In this series we will learn about the powerful 2D tool called ShapeBoolean, where you can combine multiple shapes, closed or opened, to form a resulting shape using various methods. In this first part, we will learn 3 different methods: Union, Subtract, and Intersect. Also, we will see the importance of the order we choose the combined shapes, plus the nice feature of adding Fillet or Chamfer to those combined shapes.

Hi guys.
I've been working in vfx for about 2 years now - not long! But I can already tell that I much prefer working for myself... I know I'm not special and imagine most people feel the same way. I feel this way for several reasons, but the main one is the fact I work so hard. I stay up late sometimes to get my work looking as good as it can, and really just always do everything I can to deliver the best it can be. Therefore, I would like to invest this time and energy into myself, rather than my company and boss benefitting from it. Another reason would simply be because I quite like to be ambitious, working my 9 - 5 really doesn't push me creatively and I usually have the weeks roll on by ( which I don't like). Im also quite young (23m) and dont have too many responsibilities (family etc). So feel like now would be a good time to try something like this?
This brings me here and asking - Is there good/ any money to be made from selling 3D assets. If so, which sells best? I have initially thought of this as I have 6 years studying in games working with optimized assets and real-time engines, as well as my more recent 2 years of experience working with big vfx film assets. With this experience, I feel more than confident in my abilities to successfully deliver an asset to a high level.
Like I said, it would be good to hear what you think would be the most successful thing to sell. I have always fantasized about the idea of selling 3D scans - I dont have a camera and no experience on the actual scanning process. But I could learn. I would then be more than confident in doing a good job retopologizing, cleaning up textures, and delivering a polished final scan. Going outside, scanning, and then finalizing your model sounds like an awesome lifestyle. Part of me doubts if theres any money in it at all though.
Many thanks for reading. I have done very little research into this field so if i come accross as ignorant, please excuse me! Just getting some initial thoughts out. Thanks.
Hey folks,
I'm currently working on a research project that aims to help freelance 3D artists, with a particular focus on Singapore and more broadly Southeast Asia. My understanding is that the community is fragmented, and there seems to be no dominant platform/initiative that brings the artists together.
If you're currently based or working with clients in this region, I'd appreciate some suggestions in term of how I can reach out to this community.
Cheers!
My 3D model looks like this after placing the lights (I honestly made a mistake and put sunlight instead of spot light, but even if I remove it later, it still looks like this) the program is 3dMax
I am an author who writes sci-fi and fantasy. I've published two books in a series. for the past month now, I've really gotten into 3d modeling. I've been making stuff from my books for the past month and a half. From swords to suits of armor, and even some miniatures. I want to somehow make my work available to the public but I'm not sure what the best way to do so is. I could sell the models which was my original plan, but I've been told that would be bad for my brand. I've been told I should print them and sell them myself. I do not have the capacity to do so yet. What should I do?
