LG CX owner upgrading to S90D (Delivery on Friday). Some concerns about motion/judder

Can anyone who at any point owned an LG CX who may have replaced it with an s90d shed some light on how you liked (or didn't like) how the motion compares between these two models with judder on movies/4k streaming content (mostly on panning shots)? While still noticeable, I was able to find a sweet spot with the CX by setting the "De-Judder" setting to 1 and enabling "Real Cinema". Anything above 1 for the "De-Judder" setting was too soap opera-y to me.

When choosing to upgrade from the CX to either the C4 or the s90D, I ended up choosing the s90D after seeing all of the comparison reviews rave about the better colors and brightness in game mode (I mostly game on my TV, but I also love watching shows and movies). It's scheduled to deliver on Friday and I'm thinking about cancelling before then because I'm worried the motion/judder will be a noticeable downgrade. Technically I'll have a return window but it'd be a major hassle since I'm in a third floor apartment and I ordered the 77".

If anyone has experience with both of these TVs, it'd be helpful to get some insight on this.

Sony 75” XR90J lines on the screen- under All State warranty

How to deal with warranty so I could get something out of it. The only issue is screen is slighty damaged at the very corner with a pointed thing. You can barely see. They asked me to submit pictures. Any suggestion?

Biggest OLED with best quality

Would like 83-95 inch OLED for basement? LG can get pricey in the 90"+ range. Is there a good comparable in that range, or do I keep the quality and go with an 83" LG G4?

Best 80" TV for Sunlight

Was considering the LG G4 83" tv but just learned that sunlight will hurt it. What is the best tv I should get instead? Ideally under $5k, we do a lot of streaming, no gaming.

Nintendo Switch lag on TCL, best 43" replacement?

What it says on the tin. Replacing an old 38" 1080 TV a friend lent me when mine died, now that I have the money to do so. I know you have more options with larger TVs but this will be literally 2-3 feet from my face so the smaller the better in my case. Primary uses are Apple TV4K and a Nintendo Switch, potentially hooking Mac Mini up to TV as well. I will likely not ever connect it to the wi-fi unless there is reason to do so.

First I bought a Pioneer TV which looked great but I was very annoyed to find did not have motion smoothing capabilities of any kind, which while I don't want to use it at all times or anything, is a feature I was really looking forward to having, so I returned it. The TCL replacement I got (model 43S551G) looks worse than the TCL did and much more importantly, I cannot play my Switch on it at all. In "game" picture mode, there is a very noticeable audio delay. In any other picture mode, there is a .5 second or so visual delay which makes most games literally unplayable. So I'm returning it tomorrow or over the weekend.

I was looking at either the Sony Bravia 3 or the Samsung DU7200, in the 43" range. The Sony is $500 at my local Best Buy and the Samsung is $260. The most important thing to me is that my Switch will actually work on it, since the ATV4K has worked fine on all TVs so far. I was pretty pissed when I found out how bad the lag was on the TCL, despite contacting the company and them basically throwing up their hands and recommending I return it. I have a friend who swears by Sonys, but we have a few other Samsungs in the house that work no problem.

Is there an obvious winner or loser in this case? While I don't want to waste money, the price is less of a concern. Thank you!

Need some help with a mounting question. Going from 65” LG CX to 77” C3.

I currently have a 65” CX that’s mounted in my living room. I’m planning to upgrade to the 77” C3 and need to figure out if I need to move the bracket mounted to the wall. Right now, I have a minimal amount of clearance between the bottom of the CX and my sound bar. What I’m hoping is that the mounting holes on the C3 are located equidistant from the bottom of the TV as the mounting holes on the smaller CX. In other words, I’m trying to confirm that the increased size between 65” and 77” will translate to added width and height from where I attach the bracket to the TV. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

15 foot viewing distance, can't decide between 77" OLED and 85" mini-LED or QLED? Will I appreciate an OLED at that distance?

