Some things I’ve noticed with my serve is that I’m opening my racket up way too early and not really getting the benefits of pronating right before contact. I think its a symptom of jumping to my left so I can hit the ball with a straight arm rather than angling my wrist. You can see as I make contact my racket and arm are in a straight line rather than at an angle. Im really trying to fix the pronation here, any tips?
Saw this reel at my local tennis shop. Pulled a set off of it. I usually use 130 but if I like this I'll switch. I break too fast.
Been playing for about two months with my girlfriend at minimum 8 hours every week. I’ve been using a Babolat Drive Max 110 and typically when I try to put topspin on the ball, or just try to do a full swing, it just goes way too deep, or out of bounds. When I play with her racket, a Yonez Ezone Ace 100 (I think) I have much less of an issue with this.. am I wrong for looking for rackets with 100 Sq Inch heads thinking this will aid with my issue,or do I just need to practice more? Thanks in advance, and if you have good suggestions for rackets in the 100 sq inch range leave a comment.
Currently wearing the 996v5 in EE but could use something a bit wider. Before I try going up in size, does anyone have a recommendation for a comfortable shoe that comes wider than this NB shoe?
I see a lot of reviews on the EE width mention they’re narrower than expected.
I find myself finding my game sometimes after an hour or more into hitting. On the bright side i have the endurance to play really long matches. But in doubles sometimes I can go an entire match without finding my game.
If I can, what I would do is warm up before my match for half an hour on top the 5-10 min warmup for matches. But that doesn’t always work too well because of timing. Wondering if there was any strategy or methodology to improve warmup efficiency?
Hey everyone, I'm looking for a good coach in nyc mostly to work on my serve. I've done some lessons through rcta but it wasn't very personalized and was only slightly better than using a ball machine. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Hello,
I've been a club player for 3 years and I still struggle with consistency when I'm in a bad day.
I wrote different key checkpoints to help with the consistency and I would like some feed back:
Groundstroke (both Forehand and Backhand):
Do you think I am missing a key element?
Hey there
I plan to stay in Dubai till January and seems like here is lack of tennis player. I do train a lot, but hope to play as well with people.
My level is something between 2.5-3.0, maybe in some days i can act like 3.5 :D
I will be happy to play matches/league or tournaments whatever.

Let me know in DM or here.
So a bit of background, I'm 26, 4.5, all court player, use pure aero rafa with shaped poly at 52lbs.
I wanted to give natural gut a try since people have always said great things about this string. Also I was a bit tired of getting the polys restrung so often. So I saw the luxilon natural gut go on sale and decided to pick those up. Got my friend to string it up at 57 lbs and was super excited to try it out. First time hitting I had very mixed feelings. (only played on it for around an hour) so I was like I'll know for sure if I like it or not after playing a full session next time. So after about 3 hours of play time here are my thoughts.
Overall I just feel disappointed, it didn't check any of the boxes except durability. I mean I'll give it a few more tries but I doubt my opinion will change much. Does anyone feel this way about natural gut? or am I missing something 🙃
TLDR, Luxilon natural gut almost feels like playing on dead polys
Hello,
Returning player here. Played in my junior years a lot and mainly used Head Prestige Pro (98) and Pro Staff Six-one 95 (red and white) back then which were hand downs from older siblings. Now I still have those and have been playing with them and I'm not really sure I like them any more as they feel pretty difficult racquets to play with. My baseline strokes aren't as good as I would like them to be. (I know self-improvement and playing more will fix this. In addition I am working on improving fitness and movement).
I like the Pro Staff more than the Prestige Pro. The serve is much better with Wilson and I get a really good feeling with it. From the baseline I found that against opponents who play much faster/harder it felt like I'm a bit more late with the Pro Staff then with the Prestige Pro. With the heavier Wilson it feels like I could get a great shot, by really plowing through and hitting hard, but that makes it hard to control the ball. It could be that my current physicals aren't good enough for the heavy hitting this racquet requires. These are just some of the feelings I've had with these. In no way am I a volley player so a classic serve and volley playstyle is far from my comfort zone :D .
Now what could be the modern alternatives on the market? I think I got 2 ways to look at it from the current market.
Maybe a Wilson Pro Staff X v14 or another similar? Get a bigger frame to make the ground strokes easier to hit possibly? Do people have experiences with these types? So basically go with the same model, but a bit more forgiving variant of the racquet.
Or should I think of switching to a more "easier" racquet like Babolat Pure Drive or Yonex Ezone? At least I've read and researched that people find these ones maybe a bit more forgiving. A racquet that enables more spin than the older ones could be good also.
Any opinions and advice are welcomed. As I stated it's not that I want to immediately improve my game with a new racquet, rather I would like to update 10+ year old equipment with something new. I do plan on demoing the racquets before making the purchase.
