ASUS M3500Q Noise

I know it isn’t the fans since I’ve opened it up and cleaned them yet the noise is still there. The noise seems to start when the laptop is put under stress, like running a game or too many tabs in a browser. Can anyone help me diagnose what is making this noise/how I can go about fixing it.

Does anyone have a guide for setting VPN Fusion with wireguard?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a free, set-and-forget, split tunnelling VPN solution, so my devices have permanent access to my home network while all other traffic is routed as normal. I'm under the impression that cannot be achieved with the normal 'VPN Server' function (If anyone has done this, please share your config!) so now i'm trying to do it with the 'VPN Fusion' function.

However, most guides for this are focused on a third party VPN service that provides you with a config file. The ASUS guide is not much of a guide.

Any advice? I have a Zenwifi XD6S.

Thanks for you time

Unable to install windows 11 on ROG MAXIMUS Z890 APEX

Hi,

I have ROG MAXIMUS Z890 APEX motherboard. I installed 2 Samsung Pro SSD to DIMM 2 slot.

I see both m2 nvm devices under vme devices section in BIOS.

But, when I boot from Windows 11 installation USB, it does not able to find devices.

I have downloaded a lot of drivers from multiple places. As well as from motherboard official page.

I have upgraded bios to the latest version.

But nothing helps. The installer says "error installing driver" etc.

Please help.

Thank you.

Motherboard doesn't detect RGB headers

PRIME B650M-A AX II Been using the RGB/Fan hub that came with my case. But I'm swapping to a case without the hub. Already disabled Asus Aura in BIOS. Tried Signal RGB and Armory Crate. It does not detect the RGB in the Add headers. They will work with the RGB/Fan hub when I hold down the reset button and are controllable in both software that way.

Anyone have a solution for this? Would rather not keep the RGB/Fan controller since it makes cable management messy when I get my new case.

How to get my portable USB C monitor to work on ASUS x560ud USB 3.1 port

I have an ASUS x560ud laptop, which has three black USB ports. According to the manual the USB port on the left side next to the HDMI is USB 3.1, the other two are USB 2.0. This is confusing, as I thought USB 3.1 would be blue in color. Anyhow, I looked in device manager and can see that the "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)" is "working properly"

I thought USB A 3.1 was "Alternate mode" compatible, but I am unsure if the ASUS x560ud can actually do it with one cable, or if it is just a driver/windows 11 problem? So far the portable screen has power, but no signal from the USB cable provided by the monitor manufacturer - which is a USB A to USB C conversion.

Any suggestions welcome

Need help with asus motherboard bios setup

Just built a new PC with a 9800x3d 5080 fe and a rog strix b650e-i motherboard. I installed two m.2 storages with one being the old one from my last pc. On first boot of my new pc I am getting a screen that is telling me to “enter setup to recover bios setting. When raid configuration was built, ensure to set sata configuration to RAID mode. Press F1 to run setup.” When I press f1 or any other potential keys here nothing happens. Any ideas on what I can do next to set up bios and my pc? Would rather avoid having to get a usb stick to flash.

ASUS ROG Crossfire X870E Hero - odd NVMe issues

So I just fully rebuild my PC after a long fight with an aging 5800X reboot issue. I went with the Crossfire Hero initially because it advertised that it had 5x NVMe slots, 3x at Gen5. I am a bit of a data packrat and I have a lot of 3D assets for both digital art and learning/playing in Unreal, so wanted a lot of overhead for storage and fast access for projects.

I initially loaded my system with a single NVMe Gen 5 for OS install and load testing, all of which went without issues. After stress testing I started to load up my drives. Because I did not closely read the manual, I missed the fact that M2_2 and M2_3 share a lane with the PCIe_1 slot. My bad but I was excited and erroneously expected that an advertised 5x NVMe would in fact be that.

My initial load:

M2_1: 2TB Gen5 Crucial T700 OS Drive

M2_2: 4TB Gen4 Samsung 990 (A)

M2_3: 4TB Gen4 Samsung 990 (B)

M2_4: 1TB Storage from old OS

M2_5: 1TB old system OS drive (I formatted it after booting)

I also have 4x SSD's in the Sata slots, of various ages and configurations (pack rat).

Initially, everything was working very well, I tested stability and started to install programs. While doing so I loaded up the Disk Management and there I noticed only one of the 990's was appearing (Samsung 990 (A)). I formatted it, then once I was done with patching and installing, booted to BIOS to see what was wrong. The disk was appearing there but when booting to Windows it just would not appear. All other drives, including the SATA spun up without issue.

I reseated the missing M2 drive and upgraded the BIOS to see if it was a BIOS issue. After upgrading and a reboot it suddenly was present in Windows. Formatting and loading files onto it (drive (B)) worked without issue. I used it most of the day without issue, although after a late patch last night for Windows, it once more disappeared.

I slept on it, then checked the manual today only to discover that the M2_3 and M2_3 share a lane with PCIe_1, which has my GPU in it. If I read the manual correctly, putting a drive in M2_2 is fine, but a drive in M2_3 throttles the GPU to 8X. Guessing that this was the culprit, and wanting the most out of my GPU, once I got home I disassembled everything again and shuffled a few drives around:

M2_1: 2TB Gen5 Crucial T700 OS Drive

M2_2: 4TB Gen4 Samsung 990 (B) - this has my Unreal projects on it, so I want the Gen 4 speed

M2_3: - Empty

M2_4: 1TB Storage from old OS

M2_5: 4TB Gen4 Samsung 990 (A)

Now however, BIOS and Windows cannot see Samsung 990 (A). It is unlikely to be a drive issue as (A) worked all along. (B) is now appearing and working fine even after a few reboots.

