After 20 Years on my Bucket List I am finally going to Petit Le Mans and would appreciate any advice from event veterans on things to do and places to be to best enjoy the race.
#TeamCorvette
I have some free time Saturday and only live about 2 hours from Sebring. A buddy of mine and I were thinking about going out, but as we won't be able to stay the entire race time don't think we will purchase tickets. My question is, is there other outings/happenings that makes the drive worth it if we don't plan on watching the race itself? I know this is a bit of a off topic question and I apologize if it's not allowed here, just looking for some quick advice!
I have here for you guys the Full Daytona24h in 720p without commercial breaks + Podium ceremonies
https://www.motorsportaufdeutsch.de/englisch/ and click on IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship
What can you guys tell me? I know nothing about the sport and would like to know more.
It's been an awesome 15 years, and we can only hope the ride continues to be just as fun as we move on to the new series. On behalf of all the mods here, thank you guys for loving this crazy thing we call sportscar racing as much as we do! From the crew members who give us the inside look at how some of the teams operate at the track, to the newest fans that wanted to know the best way to experience an ALMS race live, you guys have all been awesome! We can't wait to see each and every single one of you guys as move on to #thefuture.
See you in 2014 over at /r/USCR !
I spent my Saturday in Braselton, GA with my oldest son and his friend to catch the last ALMS race ever. It was a great event, and we all had a great time. Congrats to the organizers. I am not sure if my schedule will allow me to go back next year for the USCR championship, but if it does, I will be there.
It was my first time at Road Atlanta, but I am no newbie at races: I have been to multiple open wheel races such as F1, Indycar, and a few sports cars such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and at VIR.
Here are some photos of the 2013 Petit Le Mans:

Note: I had posted one of the links by itself here on reddit last night, but when I finsihed the other 2 albuns reddit didn't let me add the links as a post, and it got really messy to add them to the comment section. So, I deleted and started again with this post.
Assuming that "Sign Up to ESPN Player's live and on demand coverage of the American Le Mans series." meant exactly that, I signed up for a Race Pass on ESPN Player, expecting to see the Petit live later today.
Turns out the Live-part isn't really relevant anymore, since the Petit will not be on ESPN at all. Of course I found that out after paying for what seems to be an on demand replay of VIR.
Live and on demand... well, partly true.
You're not technically allowed to bring alcohol into Road Atlanta.
There's been some pretty vigorous searching of cars coming into the track. Not opening suitcases, but definitely checking all the nooks and crannies.
Tread lightly.
The last ALMS race... how sad. That makes me think about all the great races over the years. What was everyone's favorite ALMS moment?
Mine had to have been the epic Sebring 2007 finish between Melo in the Ferrari and Bergmeister in the Porsche in GT2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL2HF-sFLnc
