A subreddit for everything concerning the AMC Eagle, a compact-sized four-wheel drive passenger vehicle that was produced by American Motors Corporation (AMC).
A testing ground for Jeep technologies, most AMC Eagles featured the notoriously sturdy 258 i6, and familiar drivetrain components such as the New Process transfer cases and Dana 30 and 35 axles.
The AMC Eagle is a compact-sized four-wheel drive passenger vehicle that was produced by American Motors Corporation (AMC). The AMC Eagle line of vehicles inaugurated a new product category of "sport-utility" or crossover SUV.
Introduced in August 1979 for the 1980 model year, the coupe, sedan, and station wagon body styles were based on the AMC Concord.
The AMC Eagles were the only four-wheel-drive passenger cars produced in the U.S. They were affordable cars offering a comfortable ride and handling on pavement together with superior traction in light off road use through AMC's innovative engineering and packaging.

im only 14 so i cant drive yet, but when im able to buy my own car i want it to be one that i like. i was going somewhere today and my mom and i passed by this really cool car and i found out its an amc eagle. i think they're really cool and i want to do more research and stuff but i don't know where to start so does anyone know where i should look to learn more about that car
Need to know what this bar actually does and how necessary it is. Put an ax15 in my eagle and need to figure out if I have to fab up an attachment for this thing. It connects to the transmission, bell housing, and front axle.
Ps. Sorry I haven't done the swap writ up yet, finalizing a few things and changing some things I didn't like after I was done.
1983 AMC Eagle 75,000 miles on ebay auction @2000 right now. Not my vehicle.
Finally got all my clutch problems sorted out only to find my transmission is bad. Reverse is gone and the rest of the gears got chewed up, presumably by the remains of Reverse floating around in the transmission. Fortunately I got a line on an ax15 with everything to make it work so I will be swapping that in. I'll post updates as I go and a full write up on the swap when I'm done. Plenty of people have done this with cjs but I haven't found much as far as the eagles go. Any advice is appreciated, wish me luck.
Does anyone have a diagram to hook this up?
Been looking for an eagle in the right spec and price for years and finally found one that fits the bill. Will be downsizing the fleet as I get this fixed up and ready for daily duty. Any advice is appreciated, as are any thoughts or comments. This is a 1982 with manual transmission with is the feature I was so picky about.
trading my Altima (in background) for this here Eagle, seems like pretty big step up, but I'm gonna miss it to an extent, that Altima was pushing out 250hp, so it was pretty fun.
The eagle needs some work (new door handles, carbs tuned, wheels rub on fenders) but Its a fun car.
Found a manual 6cyl 81 SX4 for sale for a decent price. I’ve always loved these cars and have been wanting to get something to learn to fix up. I’m new to working on cars other than pretty basic maintenance. This particular one hasn’t run for at least a year, but apparently everything was fine until the alternator and clutch master cylinder went out. No serious rust on the frame, and apparently transmission and engine are ok. I don’t have a garage or a ton of know how, just the internet and a will to learn. How difficult will these repairs be? I’ve seen some folks do them online and of course they make it look pretty easy. What do y’all think? Should i do it?

Going to look a local listing of an 83 SX4, any particular issues or problems that frequently occur with these i should look for?
Been looking for one for a few months now and each time i barely miss out on getting one. My price range is 5k for a running one thanks
So I am in a pickle. When I tore my engine down, I organized the fasteners. Put them in baggies and labeled them. I also organized the valvetrain components in the order I removed them.
I have a house guest who does not respect boundaries, moved everything off of my work bench so he could sit at it. He put the stuff to the side and everything got dumped into the floor and lost. I've found a good number of the fasteners but I'm still missing a few. Yes I was pissed, but I couldn't do anything about him. He maintains it was my fault it happened.
I need help with figuring out the last few fasteners.