I don't believe it is a power issue; part picker with all my loaded components is showing load at ~750W and I have a newer gen 1000W PSU. The system is otherwise stable and doesn't seem to have any other issues even with an extreme OCCT stress test.

I am in the process of moving all files off my old Storage NVMe in the hopes that putting the 4TB Samsung in M2_4 with nothing else in that lane will correct the visibility issue. It is a troubling problem though as I can't see from the manual anything that would indicate a Gen4 drive would not work in slot 4 or 5. All I can see is that those share a lane with the PCIe_2, which I have no intention of using.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Update: Extensive swapping and testing has shown that my Gen4 Samsung 990 (A) is not appearing at all. It may be dead, although I have no idea what would have happened. It was healthy this morning when I left for work, and the PC was idle all day. I'll see if I can get it to appear with an external drive but my hopes are slim. I just bought it, so an RMA isn't out of the question, I would just like to understand how it could have died while idle.

Update #2: Spoke too soon. My other Samsung 990 is now not appearing in Windows. It is visible in BIOS, just not there in Windows.

Update #3: I feel like this board is gaslighting me. I pulled all NVMe except for the OS drive, then put only the Samsungs in, one at a time, and only in the M2_4 slot. Both drives are good, but still doesn't explain the odd working/not-working fiasco. I am not putting any drives in M2_2 or M2_3 for now, and my UE project folder is present. Planning to back up critical projects there and leave the other M2 for now. I have to re-download 1 TB of assets again, but it isn't the end of the world. If anyone has any advice, please comment. This is an expensive board to just leave M2 slots empty, but I don't want to risk literal months of work for an unreliable drive manager.

Some pertinent points: CPU: 9950X; GPU: RTX4070 Ti Super OC. The M2_4 and _5 slots are likely safer homes anyway, as they are not directly under the GPU, but until I can figure out why M2_5 isn't apparently showing a drive, I'm not taking it apart again.

ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A Turns Black then Back on Randomly

Does anyone else have the issue of their ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A turning off randomly while plugged in or at least the screen turning black then back on? How do you fix it? I just bought a new power cord bc the old one died, and that did not fix the issue.

Asus Vivobook 15/16 OLED Audio Issues

Hi everyone. Wondering if anybody else has had audio issues like mine. Every once in a while (at least once a day) my computer will just stop using audio. Doesn't matter if I'm using the computer's speaker, wired headphones, or bluetooth headphones. It just won't play audio from any application.

I've tried everything to troubleshoot and my computer can't find anything wrong with itself. Every setting I've looked at seems like the audio should be playing fine. The only thing that fixes it is to restart my laptop a few times until it works again, but I'm getting really tired of having to restart constantly.

Thanks for the help!

Problem with ROG Phone 5 (System-UI and Bluetooth Connection)

I've recently got the Rog Phone 5 as a gift from my brother, but there seems to be some problems.

Seemingly at random times, the phone shows a pop-up displaying "System-UI isn't responding." When I choose to dismiss this message, the phone works fine, but the pop-up repeats until I "Close the Application" and then everything works. It's not a real problem but annoying to get the pop-up.

Secondly, Bluetooth. When I listen to music or any sound, nothing happens, but as soon as I pause music it takes maybe 30-60 seconds before my Headphones disconnect (I am using Crusher ANC 2 with the accompanied Skull-IQ in case that has to do with anything). Then, I turn off Bluetooth in the Notifications bar, but holding on Bluetooth and accessing the actual Interface, it's still turned on, and I have to turn it off in the App to restart the Connection. Seems as if the Notification Bar UI isn't properly responding/interacting with the actual Bluetooth App?

Phone is up to date, and a new installation of everything as well. Do I just factory reset or are there maybe any fixes for anything?

Appreciate all the help I can get!!

How do I check status/specs on my older monitor?

Windows display settings indicates my monitor is ASUS VE248 (no suffix letters).

I got this over ten years ago, but I can’t find the info on it. What panel type? Response time? Etc.

Maybe my Zenbook is just getting old?

I bought my ASUS Zenbook 14 in 2020-2021. I really like it, other laptops seem gigantic in comparison now, and I've only had a small handful of issues, a slightly cracked screen, a little graphical quirk that only happens occasionally, some recent drama with a silica bead in the audio jack...

But something that has reared it's ugly head is an issue with crashing. I'd say probably for a couple years it would *very occasionally* crash, usually just while sitting, going to this exact BSOD I've linked. The 0% progress indicator has never once increased from zero, so I've always just turned off my computer and then powered it back up. This happened so infrequently that I couldn't even name a time that it happened when doing something actually important, though there were some close calls. Speaking of *calls,* that's when I'm worried about it the most, during voice calls.

It recently started crashing more often, doing so twice in the same 24hour period recently, which inspired this post.

I'm wondering if there's a common fix, or if it is just time for an upgrade. Like I said, there is some physical wear and tear. What's the consensus on these kinds of problems, are they fixable, do I take it to be repaired, or it more worth it to just get newer one? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks
