Am currently on 20 mg for what is supposed to be a 6 month Treatment and it feels like taking a Placebo (without the effect). I barely have any side effects except for dry lips and my Back acne has stayed the same. Do i Just need more Patience? Any advice would bei greatly appreciated
I’ve tried everything: doxycycline, Diane 35 birth control, spironolactone. I’m THIS🤏 close to biting the bullet and going on accutane. I’m just worried about underlying issues causing the hormonal acne, or it coming back after finishing the accutane. Any tips? Or experiences? Should I just try it out? Help!!
I’m 17 and last year i started using minoxidil to speed up my facial hair growth, by 4 months ago i had a fairly good beard but i kept a goatee, i started using accutane about 3 months ago and i still am but i decided to grow out my beard instead of the goatee and a week later i barely have any hair on my face, i pulled up pictures from four months ago and it seems like 3 days of growth back then got me double the hair i got in a week now, and im not talking about length i literally have less hair. Is this because of accutane? Keep in mind i never stopped using minoxidil so it cant be because i stopped minoxidil
Just starting month 3. Was on Amnesteem for first 2, picked up new prescription from pharmacy today and it’s the Upsher Smith one now. Still two boxes of 40mg (80mg total), but just wanted to make sure there was no issue with this.
I’ve been on Accutane for a little over 1 month now (30 mg daily for 2 weeks, then 60 mg daily for 3 weeks). I got labs today and my cholesterol was noted to be “high” and increased from my baseline. My derm said it was elevated but nothing that particularly “concerned him.” I trust his opinion obviously but it still makes me worry. My liver enzymes were completely normal. Anyone else experience this too? I am NOT asking for medical advice, I’m following my dermatologist’s instructions. I am more so looking for comfort😅
hi im a teenager (f) and kind of underweight. i was prescribed 40mg a day. i heard that some side effects include hair loss and poor vision. is it really that common?? i’m really scared for my hair to thin since it is quite thick, and i don’t want to wear glasses :(
my derm told me that i shouldn’t be worried since apparently its really really rare
Just wondering if anyone stayed on Accutane for just a few months and had success in long-term skin clearing?
I know reaching a cumulative dose decreases chances of acne coming back, but some studies say this isn't always the case.
I'm not having a great time on this drug and debating ending my course early, so I'm interested in hearing if anyone has had long term acne remission after just a short Accutane course. Or, if anyone had it come back and how long it took for that to happen.
For context, I'm ~60kg and 3 months in (30/60/60). Mild/moderate acne, haven't really had a breakout in the last month or so.
I went on accutane over a year ago and just a few days ago I noticed my skin has been hurting a little and that’s usually when I break out. I haven’t broken out since accutane, but now all of a sudden I’m getting those white spots (think they’re called pustules) it was my first time on accutane and before id suffered with acne since I was around 19. I am now twenty five and my hormones are everywhere. I have prolonged periods and I know somehow the hormonal imbalance is causing my acne. Idk how to deal with it and I just feel quite upset. It took me a long time to get accutane because waiting time and referral(uk:/) I think I may need a second round and this time do a full six month course. my doc thought bcos it cleared my acne so fast that it was best to take me off it after the fourth month.
I have read that it can be common for acne to come back but how is it like for those of you who have acne due to hormonal imbalance? If you ahve taken a second round, how was it like ?
I have 1 or 2 cystic acne but have massive problem with white heads all over my face. Mostly because of my large pores and sebum produce like crazy. I proactively talk to my doctor to start me on accutane. She gave me 10mg iso per đây for 1 month.
After 1 week, I can already see slight purging and faster white heads drying speed. However, I have redo this journey multiple of times. Doctors always put me off accutane after a month when they see that my skin is clear. Why don't they comply with the minimum dosage rule?
just wanted to vent a little.
Picked my skin today and created a wound that'll last until the weekened, which is when i'm going to the beach with a few friends.
Although i think that there are certain pimples that should actually be popped, we can identify those who aren't ready yet.
Maybe being thoughtful when looking at the mirror will make me have better results, questioning if it is the right decision to actually pop it.
extremely disappointed at myself rn, because my skin was ok before i did that. Now i'll have to go to the trip with a big wound in my forehead.
it is what it is i guess
I've tried so many different lip products since I started this medication in July. Keep in mind everyone is different and everyone is going to respond differently to different products. One thing I've noticed is alternating products helps. Like maybe my lips get too used to or immune to a product if Im using it all the time. During the day I'm using 4 different products (first 4 on my list below) and I haven't had cracked, peeling, dry lips for the past month or so. yay! What are your favorite products?
