Hi there,
I have an question. I play a role in a soap television series. It’s a recurring role. But I dont know what to put on my resume. What kind of roles do you have in a soap television series. Like is supporting role or side role a term in soaps? And when are you considerd to be a supporting role.
Hello, so I have a audition for Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman and I have to do a one minute poem or folktale and I am doing ‘The White Misty Women Poem’ by Sylvia Frances which goes like this ‘The white-misty women visible when a lot of fog rises, it gets very cold and everything is old even the trees don't grow anymore they stand there like statues,
but make no mistake they are alive, and very merry peaceful and quiet only our hearts get restless in knowing their history, not funny as the small statue of little man-piss in Brussels but very sad and tragic,
it goes back several centuries women, who cannot mourn their friends' death because they have suffered so horrible
condemned to death without guilt: hanged or tortured to death, that is why they are still there now, those women, yes, they are innocent they stand at every bend, but when we walk by, they don't bother us, they politely grant
centuries ago women are sentenced to death, if they look beautiful or are too slim, they are declared to be witches and they must die,
everything happens here on this gallows field, almost every village has some kind of gallows field, remnants of that superstitious era
it's so icy cold now, then I know what that means brrrrrrr!’ So I was wondering if anyone knows how to move and act this? Thank you for reading
I have an audition for Godspell coming up and I'm struggling to find a monologue. I am auditioning for Jesus so could anyone help me find one?
Any suggestions as to where can I get approx 6 headshots within 100-200$ range in LA?

This is my first time joining an acting class. This school that I’m attending is based in manhattan, nyc but I prefer not to tell the name of the acting coach (obviously I don’t want to get sued) It’s not an actual school more like a studio.
So let me get into the story why I think I’m being scammed by this acting coach. First day, I received emotions monologues from them. They just told me to memorize the line and when I’m done just go sit in front of the camera and act, which I did like three times until they felt satisfied with my acting.
Mind you, it’s my first day and before I started and paid for the class, I told them that I never been in any acting classes before so I’m starting from zero. But I thought they just wanted to see how I was doing in the first class and I was hoping the second class they will teach me the basic lesson of acting to me like they said in the course plan, but I was wrong. My second class was the same as my first class. They just gave me a monologue to memorize then go sit in front of the camera and act again, they said they’ll send me feedback but I never received any from them and I’ve been attending the class for the 4th time now and it’s been like this since day 1, is this normal? Is this really part of the acting class or I’m just being scammed by these people?
Hi Winnie, so here a few reasons why I think it would be a good idea for me to have the scholarship:
Firstly, how are you supposed to learn and grow in your acting if you don't get feedback? I think feedback is fundamental to actors, because other wise, how else are they going to find out what they are doing well at and what they need to work on? If it is positive feedback, that will make the actor proud and happy with them selve for achieving what they have maybe worked on for a while.
And if it's negative feedback (something they need to work on more) it might make the actor doubt there potential , but in the long term it will want to make them keep going with there acting and reach there full potential. So that is why I really want this scholarship, because that means I can thrive and learn and grow in my acting, and I really want to achieve that because acting is really fun for me. And I am committed to this and I will not disappear, or quit because I want to become a really good actor. I hope that was a good little essay, have a good day, bye 😊
Can anyone please share a great acting (drama) curriculum for a semester-long or, better, a year-long after-school program at an elementary school?
We need to cover the following age groups: Gr. K-2 and Gr. 3-5
Thank you so much!
Hi there! New to this subreddit! I'm a senior in High School, thespian of 12 years and 25 shows, and I wanna perform a thespy for scholarships. For my dramatic one I'm doing Mary Warrens testamony from The Crucible. However I need a contrasting monologue for it too, but I really cannot find one that I like and think fits me. Any recommendations?
I wanna become a better actor while I’m still here in Colorado, so I was wondering what the best acting schools/classes are out there in this state. I’m currently in high school (not going to college) just want an acting class to take before I head out to New York for my writing career (want to be a writer and an actor) so lmk if there’s any classes that you guys have taken that you would recommend.
Btw, I’m aware this state has nothing amazing in comparison to a different state like California where you’re bound to find a lot, but being that this state isn’t saturated with that realm of art and creativity, I’m hoping there’s a few gems that some of you could recommend.
I am pushing the Wednesday morning class up to 10:30 am Pacific to make sure you Europeans can take class. This will make class in the UK at 6:30 pm, and 7:30 pm in most European countries. this is the second time in my life where ive questioned if i should risk it all to be an actress. im 15, and its the only thing ive felt passionate about, but im not confident. ive only done theater but i want to be a film actress. back in September i started attending acting classes for commercials and my teacher was super great and an actor too, but i noticed how much harder it is to perfect my acting when im supposed to be so serious as opposed to stage acting. i got so anxious to do a commercial scene where i was supposed to act like i was watching someone run around and i didnt know how to convey my emotions and use my face expressions and body language i just felt so lost. so much so that i told her i couldnt attend the class even thought it was the final one just because i was far too scared to perform that commercial due to how ill prepared i was. its the only job i wanna do and i was motivated before but now ever since that class i feel as though ive lost my spark due to being so self-conscious.

