Art, design, and other cultural artifacts from the 1920s.

A forum for discussing and enjoying design from the 1920s in all forms; be it art, advertising, fashion, vehicles, architecture, or any other culture-adjacent facet of life.

Please avoid posting contemporary content that is merely 1920s-inspired, this sub is for true 20s designs!

Rules:

1. - True 1920s Designs only!

Please be sure what you're posting is of true 1920s design. Styles like Art Deco have proven incredibly popular even after falling out of the mainstream, leading to many contemporary products and art to be influenced by 20s stylings. (Faithful reproductions are OK)

2. - Please link directly to content if possible.

Certain websites do not enjoy being directly linked to from forums like Reddit, which can lead to either a hug-of-death or the page showing up as denied/inaccessible. If your content is posted on a site that isn't Reddit-friendly (flikr, pintrest) then please rehost it on Imgur, i.reddit, or another simple hosting service!

3. - If you've found an image online, please try to use the clearest version possible!

Some archival sites or converted/scanned content can be somewhat heavily compressed. That can be an unavoidable matter sometimes, but if your image is grainy or pixelated, try doing a reverse image search to find the largest available resolution! This rule is really only to prevent folks from accidentally posting thumbnails or other extremely tiny images. No post will be removed for this unless it is impossible to see what the picture is supposed to be!

Saturday watch illustration, today with one piece from my favorite holy trinity brand: the Vacheron Constantin Historique American! This one has the most noticeable feature of having its deal turned 45º, so people would never take out the hands of the driving wheel to tell the time!

Saturday watch illustration, this time with the very first waterproof wristwatch: the Rolex Oyster! This was also the very first Rolex, and the best way to prove the world of their capabilities was thanks to the swimmer Mercedes Gleitze that carried it along on her English Channel 10 hours swim.

Looking for a couple new mods, maybe some help with sub design too!

Hi folks! I'm reviving this old, dusty sub and would love to have some help setting it up! I'm somewhat handy making logos and graphics, but I can't set up subreddit styling to save my life. If anybody wants to join the modteam for this sub and help out, that would be great! I'd like to eventually fill in all the missing decades (30s & 40s, maybe 2010s and turn of the 20th century as well eventually) but for now this is a good start!

If you already do a little bit of modding elsewhere then all the better, but it's pretty easy to learn the ropes so anyone is welcome to apply as long as they like the sub's topic! :) Cheers!
