Hi! You read the title, I just want to ask some students what my chances of getting in are.
I'm an Asian American AMAB person from a very small town.
I'm a founding member of my school's Beta Club, having qualified for state both times in the two years since I've helped found it. I'm the secretary in my school's Drama Club , I've been in my school's band program for five years (though I never went on to All-Region.)
I have a 3.8 GPA (probably 3.7 by the end of this semester), and I haven't taken the ACT yet (I will in February).
I've also attended Summer@ASMSA, a Preview Day, a Shadow Stay, where I interacted with many faculty, as well as students. Including Mr. Hudnell (who, due to technical issues, I've happened to develop a steady line of communication with). I also wrote a, quite frankly, riveting essay, that I'm very proud of.
I'm incredibly worried about not being able to get in, because, despite it having been a dream of mine for years, having been on-campus and spoken with students, I'm a bit terrified that my future ACT score may be too low, or that my good qualities will be outshine by better applicants, or that my small number of community services hours may effect my chances of getting in. I'd just like to hear some tips from current students! What are my chances of being accepted?
Trying to get into ASMSA for the 25-26 school year as an early entrance student. I just took the ACT today and I'm kinda worried that I bombed it. Other than there just being the requirement for application, will my ACT score be the main characteristic they look for or will the other factors balance it out (supposing I make the bare minimum for early entrance)
I'm a student and quizbowl player for a small school in Arkansas with a 4.0 GPA. I'm going into my sophomore year of HS and plan to complete it at my current school before applying to ASMSA and attending in my junior and senior years of high school. I scored a 31 on my ACT after my freshman year of high school & am one of the premier Arkansas quizbowlers in the class of 2027, having won the Junior High (grades 7-9) All-Stars tournament in 2024. I am also taking the Univ of Alabama Early College classes during the opening month or so of the 2024-25 school year. I plan to enter a career in biomedical engineering or journalism, depending on how high school goes, and am seriously eyeing Johns Hopkins University for my college education.
Any advice from students or alumni?
Hey I applied to asmsa and qualified for semi-finalist. Can anyone give me any advice to do good on the interview and whatever I have to get through after this step or at least tell how was your experience
Like for example if you make it to the semifinal, did or would they ever tell you, you didn’t make it in??
Because I’m thinking by that point in time they would just accept everyone who made it into the semifinals? But that probably couldn’t be the case?
(I have no clue if people are still active here 😭..)
Hey yall that are successful in their lives, what kind of colleges did you guys go to and which should I choose? (I want to become a lawyer and a writer)
I made the subreddit back in 2011-2012 when I was a junior at ASMSA. I’m pretty sure it was created using my old account. Never really did anything with it. I didn’t even go to ASMSA my senior year. I passed it off to another student I think maybe year or two later?
It’s wild to see that there are still people occasionally posting here. It’s also wild to see that the rules in the sidebar haven’t changed!
I hope all of you are doing well!
Today is commencement day for ASMSA’s Class of 2021. The event will be live-streamed on ASMSA’s Facebook page
Best of wishes to you all.
It needs to be more h*cking specific
Until five minutes ago I didn't know it existed, but now I care heavily about this.
Remember, when posting to r/ASMSA, try to include a post flair. This is so user can easily navigate through specific posts. Currently we have a “Make Your Own” flair available in gray. However, if anyone is interested in us adding a flair such us: “Announcement” to everyone, please comment or send a message to the Modmail system.
User flairs: User flairs are not required on this subreddit, however if wanted, we currently have a few options available: Class of 2023 Class of 2024 Class of 2022 Class of 2021 Class of 2020
We are working to get more Class of ____ added. However due to the holidays, this might take longer. There is also a “Make your own” flair if you are interested. Flairs can be anything as long as they fit into the subreddit and DON’T break our rules
Hi y'all. I really don't know who's all still alive here, but in the spirit at least a few of you grads(and possibly students) are still here, I wanted to try something!
First name or nickname(if comfortable), year graduated(or to graduate), and maybe some goofy, crazy, whacky stories of your time at ASMSA, with teachers or staff, or maybe just how you felt about ASMSA in general! If there are any incoming students, maybe they can tell us their questions or concerns idk :)
If someone starts off, I'll jump on the bandwagon too -
I was just a few minutes ago accepted into Asmsa and I would like to know what to expect going into the next school year
Greetings from the class of 2020. Is anyone even on here anymore?
Hello, this is your new 2015-2016 SGA President Rex. I was hoping we might be able to re-energize this sub for the future.
FIRM comes soon.
I know you're here Joseph.
I feel like this place needs to be repopulated, we have quite a few redditors in our class.
Hey everyone, I just found this subreddit and I wanted to let everyone know that if you are going to U of A Fayetteville, you should definitely join the FB group that's just been made. If you aren't a Razorback, then oh well... We're all still Dolphins for life anyways!
BEST Robotics placed 1st overall at the competition yesterday! They also placed first for the "Best Robot"! Be sure to congratulate the members if you see them!
Hello fell ASMSA-ains! I just want to set up a few minor "rules" for this subreddit. (They're not really rules, since most of them are common sense)
Thanks for reading guys! Remember, we are still representing the school, so for the love of all that righteous and good in this world, don't do anything stupid.