Hi! I'm looking at new TV's and really torn on what to get. I have a larger den and I do have quite a few windows. They have blinds but there's still a moderate amount of natural light. Not super bright but definitely not dark. Seating position on sofa is 14.5 feet. Mostly stream Netflix, Hulu, paramount etc. Watch movies and occasional sports. I currently have a $600 Hisense 4K (R6200) just one of those budget Roku TV's that's about 5 years old. it works fine but wanted something a little nicer.

I ordered the LG 77" C3 for $1500 from Bestbuy for Cyber monday (hasn't arrived yet) but with 5 year warranty and tax it's 2k. Having second thoughts and wondering with my viewing distance am I really going to even appreciate the OLED? Would it be better to just go as big as I can and skimp on quality a little and get a 85" Hisense U6 mini/QLED for like $1000 or even a budget one like the Hisense Roku 85" R6 for $550 that Walmart has. Would really appreciate some guidance as I'm having a hard time figuring out what's best between everything.

S95D 77" being delivered - recommend a movie to highlight it's strengths

My Samsung S95D 77" is being delivered tomorrow and we thought it would be great to watch a movie (we don't get many chances to do this anyway with our child).
What's your suggestion for really highlighting its strengths?
Bonus points if the movie is under 1hr 40min (so we can still get to bed at reasonable hour)!
Most streaming services available (Prime, Disney, Apple, Netflix, Paramount, Stan, Binge).

Hisense A6K58 strange defect

Okay so I know this sub hates Hisense (and Samsung too by the flairs?) but I was on a budget and got a deal on it with free 2 years warranty so why not... Until i noticed this weird bright square on its border. I've used this crap for about 2 weeks, and have no complaints besides this. Anyone knows what it might be? Not super worried because warranty... Right? 🤔

65” options in Australia?

Hey everyone, I’m looking to purchase a TV during upcoming Boxing Day sales.

I’ve decided on a 65 inch with my specific uses being gaming, sports and movies.

I intend to run this TV via HDMI from my PC most of, if not all of the time. So user interface doesn’t matter to me as much as it may to others. I’m after a high refresh rate (at least 120hz), low input lag, as well as the ability to handle fast motion well (I mainly watch F1/motorsports and basketball). Good HDR performance but overall brightness isn’t a huge issue as it will be in a small light controlled room.

Here are the options we have here in Australia

Now an OLED, such as the Samsung S90D ticks all my boxes, but is huge chunk more expensive compared to something like a QLED here in Australia. I read a bit about the Hisense U7N, and while RTings regarded it highly, I’ve seen a few users post their poor experiences with the TV.

Is it worth biting the bullet and investing in an OLED, or can something else get me 99% of the way there, meeting my requirements? (Note I bought an OLED 34” ultrawide gaming monitor earlier this year and it’s been fantastic, although quite expensive)

Is it worth waiting until 2025 at all for a new TV dropping? I’m not familiar with what’s on the horizon.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Sony Bravia 7 vs. A80L vs. LG C4?

Thank God for BB Geek Squad protection... swaping out a 75" LG QNED for one of the above. Prices are similar due to open box options BB has...

I watch a lot of basketball and football (American) off of Direct TV (satalite). I also like shows/movies that are dark in appearance off DTV.

Not a gamer, I pry turn on my PS5 once every few months.

Big tv viewing household...so like 8-10 hrs a day since winter is here...

Please help! Esp anyone who has these with DTV and watches similar stuff.

TIA

QD OLED or Mini LED for SDR content?

Hi there.
I bought a TCL C805 55 inch for my parents few weeks ago and honestly I was shocked how good of a TV it is, its almost OLED level. In SDR only the dynamic mode activates the full brightness of it, and after adjustments it looks amazing for SDR content, especially for watching animated movies or anime.

Now after seeing what this is capable of it got me thinking what could for example a Samsung S95D do and how much better would it be? Because after checking RTINGS the S95D is only capable of 760 nits peak brightness on a 2% window in SDR, while the C805 I'm sure its a lot brighter, but even if it isnt the point is the S95D should be a lot better.
HDR is not my concern here.