Vaseline - Affordable and works great. Use it as a mask at night or as a balm during the day 10/10
Glowiest Sweet Dreams Lip Mask- Bought in a 3-pack at Costco for $14.99. It's thicker than Vaseline and leaves my lips much more moisturised. I've only been using it for the past two weeks but I love it. I've been using vaseline when I don't feel like using Rhode but this is my #1 lip mask for now. 10/10
Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment / Lip Tint- Pricey. Can only be ordered online. I hate that I love it. It works so well for me. Not sticky at all. They have a scent free option. I haven't had any cracking or peeling since I started using this. 100/10
Ole Henriksen Pout Preserve Hydrating Peptide Lip Treatment- Very thick and sticky but it keeps my lips from peeling. 8/10
Vitamasques Lip Butter Balm- a $5 dupe for more pricey peptide treatments mentioned above. It has hylauronic complex and peptides which my lips seem to like. I haven't used it much since I bought it only to compare to the other products but it seems pretty solid. 9/10
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Lip Balm - Worthless. Didi not like the small or the texture. Saw no improvements 0/10
Jack Black Intense Therapy w/SPF- It has SPF so I used it during the summer. It did not combat the extreme dryness but maybe it protected my lips from the sun. Maybe. 4/10
The Ordinary Squalane + Amino Acids Hydrating Balm- Affordable but didn't help. 0/10
Lanolips & Generic Pure lanoline from Amazon- These worked so well for me for the first month until my lips just got too dry/peeling. They don't do anything for me now. 3/10
Blistex Lip-Medex (blue pot) - Solid product. Affordable. Didn't keep my lips from peeling but it does help. Just not a stand alone product. 7/10
Aquaphor- Unpopular opinion but this did not help me at all. 1/10
Aquaphor Lip Repair - 1/10
Aquaphor Lip Repair Stick (with & without SPF) - Crap 0/10
O'Keefe's Lip Repair Balm- Affordable. Works for regular chapped lips but not strong enough for accutane. 2/10
Weleda Skin Food Lip Balm- Don't like the scent or texture. Didn't notice that it helped but also only tried it a couple times because of the texture. 0/10
Has anyone stopped accutane at month 2? My doctor has ordered me to stop for 1-2 months due to complications and they want to see if accutane is the cause of it but I’ve only been on accutane for 2 months. I’m sure my severe cystic acne will come back, but how long can I expect it to hit again? I’m so scared and nervous about this, my skin is damn near clear right now and I hate the idea of all this hard work being ruined because I have to stop momentarily. please someone help.
People keep asking if I got lip filler. My lips feel fuller and I’m not sure if it’s because they are dry and I’m licking them more. Anyone else?
I’ve been using amnesteem 40mg ever since i started accutane about 3 months ago, early November i started using the original isotretinion since the amnesteem was out of stock and i was missing a week worth of dosage. Had terrible side effects and it felt like it was making my acne worse. I got the amnesteem refilled early like about a week ago (during thanksgiving week). I left my amnesteem in my sister’s car which is an hour away, so do i continue to take the original isotretinion until i can get my amnesteem back? (I’m not gonna bother contacting ipledge or my dermatologist for a refill again since i literally just got it refilled).
I suffer with a lot of blackheads all over my checks and forehead with closed comodones all over my face (the tiny bumps that appear on the skin). And several red pimples that come and go, leaving acne scars and red marks. Should I go on accutane for this reason or not?
I have a stomach bug and am throwing up everything I eat. Is it okay to skip one day of a 50mg dose? Tried calling my dermatologist but no answer
Any suggestions for dealing with dandruff while on Accutane? I’m in week two and have noticed a significant increase in dandruff. I have had general irritation and several bouts where my scalp gets super itchy. I don’t want to make the problem worse by overwashing with anti-dandruff shampoo, but I also want to avoid hair looking too oily, which has happened when I've used conditioner on nonshampooing nights to try and add moisture.
Hey all,
I love dairy, but I know its a big acne causer. Im starting accutane next week and wondered if people were able to eat dairy and other “acne causing” foods during / after accutane without it making their acne worse?
currently on month 8 of accutane and this is supposed to be my last month. i’ve had joint pain and dryness all through out it but it feels like within a week it’s gotten so much worse. my lips are so cracked and i’ve been getting weird bumps on them and my joints are really bad as well. did anyone else seem fine until the very end? if so do you have any advice? i am already taking an omega three fatty and fish oil but i dont feel like its doing anything
i'm a beauty girlie who works in luxury makeup and good god is vanicream unsexy. i won't deny the efficacy and versatility of the classics, but i personally have trouble keeping up with a skincare routine that i find dull. even now that i'm nursing accutane side effects, i still crave the pleasure i get from shopping and discovery / curating a regimen / using formulas that are more cosmetically elegant—and you just don't get all that with cerave.
i tried following my derm's recommended routine for the first few months, but the FOMO got to me so i've cautiously expanded to seek out other gentle and deeply nourishing skincare products from brands that i like. i'm aware this is not the cheapest nor most efficient route to moisturization but i'm in it for the love of the game 😂
for context, i am over 250lb and on 120mg/daily. i spent 4 months ramping up to this dosage and now i'm on month 7. i had relatively mild but very persistent acne that has largely cleared up, with most exceptions being hormonal. i'd describe my skin as being very sensitive and extremely dry compared to the average person, but probably pretty typical for high-dosage accutane users.

So December 7th will be my one month mark of being on Accutane, and my appointment is on the 9th. Since it’s still in my blood stream, going two days without taking it should be fine right?
