I went in for a consultation for my acne scars. The dermatologist recommended 8 sessions of subcision with PRP micro needling at $1,800 per session and 1 session of fractional CO2 laser at $5500 for a total of $19,900 with follow up Chemical peels (I forgot to ask for the price). Is this reasonable pricing? Or am I being scammed? Location is NorCal, US.
Last October, I got four sessions of Pico laser (Cutera Enlighten) at my dermatologist’s office to improve my skin’s quality. I had no issues before—no pigmentation or scarring—just wanted a collagen boost. But during the last session, I felt a sudden, sharp pain in one targeted area. Weeks later, that spot turned red and itchy. I tried treating it like a pimple with salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and pimple patches, but nothing worked.
When I went back, the technician denied it could be from the laser, suggesting it was a coincidence. Later, other dermatologists told me the laser likely overheated and damaged the skin tissue in that spot. I've been using silicone tape for over six months with no improvement.
Would retinol help, or should I consider another laser treatment to reduce scarring? Any recommendations on how to heal this?
I have been dealing with my acne scars of many years and bullied/laughed at for my scars. Tried lasers, chemical peels and microneedling for many years with minimal success. I recently went to a business trip and had some free time on my last day so decided to see a dermatologist and had multiple treatments done in 1 day - subcision, PRP, bio fillers, exosome injection, RF microneedling - 3mm, tca cross - 75% AHA. Face swelled for 5 days, first 2 days my face looked like a balloon. Maybe I overdid it but I didn't want to waste more time to see what works so I did as much as my face allow in 1 day. Took about 4 hours for the whole session. I love the outcome and finally is comfortable with my acne scars. I am done with treatments. I should have done that earlier instead of wasting time and money doing different treatment over the years. Posting pictures of 1 day before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment. I really love how the treatment turned out. Yes I am aware of the different lighting.
I have a mix of ice pick and rolling scars (I think). Mostly ice pick though, just lots of them.
But anyway, that's irrelevant. In my search for treatments, it seems many people have been botched/damaged. RF microneedling - fat loss. Lasers - ruined skin barrier/sensitivity/additional scarring. Subcision - fat loss/change to face shape.
So the lower-risk options seem like regular microneedling or chemical peels - but are they effective?
Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks :)
I recently learned about dermal stamping as a method to reduce the appearance of atrophic scars. However, when I google Derma stamp I found out that it’s also used to promote hair growth.
As an already hairy person I would rather not have more hair. Thus, I was wondering if there’s a distinction between Derma stamps, or is facial hair growth an unavoidable side effect of Derma stamping?
Could you share some procedures that give the best results for this type of scarring?
Btw, I have been using tretinoin for a year to treat my severe acne. Now, my only concerns are scarring and acne marks. I know tretinoin won't completely fade acne scars, but do you think it might improve the appearance of this type of acne scar over time? TIA
I was just prescribed hydrochinon on hyperpigmentation and scars. Doctor said to use it until the area gets red. It gets red right after applying (fourth day from start). Am I supposed to stop now, or when it stays red longer, like through the whole day?
I have read that it takes about a month (my skin is already very irritated from using other acne treatment).
any recommendations appreciated
I've been to 1 dermatologist so far recently, and I felt he was pushing me to go for MNRF. After reading so many posts here I felt subcision and ablative CO2 laser along with fillers would be more helpful for my scars.
I haven't gotten any treatment done so far, but after seeing the success stories here I really want to start my treatment. I want to know if it's the right doctor or the right treatment that will matter the most, getting both the right doctor and the right treatment will be the best outcome which is what I feel.
I got subcision 2 weeks ago and my scars actually look more visible now. Life is hell everyday. It looks like someone went up to my face and shot me 20 + times. Most girls my age look cute but I just look like a monster. Im going to do 1 more subcision this time with filler and 5 lasers but I don’t have much hope I’ll probably always be ugly and gross. Accutane ruined my skin ive been off it for a month
Hi all can anyone recommend an active acne scar group on FB? Can’t to seem any active ones in the US. TIA :)
Mistake #1- I did this at home with 30% TCA. The photo to the left is the before and on the right is where you can see two very dilated atrophic scars. It's only been 8 days, but I'm concerned the affects are irreversible. I've been getting amazing results with TCA peels, but I decided to try the cross method which I'm thinking was a mistake. If I continue with regular peels, would this perhaps go back to the way it was eventually?
I anyone saw the scars on my back from cystic acne you'd be pretty horrified. I'm 60 and I still have some backne. I took one cycle of Accutane when it first came out, but by that time the damage was done. It did help, so much so, that my Dr and I decided not to do a second cycle.
My relative was scouted as a teen model. She had one major pockmark at the center of her forehead and it showed in every single photo. Ugly? no. Obvious, yes. However, the photographer did not bother to photoshop it. It would have been easy to do so. She was too embarrassed to even ask for the reason. It did not detract from the overall cuteness and appeal.
Did you watch the summer olympics? Canadian gold medalist Summer McIntoch also had a rather obvious scar near the center of her forehead - it was not acne scar; it was likely a cut. She could have flattened/improved it through some procedures but she seemingly does not care. She is still a very pretty young lady.
You know Mieko Harada, a renowned Japanese film actress? Google her. Some photos show a big indented scar on her forehead. It had never stopped her from getting big roles and winning major awards, let alone being lauded as one of the top beauties of her generation.
Hey guys! Anyone here planning on visiting Dr Emil? I am considering visiting him in a month or two.
Anyone wanna share their experiences? Over the years my skin has just gotten worse, I am young and don’t wanna live like this lol.
I had bad acne 2.5 years ago and it left me with some mild atrophic scars. The texture of my skin doesn’t bother me but there is some redness exactly where the acne was and it makes my texture look even worse. Will this redness ever fade away? Are there any treatments for this? I’m starting to lose hope cause it’s been a couple years.
Had a consultation with Dr. Rullan's office and they are recommending a phenol cross and erbium yag laser for my forehead despite the fact that I take 10 mg of accutane 2-3 times weekly. Does this seem right?
What do you think about these doctors. They are located in Iran. The results are very impressive and surprisingly they do not have negative opinions from patients that they are scammers, etc. https://www.instagram.com/drsaboktakin?igsh=MTZkMnd6ODd6aTBuOQ==

I had a cluster of shallow icepixk scars that could not be removed by microneedlkng or even tca. They were shallow but as they formed a cluster they looked like a line and became obvious. Recently I applied vitamin c serum containing retinol and my skin flaked a bit. After 2 months the scars are almost all gone. There was a time when I feel anxious about seeing a new derm because of the fear of comments on the scars. Now I would not fear but of course there is less need to see one.
Hello redditors. I am from GTA ( greater toronto area) in Ontario, Canada. I just went to a clinic to get my free consultation to treat my acne scars and see what they can do. I told them about darker spots around my nose and some spots around my right eyes that I want to get right of too. (I think it is hyperpigmentation). Now that I come to think of it, them didn't even mention my dark spots and what they can do about it.
So at the consultation they recommened a HydraFacial to deep clean my pores at $150 + tax CDN plus using this machine called ENDYMED 3DEEP for radio frequency microneedling for $678 CDN per session. They said I need to deep clean my pores so that when they needle my skin, they won't be pushing in dirt into my skin causing more acne in the future. I pulled a " i don't work so my budget is $0 " to them (sales people). I know i will be needing mutiple session of microneedling to see results. They also said it is a good idea to put sunscreen on your face everytime you go out and there is sun.

So what do you all think? What information am I missing? is this reasonable?