What are some tips about playing with mixed difficulties I mostly play mixed doubles and it can be very mixed going from 2.0 to 4.0. At the 3.5 level people hit with a pace and online their rhythm but then you have other folks closer to to 2.0 first time picking up the sport and they don’t hit with pace and it’s very slow balls throws me all off I end up just chipping and slicing a lot. But how do you play women and men with these very mixed difficulties is it just focus footwork and form and accept you got a bad partner ?
After being sidelined for a week wrist feels like it’s getting stronger i could put a lot of weight on my swinging hand able to do pushups could even do a one handed plank Hold. I think just need to strengthen and stretch now. What are other tests to make sure wrist is good for tennis shape.
Hello.
Im a comfortable beginner player (if that makes sense) looking for advise.
I recently had the strings of my racket break and have been considering getting a second racket. I currently use the pro staff team v13 (don’t know much about it, it had the cheapest shipping cost to my country and I liked the colour).
Now I’m wondering if I should get the same exact racket (I’ve seen a couple of places suggesting this) or get a more advanced racket from the same line or try another line.
I’m currently playing in Adidas Court Jam and experiencing heel pain in both feet after sessions. I suspect I need better cushioning, especially since I’m 6’3” 220lbs. What are some shoes that offer epic cushioning?
Lefty player with an eastern forehand grip. Currently out with a wrist injury due to overuse and possible choice of grip, was told there could be too much pressure on my thumb, due to the way I hold my racquet.
Would the likes of the semi-western grip take the pressure off? Or is there anything I could do just to improve my eastern grip as it feels the most natural.
Thanks in advance!
Normally my forehand is my best shot where I can swing fully through the ball and generate a heavy ball with consistent depth. It also pretty much feels effortless.
Today I played 2 sets of doubles and I literally forgot how to hit my forehand. I tried swinging normally like how I'm used to and nothing worked.
I tried focusing on various technical aspects like my footwork, split step, my swing path, turning sideways, bending my legs, pat the dog, keeping my arms and wrist loose, follow through etc and that just made my FH completely breakdown.
Feeling so frustrated today. I experienced the same thing in the last 30 mins of yesterday and today was a continuation.
Thoughts? Should I just take a couple days break and not think about tennis? What has been your experience
If you had a chance to buy a piece of land and build a tennis club from scratch, what would be your must haves and must avoid. It can be anything from facility layout, atmosphere, members only or open to public etc…
Hello folks!
Like the title says: I just started playing tennis and sweating in leggings is awful. I would like to go for the skorts and dresses, but ATM I'm on the heavier side and fat thighs are not comfortable with short shorts (they ride up). I'm in Europe, so brands/models suggestions are very welcome.
Thank you!
I just picked up the Blade V9 and I love it, but keen to hear what strings you enjoy using on it! Thanks
I have a bad habit of not stopping and running through short balls instead of stopping before hitting them. Wondering how you guys overcame that.
thanks.
Played a guy today, point went from 40–30 (me serving) to deuce, but guy called Game as if it were 30–40.
It was 35 degrees C (95 F) and I was struggling in the heat, so I knew his call was wrong, but couldn’t immediately remember the right score to correct him with.
Every fucking match you have to be on the lookout for these unsportsmanlike turds 😅 Do they hate losing so much they’re willing to blatantly cheat to win?

Been playing in GR9’s and Barricades before that. So I’m considering trying out a lighter, more speed-focused shoe. I find the GR9’s too heavy and unwieldy for my play style. I’m wanting something that lets me be a bit quicker on my feet.
Options are the AG-LT23’s, Wave Exceed Tour 6’s, or the Solution Speed FF3’s. Where I’m from, they can be had for a little less than USD 200. Another available option is the Solution Speed FF2’s, which are on sale for around USD 100. Are the FF3’s (or any of the other options, for that matter) worth investing twice as much in?
whats wrong with this serve? i feel like im not hitting the ball flat like im getting no power into the ball
I'm a 3.5 but am hoping to bump up to a 4.0 this year. I've only played two 4.0 doubles matches and won both but I read that you have to play three matches to go up, so I just entered a 3.5 singles tournament (only tournament available near me). The first match, I lost by two points in a tiebreaker to another 3.5 who said he won a few other 3.5 tournaments, so he'll probably bump up.
Then I was in the losers bracket and won 6-0 (first match), 6-1 (2nd match), 6-1 (3rd match)...those guys were probably more like 3.0 and I just started hitting at them or going for shots I normally wouldn't go for and gave them both a game. So the question is...with this tournament, do I have enough games this year to potentially bump up? And do you think this tournament screwed me because I lost the first match and then gave a game away to players way worse than me? I think I'm definitely 4.0 doubles, and singles...maybe high 3.5 or low 4.0.
Bonus question: Are the players who play tournaments usually stronger or weaker than the leagues? Thanks!
