Hello all! I’ve always been interested in camping but have literally no knowledge or experience. I’m turning 31 next week and want to take. A solo camping trip somewhere in AZ that has beautiful views where I can just kind of be alone. Is there anywhere you guys would recommend? Anything I should know as a first timer? Any responses are greatly appreciated thank you !
I wanna go camping this weekend at this site near woods canyon lake called Fr 9350 campground (according to the national forest service website), but it says it’s inaccessible until April. A lot of the sites up there near the lake on the National Parks website say the same thing, but I don’t fully believe it because other sites around there are open. Anyone notice anything? Thanks! (Edit) do I really need a reservation? Or would it be fine checking it out, I don’t image it being very busy and it’s a large area

I'm thinking of heading down to southern Arizona in January for a couple months to escape the cold and to focus on "me" :) I want to be active, workout, loose a few pounds and figure out the meaning of life.. ya know that kinda shit.
Thinking of traveling in and so I'm looking for ideas or suggestions on good places to go. I'd be glad to get a personal trainer and/or a dietitian/nutritionist if someone was available.
I've spent the last few years taking care of my parents, but they're now gone and they left me with a big ass 5th wheel travel trailer along with the ability to take some time to refocus and figure out what I want to be when i grow up.
I figured I'd post here first and then start googling.
Thanks in advance for any insight you might have!
If you had 2 or 3 nights to visit different parks, one being the Grand Canyon, where else would you go? Are there any specific activities you recommend? Stargazing, river rafting, etc.
My family and I are flying into Phoenix in late March to catch some spring training baseball. My wife wants to book day tours and come back to the hotel. I feel like we could get a more saturated experience if we rented an RV and took the tour ourselves. We have two kids who will be 9 and 7 at the time. They like hiking for up to about 2 hours at a stretch. Any recommendations are appreciated.
Ok this post is for lifestyle peeps, or couples involved in ENM or open relationships. We’ve been toying with an idea and would love to get your thoughts on it. Here’s the concept:
Starting a camping and adventure group for ENM couples in the Western United States who love blending outdoor thrills with deeper connections. Think side-by-side (SXS) riding in the dunes, wake-surfing on the lake, hiking canyons, or even skydiving during the day—followed by campfires, good vibes, and flirty fun in the evenings at camp over a few nights on a weekend.
Our thought is to organize loosely planned trips. These would be casual getaways for like-minded couples, offering plenty of room to relax, flirt, and explore the outdoors with a some adventure and connection. Trips could range from the dunes at Glamis or the Oregon Coast to Lake Shasta or Lake Powell, Pismo Beach, Parker desert riding or Pirates Cove and Sand Hollow and even unique outings like kayaking, rafting, or group hikes. We thought about keeping these to non-holiday weekends so that we are all still free to do family trips on those weekends. Mostly discreet, just like-minded adults getting together.
I’d love your input:
Let us know your thoughts! We have a few ideas and several couples interested just curious how it might work out thanks for the thoughts on this.
Make sure to keep things vanilla for this group please, and really not trying to offend anyone.
My girlfriend and her family have been going to hawley lake for many years but since they've been shut down what is a good alternative with cabins and a lake for fishing comparable to hawley lake?
Looking for a camping site, public or private in Northern AZ that can hold 150 people for a family reunion type gathering. (Don't worry, I'm looking waaaay in advance.) Preferably fairly close to Sedona. Needs to have some cabins and lots of spots for tents. Bonus if there's a gathering hall.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!
I'm a seasoned backpacker but my spouse grew up with a travel trailer in another state, and is not a camper otherwise. I want to rent one but I don't understand where to take it. I'd rather not be slotted next to a bunch of other people, and I need a creek and trees. Let me know how to do this, or even just good resources online, etc. We're in the East valley. I feel dumb, like "duh, how do you actually camp with this thing.". Thank you!
Looking to backpack to Douglas Spring Camp in Saguaro NP during the last week of November. What should I expect for temps and weather? Especially the low at night. Trying to plan my gear accordingly. If anyone has additional recs too for Saguaro NP backpacking and resources, please do share!!
Hi all!
I’m planning on camping sometime this month (Oct), preferably a dispersed campsite area but I’m open to semi-developed campsites.
I don’t have a high-clearance 4WD vehicle, so I probably won’t have a lot of choices. But any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Hi everyone. My husband’s cousin has gone missing on a rock hounding trip near Davis Dam, Laughlin NV. Please share the post below if you know anything or live in the area. He has not been heard from for 17 days. TIA
I'm looking to camp near tonto natural bridge and don't see any sites near by that take reservations. Most I see are first come first serve. Anyone have any recommendations on ones that I'd have best luck on a Friday-sat(possibly) sunday?