PRIVATE COACHING
One extremely effective way to get started is to work with me one-on-one. It’s a great way to be introduced to my technique and if you are hesitant to join a class, we can accomplish so much that will give you confidence to join future sessions. I have a very special price for Reddit students only of $85 for a full hour of private coaching. Message me at u/winniehiller to schedule a time. Whether you have an important audition that you need coaching for or want to fast track your progress in the business (or before you ever join a class), having a full hour of personal one-on-one coaching with detailed instruction & feedback is priceless. Message u/Winniehiller in a chat to set up a time.

did some workshops. Tutors thought i had talent.
signed up to a 20 month course. A few weeks in. whole group are 18-23 except a 30 yr old who is a toxic hater. Totally excluded. Battling on though missed some days. The bully was mocking me which I called out. Decided to leave. Director offered me the lead in a play and asked me to reconsider via email. Not having an income etc is hitting me. Am I crazy to try and pursue this?
I started doing Zoom classes at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. It was a wonderful time for both beginning actors and those who had been ignoring their acting career ambitions. Having free time combined with the possibility of dying from a strange new global disease forced people to take a look at their lives and ask themselves “Is this all there is?” Is there something else I want more.
Lots of new people joined r/actingclass and were really using it. They joined my Patreon so they could post written work and monologues and get my feedback. They took private coaching as well as Zoom classes. They were diligent in their rehearsals with their scene partners. People never missed class—even when they had Covid. I know I didn’t. Acting was a priority.
So I am wondering if the lockdown affected other professions this way and if the world going back to being more normal caused people to forget about the epiphanies they had as they examined where their life was going. It seems that now, the old distractions are taking priority. People are not making the time to explore and pursue those new paths and dreams. So here’s the question. Do you need to be locked down and threatened in order to get focused on what you really want?
I actually discovered wonderful new avenues as an acting coach and teacher during that crazy time. I had taught in-person classes in NYC and Los Angeles for decades as well as seminars all over Europe. But Zoom allowed me to teach students everywhere, all at once, all over the world. And there is something even more personal and intimate as you look into one another’s eyes, face to face, creating a believable performance on camera. And students created close, supportive friendships, even from opposite sides of the planet.
It made me sad to see some of my most promising students drift away and give up acting. It’s funny how people will go back to doing what others want them to do once it seems the crisis is over.
But I am here to tell you that life is still short. Time will pass, and regrets will be painful. Even if you decide that an acting career isn’t practical, if you love it, you need to do it. It’s part of who you are. And you can still do it while you grow, learn and improve every day without even leaving your home.
New class sessions are starting in two weeks. Maybe you drifted away from class. Maybe you were never brave enough to join. You can do it now. You can come back. You don’t need a global catastrophe to do what you love. Those people who have stuck with it for the past 4 years never stopped learning. They have skills they never dreamed of. You can too.
The Zoom classes in r/actingclass started out as an experiment. Though I had been teaching in-person classes for decades both in NYC and Los Angeles, on set and the classroom—I had never taught online until the pandemic hit. But let me tell you…I LOVE IT. I get to work with students all over the world and the venue is amazingly effective, especially in this age of self-tapes and Zoom auditions. It is quite simply the best way to learn on-camera acting if you have the right teacher.
This experiment is constantly morphing into something new and exciting…different than any class you have ever taken. First of all, we are performance oriented. Classes run in 5 and 6 week sessions and the final week is always a Performance Showcase broadcast on Twitch. It gives students the opportunity to work towards a major goal and we use backdrops, costumes, make-up and sound effects. Last session we all joined together to create an original episode of Abbott Elementary. This session the PM class is doing Orange is the New Black and the AM class is doing Once Upon a Time. Who knows what we will try next, but it’s sure to be fun and challenging. We are now in week 3 of our production so be sure to check in and watch in 2 more weeks.
Secondly, I give more guidance and feedback than any other acting class. I never move on until the actor has understood the lesson. I always believe they will.
Intro Class is the one you need to prepare for the Scene Study or to prepare a monologue for auditions. We apply all of my techniques which are a unique but very effective approach.
And you can study with me one-on-one if that is what you prefer. This works well for those who are nervous about joining a group class or live in a difficult time zone. I will be very open and flexible with when I will teach, even if it is early or late.
To see if my method speaks to you, go to the second pinned post and start reading the free Written Lessons and watch my instructional videos on YouTube. Message me for more information. EVERYONE who has taken these classes has taken a giant leap forward. You will too.

I am trying to get into acting and content creating and I need to know some of the better ways to do so as a man, without looking stupid or feeling insecure.
Best ways to get myself out there
Not sure if this is where to ask but I need to create an acting medley, with different pieces that all match thematically. I'm struggling to pinpoint what the main theme of this monologue that would help me find additional pieces for the medley
Hey there. I’m an actress. Studied Meisner technique at a BFA program at Rutgers. Had some film success mostly in my 20’s, and less luck after that. I’m 40 now, have a new baby (totally irrelevant, though something to be said for life experience), and want to take a great on camera acting/audition class in the city. I understand most classes will be full of recent college grads (as I once was one) but does anyone know of classes with more age diversity? For obvious reasons, I likely won’t have too many auditions with 21 year olds unless god forbid, they want me to play their mother. And the real kicker.. any quality classes that won’t break the bank? All suggestions at any price would be highly appreciated.
