We would love to hear your feedback on the concept and any potential features you'd want to see?
Your input would really help shape this project! 😄
This is a datapack / resource pack for Minecraft Forge 1.15.2. This pack adds a variety of balls to the game allowing the playing of sports in the game. The balls are all modified Slimes.
I need to update it to Fabric 1.20.1. Can someone help?
Here is a link to what it adds: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/gvf20n/i_added_a_ton_of_playable_sports_to_minecraft/
