Hello everyone,
I’m looking for some advice in the best way to approach a drop as the other team is well aware of how powerful our centre is and have planned a drop.
The drop they are planning:
I believe it’s a 2,4 drop, depending on which has the ball but the tactic is too foul our arc players as soon as possible and have everyone crash back onto the centre.
I feel like my legs aren't that weak but watching some keepers they manage to sit so high and still jump after balls? How should I practice to be able to do this?
I was wondering if the rules allowed to do a penalty shot trick.
I know you cannot fake on a penalty shot, you have to shoot in one swift motion.
But would I be allowed to intentionally miss my shot to "pass" it in front of me for a teammate to pick it up and shoot?
Not the same sport, but the same idea as what Messi & Suarez did here:
Hey guys, bit random and hopefully this is aloud but I’ve been thinking it’d be cool to get some swim gear from other countries. Anyone interested in swapping or sending over a swim cap or something from their club/team? Happy to pay shipping. Just thought it’d be a fun way to collect some cool stuff
I am a freshmen at community college and want to try water polo is there anyway I can still play or is it only a high school thing. Would it be horrible if I tried out for some college team? Where do I even start?
By this I mean, an individual has can swim 6-7 times a week and continue to get faster, whereas a person can't work the same muscle group out 6-7 times a week without going backwards or injuring themselves... So is it eggbeater something that should be trained intensely everyday as a goalie and improvement would follow or is it like weight-lifting?
I want to add weight training into my routine to get better and more explosive as a goalie but I also don't want to injure myself? I train Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday and have games on the weekend, how should I add it in- considering that I train legs all 4 days and I want to train legs at the gym.
I’m surprised no one here has ever mentioned using these considering I do; they’re basically contact lenses you sleep with at night, take it off in the morning and it’s perfect vision all day long, and pretty much the ideal solution to anyone playing a sport like water polo without having to by disposable lenses to wear every game
Anyone here use these before? Just a genuine question, it is a costly pair of lenses so I wouldn’t be surprised if not too many has heard of it before, much less used them.
How should a goalie train to follow the ball better and stop faster high level shots?
I’m a 29 yo male and going to be in SoCal for a couple weeks, wondering if there’s any teams in south LA county/north Orange County who allow drop ins? I have 4 years playing exp and 3 yrs ref experience.
Honestly not even worried if I get in the water, would just like to watch and learn from people better than me (which is all of you in SoCal)
junior in high school who’s fairly new to this sport. during games i find myself gassing out barely near the end of the 1st quarter swimming with my head up, which i find concerning since i’m fully capable of doing the long distance swim sets my coach gives me and the rest of our team—that is, regular freestyle with our heads down. any technique tips?
if you've read my previous post: played my first game and it was a blast with room for improvement! however, i'm concerned with my vision; to clarify i do wear contact lenses, i just took them off before the game because the risk for infection isn't any surprising news. thought i'd be able to see and man was i wrong after the sun set. do you all have any experience wearing contact lenses to play polo? i should also mention i occasionally swim across the field with my head down before quickly lifting my head back up-will opening my eyes in the water increase my risk of infection?

Hey I've only just started playing water polo like maybe a season or two. But my club has mainly older guys In it, Im just wondering if anyone around my age 17-20 male wants to be mates and just have general chats and advice about water polo?
Hey, I am trying to learn the eggbeater tread, but I am having significant difficulty due to my lack of hip internal rotation. I have about 5* of internal rotation bilaterally due to retroverted hips. As a result, I cannot rotate my leg/hip during the initial phase of the eggbeater. Retroverted hips have plagued me for most of my adult life, and I have have numerous radiology scans(CT, MRI, XRAY) all confirming my limitations are skeletally driven(rather than soft tissue restrictions).

I am hoping to come here to get advice from others who may have encountered other individuals w/ this problem, and what any possible alternative methods could be for extended periods of treading water w/ minimal physical exertion.
junior year of high school; first ever game tomorrow and to put it bluntly i’m fucking terrified even with practice. do y’all have any position recommendations in the field that provides a lesser amount of getting manhandled? i know i can’t escape the physicality of this sport.
also does dropping the ball and swimming with it count
If a timeout is called from a goalie tip out of bounds and it’s a two meter. After the timeout can the offensive player inbounding the two meter swim in and shoot. Is it the same for a two meter, after a timeout?
I was on a highschool water polo team for two years, freshman to very beginning of junior year, and I quit because of my coaches treatment of me. I had previously not done many team sports at a more competitive level so I don't know if this is normal but here was my experience. If this is normal please let me know, cause I might just be not ment for this kinda sport. :)
Any way a comprehensive list of my old coaches bat shit rules, or things she did:
1- refused to play me in half the games, despite being on JV, asking for more game time, and our JV having only 9 players including a goalie
2- yelled at me for having a horrible ear infection and not being able to swim for a week
3- yelled at me for having pneumonia and my lungs being so sick I couldn't sit up with out choking on my own lungs
4- got mad I took a summer class so I could be ahead for college
5- got mad I did throws for track rather then swim, despit telling her the swim team was so bad I was suicidal the prior year
6- got mad I went on vacation over summer, spring, and winter break
7- was upset I missed practice after taking my AP world test
8- was mad I missed practice to take my driving test, despit needing my license to be able to go to the summer practices
9- refused to let me practice with varsity during my third summer on the team, I was the only non freshman on JV
10- told me I didn't care enough about the team to ever be good, and said that if I didn't dedicate everything to the team I was not worth her time
11- got mad I took off a practice because I was exhausted and had to teach my MUN class for 3 hours after school, and said I clearly didn't care about water polo and was wasting her time
12- told the team to quit any after school activities because they would interfere with practice
13- implemented 6am practice on Mondays to punish me and the three other girls who had schedules that interred with water polo
14- refused to listen to any of my concerns, lying to me several times
15- was upset I wasn't good enough but never gave md chances to learn new skills, like game time, varsity practice, or feedback
16- told us grades where vital to our success, yet got mad when players missed to study and prioritize players who had c's or d's in their classes
17- didn't realize I quit for a week after I dropped the class despite getting an email saying I had left
18- has made grades based on attendance and made going to the boys games mandatory
There's a lot more but this is the majority of it. Some of these are less unreasonable, but to me these lead me to quit. If your having a similar problem Mabey this makes you feel less shity. And if your a coach or player please let me know if I'm right in feeling like this is a bad way to coach. If it's not please tell me cause I might just be wrong.
Hey everyone,
I'm currently in my first year playing for a JUCO team in Southern California. I don’t start, but I know I have solid fundamentals, and I believe I’m a pretty good player overall. My dream is to eventually play at a higher level—ideally D1 or D2, though I'd be totally fine with D3 as well.
Here’s the thing: I’m not necessarily looking for playing time. I’d be more than happy just being on the team, practicing, and learning from more experienced players and coaches. My main goal is to deepen my understanding of the game. I want to take my game knowledge as far as possible because, down the line, I’m really interested in becoming a coach.
So, my question is: Do you think it's possible for a coach to let someone on the team with this mindset? Even if it means not playing much (or at all), I’m really just looking to soak up as much knowledge as I can and grow as a player and future coach. Has anyone seen or experienced something like this before?
also If I were to transfer to a D3 school to play or any school, which programs would you recommend for the best overall experience
are they worth it? they are very expensive however i’m not sure whether they are worth the price. I don’t get much training so it could benefit me a lot but im unsure