So can anyone tell me if strictly for animated movies and animes Mini LEDs, especially something that is even better than the C805 are better than a QD Oled or no?
Thanks.

77” A80L or 85” X90L? Decisions…decisions

Alright so I could either get the 77 A80L for $2,199 or the 85 X90L for $1,699. I’m well aware of the tech differences between the two. I have a dark room that doesn’t see much natural light and I sit about 10ft from the tv. Im stuck on if I should pay more for a “better” tv vs paying less for a bigger one. Any input or any other recommendations are appreciated.

OLED question?

Just got my first OLED S90d Samsung. I noticed there was a pixel refresh, how often should I do that? Also is the standby screen optional? It seems to start like 5 mins into a pause of show.

75” QM7 or 65” X90L?

Looking to replace my living room tv, which is a 65” Hisense U6G. Was leaning toward the 65” X90L which is $999 right now. But then I saw the QM7 has the 75” for $899.

I know the X90L is still probably the better TV, but 10” larger and $100 cheaper, and I’ve heard really good things about the QM7.

What would you do?

Thank you for the help!

Over the past month I made several posts regarding which TV I wanted to purchase. Well, this morning I purchased a 55” TCL QM7 for $479.99 from Best Buy with a delivery date that’s scheduled for Monday. I originally was looking at the Hisense U7N, but since I was told about quality control issues, I landed see on the TCL. I’ll be mainly using the TV for gaming! So thank you very much and I hope everyone has a great holiday!

2023 QM8 Dirty Screen Effect.

I got the 2023 98" TCL QM8 in February and I LOVE it. Over the past few weeks, I've been noticing DSE more and more. To the point where I even notice it when watching normal content. It's a "once you see it, you can't unsee it." thing.

I'm chatting with Asurion right now to file a claim to get it replaced. Hopefully with the 2024 model. Anyone else seeing DSE with the QM8?

Need help finding the right TV - I only care about films

Hey there,

I bought a Toshiba 65 inch TV a while back, it's literally hot garbage. I'm looking to replace it.

I'm only going to use this for watching films. I have a mid tier budget of around £1000.00 & ideally I want it to be as big as possible (65 inch +) - I work as a director of photography in film & TV so colour accuracy is important to me. I have unique views on some features:

I don't care about:

  • Frame smoothing (this actually counts against the TV in my opinion)
  • Any motion features
  • Any features (AI or otherwise) that adjust colour. Basic menu will do.
  • High refresh rates
  • OLED

I'm neutral about:

  • Ridiculously precise dimming zones (good to have, not necessary)
  • HDR features - I think its a giant fad.

I do care about:

  • Decent black retention
  • Lack of ghosting
  • No artefacts in the shadows but I don't want some dog crap AI feature cleaning film grain for me
  • Good colour accuracy
  • Decent performing software that doesn't lag

I've got family members that have Sony Bravias, while the colour profile is punchy and the image is "good" I don't actually like how it resolves an image aesthetically. I wouldn't describe it as "cinematic" - in short, basically i'd like a TV that gets as close as possible to the aesthetic of projection with good colour accuracy. I was thinking the matte non reflective screens of the samsung frame could be the closest i'm going to get. But I literally can't view them irl anywhere.

Any help is appreciated.

Help Choosing a 55”-65” TV

It had been 6-7 years since I’ve bought a TV and I am kind of out of the loop. I want to state upfront that I am on a budget and won’t be going over it. I can’t. I’m taking care of my father who is dying of dementia and I just don’t have the extra money. My budget is $450.

The sizes that I am looking for are 55”-65”. I watch Netflix, Amazon, DVD’s and Blu-Ray movies. I also do some gaming once in a while. I have an original Xbox, Nintendo Switch and a PS5.

