Hi there! I'm new to IM and running it on Foundry, and have run into an "issue" during character creation. When picking your Role, you get a number of free Advances. When I add these via the "Advancement" button on the character sheet, they cost XP and that messes up the XP balance on the sheet. Is there a way to add these free Advances, or am I misunderstanding something and these Advances are not free?
Just a quick understandings question. When you take your Characteristics with Point-buy in Imperium Maledictum, there is the following line:
Each Characteristic begins at 20 and you have 90 points to
allocate across the Characteristics as you prefer, with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 18 allocated to any single Characteristic.
That means, essentially, all characteristics are 24 at base, and I then have 54 (9 characteristics, so 9*4=36; 90-36=54) points to spend, right?
The question doesn't seem to be covered by the Rogue Trader conversion rules on page 172 of the RT core book. I've noticed that many powers in the Biomancy Discipline have an effect that grows stronger if you exceed the Threshold by a certain amount, but there's no info that I can tell in the conversion rules about how to handle that. It mentions how to handle increases in Threshold, but not exceeding the Threshold.
Is this handled by increasing the effective Psy-Rating? Or Degrees of success?
Greetings Brothers,
I am a neophyte to this whole thing...
We will start playing this month. I would like to be able to throw out some typical sentences for interaction between the many chapters.
Like choice insults, complaints and grieviances to make the game feel more real.
What chapters say to each other, when the heat is on, or things to be said to eachother before meeting a representative of a friendly or even a not so friendly chapter.
Lets say White Scars meeting a few Raven Guard.
Abgreat bonus would be something similar about the other institutions of the Imperium.
Happy new year everyone!
On page 205 of the core rules it says that each session you can make one influence test for gear and one influence test for ammo. I'm curious, do you tend to use these rules or do you make a test whenever it feels right, or do you use some other system?
I haven't had a chance to play Wrath and Glory yet but this "1 per session" thing feels weird. Like, I don't go shopping for a little food every day, I do a big trip to the supermarket like once a week. I generally want to follow the book as closely as possible (at least to start) but I can't imagine how this "1 per session" thing would play out at the table.
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone knew if there are any rogue trader books where you can make an admech character // one that lists out some augmentation etc.
Every Google search I end up doing all leads back to pasqual from the video game which isn't much help haha.
Does the Iron Hands chapter boost all willpower based tests, or is it only boost “willpower test”? I’m preparing to GM my first ever game and I don’t know how to adjudicate this. If it boosts ever willpower based test then that is insanely powerful and it can scale to high levels if the player requisitions a bunch of augmetics so I feel like it can’t be that… but on the other hand, straight willpower tests seem so rare and specific that it feels like it can’t be that either, I think I’ve only seen one total in everything I’ve read.
Is there anyone out there that has experience with ripping out the requisition system and adding currency back into the game? I'm not a big fan of it, as it can lead to frustration and wonkiness, compared to the much more elegant solution of simply having money, like in DH1. (Hilarious situation of trading a heavy stubber for a molotov cocktail aside)
Hi there,
I'm soon gonna run an adventure on Illisear. My party has decided upon a Magos Biologis as their Patron who is very much into Xenos tech. I decided that the planet's thin veil with the Immaterium there might be due to a Necron device I'm calling the Empyric Oscillator, a device that can switch the polarity of blackstone back and forth. Over the millennia, it has slowed down to match he planet's day and night cycle (hence the Fiends of the Deep Night, as the veil is weak during the night, ergo daemons come through). As this would be Necron tech, I think it'd be fun to have the party find a Gauss Flayer at some point (or perhaps to use a few Necron Warriors against them). I'm trying to come up with a profile, but have no idea how ammo would work for a Gauss weapon. Also, Rapid Fire? Burst? Yes/no? This is what I have so far:
What do you think? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
I like playing gishes a lot and am new to rogue trader. Is there a viable way to make the astropath transcendent a gish?
I started some weeks ago in the franchise and I want to start a game I am creating a chapter and the plans are a one-shot maybe more
What system is better to create a custom chapter and a custom planet and give a lot of options to players inside this parameters?
Currently in a ~14k exp campaign and finally replacing the character. Planning to go with a sniper, but i am torn whether to pick guardsman or assassin. Any advice?
Also - no ascension.
I have a couple ideas but I want to run a game in the time period of the war of the beast.
One of the ideas is start the game as some of the players being imperial fists on Ardumantia, and let them somehow survive the slaughter there. And come across and do missions fighting back against the orks, fighting on terra, and many other battlefields.
Does this sound viable?
Just a stupid question: What character creation rules would be best to recreate the vibe of a Brother from the Emperor’s Spears? Still a noob at the system, but willing to use homebrew if anybody has it.
I know in dark heresy 1 flame weapons jam on a 9 damage roll, wanted to make sure if that stayed the same or if they're somehow reliable in only war
I'm preparing for a big RT game set in the Koronus Expanse and am currently combing the various books for all canonically confirmed planets and factions in the expanse.
It only occurred to me deep into my 3rd spreadsheet that I should check if someone in the community has already done the work, and - if not - I can try and format my work into a form that is readable to otherw rather than my current 'crazy board' and make it available when I'm done.
Existing wikis have been very hit or miss. Best list I've found so far is an old forum thread, but that's woven in with the GM's specific campaign lore.
Hey everyone! I'm really sorry to ask but are there any groups available where I can play as a space marine or something similar because I'm really new to this game and I really wanna learn how to play
Hello again! I have a new player in my group and plan to run a short session so he can try the system and get some experience, I'm thinking on putting the players on a ship that will get attacked by drukhari, I will let them try different skills to use the ships system and additional checks along the way, with a bit of combat, but I can't figure out a story to tie it all together, any ideas are welcome!
I'm building an imperium sniper as my firts character and i'm using the doctors-of-doom character builder to make sure i'm not making any mistakes. I wanted to get a Long las, but i've noticed that the listed range is different from the one on my physical copy, doctors-of-doom says 12 | 24 | 36 and the book 18 | 36 | 54. Was it nerfed at some point? Which one is the correct range?
Does Cubicle 7 still publish this and is the game system still supported on Foundry? I've never seen a digital key showing as out of stock unless it was discontinued by the publisher. It doesn't appear to be published elsewhere and even the base game system appears to require assets from it.
Hello everyone! I recently bought IM and I'm trying to descipher how many friends I need to brainwash to play properly. I have two friends who are intersted, is that enough?
In W&G, would Psyniscience be able to detect things, that were infused or twisted by warp?
For example a cursed glass that would taint those who drink from it? Or similar, subtle corruption vectors.
Hey folks, I'm looking at IM and I just watched Sisu (recommend everyone to watch, it's a silly film but gory and hard AF) and I was wondering what happens when you crit on a Ranged Test when throwing a grenade (or, you know, a German land mine). Is that even possible? The explosives explanation text specifically mentions what happens when you Fumble, so it seems like if you can Fumble you should be able to Crit as well.
Does everyone in the Zone suffer a critical hit if they don't reduce the SL of the attack? Does no one take a critical hit?
Thanks in advance!