Hi everyone! I recently moved to Tempe, and I'm looking for a place to go tent camping with my dogs so we can escape the heat. I drive a sedan, so I also need a location that would be accessible (easy to drive on roads, no 4-wheel drive). Bonus points if there are good views or some dog-friendly hiking trails nearby! I would prefer something within a 3 hour drive, but am willing to venture farther for a good location.
Looking for a spot in the woods in flagstaff for next weekend. Preferably out of the city and away from people but we also want to explore flagstaff. Anybody have any ideas and where we should go to explore flagstaff?
I was looking for recommendations to take my family tent camping in early November. Ideally within about 45 minutes of Tucson. Views are a plus, but happy to find any good camping spots. TIA for recommendations!
Has anyone heard of renting solar power stations or starlink gear?
I had wondered about renting to try it out, but I suddenly own 2 power stations. I need to sell one or maybe rent it out to cover the cost. Just wondering what you all think? TIA.
EDIT: for clarification
I had thought about renting to try out solar power when offgrid. I decided I would just buy one.
I bought a bluetti, and then also bought an ecoflow package on sale a couple days later. I just figured I could return the one that I liked less. Now I realize I have to pay shipping to return either. I'd like to either sell or rent out one in order to recover the expense.
Hi, I never really camped before but wanted to try it out next week. I heard Woods Canyon Lake was nice and Aspen Campgrounds was really close by. Seems like the campground itself is very popular too. I noticed that most camp sites are first come first serve and the check in time is at 2 pm according to recreation.gov. Does that mean I won't be able to wake up early in the morning and get there to find myself a camp spot?
Thanks for your help in advance 😊
Edit: To anyone curious, I went to the campground around 7:30 AM on a Saturday just to learn that the campground and nearby campgrounds like the Mogollon Campground to be full. I went to Fr 9350 campground instead which was dispersed campground and it was amazing. Honestly I think I preferred the spread out setup of the campground. Unforthnately it only had one bathroom at the far entrance, so make sure you have a porta potty.
Looking to camp over July 4th, hoping to get a suggestion of somewhere I can have a fire. Less than 7 hours drive from Phoenix. Colorado, Utah, idc I just want a fire. Teardrop camper size.
Hey everyone.
I'm new to both Arizona and the community so thanks for having me. :)
Looking for a spot to go camping for my birthday this year (week of June 21st). Here's some things that I felt would be helpful with thinking of a suitable location:
North of Phoenix (6 hr max) Group of four 4x4 pickup truck (2012 Colorado) Willing to do some off roading Looking for somewhere to camp next to the truck Star gazing Near a body of water 2 night stay
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Anyone know of restrictions for dispersed camping around woods canyon lake? I’d like to load up the kayaks and do some minimalist camping on the north side of the lake with my son. I’ve camped along FR300 a bunch, but it was years ago, and for some reason I remember restrictions about dispersed camping near the lake, but I can’t seem to find anything now. Would appreciate any help.
My husband and I will be visiting Phoenix for an event on the Saturday of memorial day weekend. We're staying in Phoenix that night, and want to spend Sunday night camping if we can. We currently have a hotel booked in Sedona but I'm realizing it'll be a madhouse during the holiday weekend and I'd rather camp instead.
Looking for recommendations for a forested area to camp near Phoenix. Ideally something with pretty trees and lots of shade. I'd prefer an established campground that allows advanced booking, if that exists. 1-3 hours from Phoenix is fine, including the Flagstaff area.
I'm aware it's probably too late but I figured I'd ask anyway!
I’m looking for recs of a place to camp that has a lake or some type of swimming where I can use my new paddle board! I don’t mind driving to the lake area if the camping is close by but bonus points if there is a camp ground walking distance! I’d prefer a reservation and not first come first serve . TIA
Hi, I'm thinking of camping at any of the Mogollon Rim area campgrounds near Woods Canyon lake in May.
It looks there are many to choose from: Aspen, Mogollon, Spillway, Crook, Rim Campground, and Sinkhole campground. However all of these appear to be first come first serve on recreation.gov
Anyone know if these are competitive/hard to get on a weekend in May? I'd be going up either Friday morning or evening.
I just moved to Tucson recently for work and am looking for a camping spot with the bare amenities like water or a bathroom nearby not a major need. I'm also brining along a couple friends who haven't done much camping ever just trying to get out of the main city for a weekend enjoy some nature.
Greetings fellow campers. I’m curious about a high elevation campsite in the trees for rim-overlook-hammocking with a fire pit on the Mogollan Rim, AZ but….the kicker is, 2WD accessible. Is this at all possible?
TIA!
Hi, new to camping so bear with me but can you really just setup anywhere in dispersed camping in AZ? How do I find this dispersed camping? Any areas to avoid since I have kids? Thank you in advance!
Camping at Roosevelt Lake this weekend. Anything to do around the lake besides boating or the Tonto National Monument?