I have owned both Samsung and LG in the last. Samsung I have had bad luck with, but I am willing to give them another shot. I typically had them last 1-2 years before something goes wrong with them. LG no issues with as of yet. I know nothing about TCL other than I do like the pricing.

What I am looking at.

TCL Q7 (55”)

TCL Q6 (55”)

TCL Q5 (55”)

TCL S5 (65”)

TCL S4 (65”) The one I keep seeing is Roku version. It is also one that has 4 HDMI ports. I think all the others I have listed have 3 HDMI port.

TCL S571 (58”) I see this TV at Costco. It is a Costco only deal?

LG UT70 (55” & 65”)

LG UT75 (55”)

LG 75UQA (55”)

LG UT8000 (65”)

This TV will be in my bedroom. It’s where I primarily watch TV and play video games when I get the time to game.

Thank you everyone for the help and guidance. It’s been a bit overwhelming and frustrating to figure out. Not to mention trying to do this while taking care of my dad.

Open space above Samsung logo on Samsung QN90D/QN92D tv?

I bought my tv last week. I was cleaning it today and saw an opening above the samsung logo on the bottom right corner. It is small, but I can see internal electronics through it. Is it normal or is it a defect? Thanks

75" Samsung QN90D vs the 75" Sony Bravia (First Reddit Post)

Hello everyone, this is my very first Reddit post! I'm torn between two TVs: the 75" Samsung QN90D and the 75" Sony Bravia 7. A few years ago, I compared the Samsung Q80 and Sony models, and I ultimately chose Samsung for its more vivid and saturated colors, which I really loved. However, I've recently heard great things about the Bravia 7, particularly its superior brightness and better processor.

I primarily stream content, watch YouTube, and consume a lot of non-4K, some non 1080p material, with a bit of gaming on the side. My living room has some windows on one side, and the layout is a long rectangle with TV at one end side of it. My seating arrangement for watching TV is typically 6 to 10 feet away, at an angle of 10 to 30 degrees. However, I also find myself viewing the TV from tighter angles, such as from the kitchen counter or dining area. I've heard that the Bravia 7 performs poorly in terms of viewing angles and reflections (also in rting.com), but when I spoke with the staff at Best Buy, they suggested that the performance differences between these two models in those areas are minimal and generally they suggest Bravia 7.

Additionally, I own a Samsung sound bar that could potentially work with Q-Symphony on the QN90D, but I'm unsure how important that feature is to my decision. I would really appreciate any opinions or experiences you can share to help me choose between these two options. By the way, I also considered the 65" S90D OLED ($200 cheaper than the other 2) as a third option but ruled it out due to concerns about brightness and size.

Thank you!

730€ for a 55' LG CX a good deal?

I'm looking for a new TV and already ordered a 55' TCL QM8B for 550€ but I was curious and looked at OLEDs and found an older LG CX (2020) for 730€, performance should be around C3/B4 level, should I stick with the TCL or cancel the order and get the CX instead?

Best TV for $2500 AUD (can maybe stretch to $3500)

Hey all, I'm looking for a new TV to purchase within this price range. If possible I'd like it to be 120hz compatible with the PS5.

I would love an OLED however I am unsure if it is the right choice for me at this point in time as I do tend to have heavy game sessions with consistent HUD elements especially on weekend, far more than typical.

I also do enjoy my movies and TV series, though I stream most of them rather than use blu-rays.

Size wise I would probably prefer an 85inch, but am willing to go down to 75inch.

Any suggestions on what might be best would be awesome. Cheers.

83' woled S90D vs 77' S95D vs 77' S90D

Hi ther,

Considering I have about 14 feet of distance between sofa and tv, which TV would be best suited between a '77 S95D or S90D, an '83 S90? I know that s90d in '83 comes with woled all the other in QD-Oled. C4 don't match for my taste S90D or S95D but maybe it's different from C4. I'll be using it mainly for Netflix, TV shows, Prime Video, and movies. Many thanks
