Shipping estimate was for October 4th, but the company called me and informed me it was coming today. I was extremely nervous seeing all the QC reports about Samsung and the Odyssey series, so I promised myself that I would report my results here be they good or bad.
Ordered from Samsung Direct.
Should anything go awry in the coming days or weeks I will update this. So far so good though! Wanted to add in my anecdote as most reports here are only from those who have experienced issues.
Hello all. First time poster but I can't seem to get a straight answer when googling.
If I get a 49" ultrawide, is there a way to run the game in the center but also access the left and right sides of the monitors for multitasking (like you would do if you had three monitors)? Does powertoys or DusplayFusion accomplish this if you set your boundaries and play in full screen windowed?
I know I can have black bars on the sides but I'm also conditioned to have other monitors nearby to view discord/steam/web browser etc. so it would be cool to have the option for full screen when I'm wanting that amazing immersion but also centered when I want to multitask.
Thanks in advance!
Currently i own a samsung crg90 which is a 49inch qled panel with 120hz refresh rate and 5120x1440 resolution. Though i really love this monitor but im a video editor and a music producer and recently i bought new studio speakers(monitors) which are horizontally placed and the listetning distance for them needs to be atleast 4foot and there should not be any obstruction in front of them so right now i have to keep my 49 inch monitor away from my desk behind the speakers so it doesnt manipulate my sound because of which the text have become very small and to compensate that i have to turn on screen scaling to 175% which is making my editing softwares window very small and clustered. So im thinking of buying a normal monitor which can fix this issue. But im really confused about the resolution. I want a monitor either to be same as what i have right now in terms of refresh rate and picture quality but should solve the clustered windows problem with the viewing distance of 146cm. Please help will a 48 inch 16:9 monitor solve my problem or should i buy a bigger one with that distance?
I recently bought a Samsung CRG9 from Amazon for work/gaming and I'm not sure what to think about it. I love the size and curvature for productivity, but the image quality seems very mediocre. Colors seem off OOTB and changing color profiles doesn't help.120Hz the image feels very blurry compared to my previous 144Hz IPS panel. And text is a bit fuzzy, which I don't think is a PPI issue because my last monitor was 1440p 27" and felt very crisp.
I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a better option. Price is no object, but I'm having trouble tracking down comparisons of the options: CRG9 vs G9 vs neo G9 vs OLED G9 vs Asus XG49WCR vs LG UG. I want the best image quality I can get for both productivity (clear text, good colors) and gaming (high refresh rate, variable refresh rate support, good response time with little ghosting). Nice to haves would be good HDR support and USB C with power delivery so I can ditch my dock for a simpler setup, but that's not a deal breaker.
Anyone with hands on experience able to point me in the right direction? Tempted to go with the G9 OLED except I'm worried about burn in since I'll be using this monitor for work 8+ hours per day.
Hi guys. I have this dell monitor p3421w that I bought to use with my Samsung tab on dex mode and it is fairly good for productivity. I was hopping to use my Ps5 on it as well albeit I was expecting to have black bars on the sides but it stretches the whole thing making it very difficult to play. The monitor doesn't support a native 16:9 aspect ratio and I swallowed it and moved on. However, today I was messing with my tab and accidentally I set it on a 16:9 aspect ratio with the side bars. How can I replicate it on the Ps5? Does anyone know? Ty
Could anyone with a 57 measure how wide and how deep the stand is? I'd like to know if my desk is deep enough to still use a deskpad in front of the stand.
i'm looking at upgrading from my lg 34wn80c-b to something with something with a faster refresh rate to take advantage of my new 4090. i do a bit of coding work so im looking for anything thats not an oled since im scared of burn in. ive been looking at lg 34GP83A-B, AW3821DW, and the odyssey neo g9, but wasnt sure if any other than the g9 has pip/pbp support (also the g9 might be a little too big for what i need). i want to be able to support multiple inputs such as a laptop and my pc, or be able to use one source and treat the monitor as two monitors. thanks!
I see on the Samsung website a lot of negativity around warranty support or the screens just cracking one day.
Has anyone here had issues? I guess most people leave negative reviews to rant but not positive ones as if something just works why tell everyone!
Hello, I'm hoping someone here could help me confirm something.
I recently got the new 49'' Samsung Odyssey and was surprised to find that the PbP only supported a 1:1 split. I had an old version where I always use 21:9 + 11:9 format for a "main" and a minor screen. The lacking functionality prompted me to return the new monitor since solutions like fancy zones simply can't replace the functionality of actual separate monitors.
I am thinking of getting the 57'' version instead since the Samsung homepage seems to indicate it can do pbp properly. Anyone here who has it already and can share what formats it supports?
Hi I am looking for a LG 38GN950-B, and I founders one but is name in the Web page as "LG 38GN950" without the last "-B". Is this a previous model?, is it the same as the "-B" one?
I intend to purchase a 34" curved ultrawide monitor. I would like to mount this my Ergotron LX monitor arm. Preferably without damaging the monitor. 😬
Does anyone has a tips how to do this safely?
some months ago i got an ultrawide monitor (21:9) for csgo, i would play in 16:9 (stretched to 21:9) and the framerate was high, just recently ive encountered an issue: the game client was locking the framerate to 60 fps on the 16:9 stretched resolution. does anyone know how i could possibly fix this issue? i believe i've tried everything and i have no clue of what to do...
So I just recently got the Asus VG30VQL1A Ultrawide Monitor and after setting it up with my Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 15IHU6, it's "stuck" at 60hz. I'm using the HDMI cable it came with as the laptop only has HDMI (no DP). It doesn't have any other option aside from 60hz on the Windows Advanced Display Settings. Display Settings also doesn't show on the Nvidia Control Panel so I can't change anything there.
Is there anything else I should do?
Thanks in advance.
Currently I have just bought the LG UltraGear 34GP63AP-B and thanks to some generous return policy I still have a few weeks to return it. After purchasing this screen I discovered that I can order a SAMSUNG LC34J791 ultrawide screen for around 100 euros less via my employer, thanks to tax reasons.
Just to give a perspective, the LG cost me 400 euros while the Samsung LC34J791 would cost me around 300 euros of lost end of year bonus, original price of the Samsung is 600 euros.
So is it worth it to return my LG and order the Samsung instead to save 100 euros or would this be a huge downgrade? I am aware that the Samsung is 100hz instead of 160hz like the LG but I am not sure if I will notice the difference coming from a 60hz screen my whole life.
Just to be clear the SAMSUNG LC34J791 is the only ultrawide that my company offers for sale.
How does everyone have their Taskbar set up? I've got the asus rog 49inch and have split it three ways via display fusion. I'm having trouble with the Taskbar showing over windowed games in the Centre screen. Have tried setting it to auto hide but if the mouse touches the bottom of the screen then it reveals again over the game.
Thanks friends
Hi!
Recently became a proud owner of the Odyssey G9. Not the Neo unfortunately, though perhaps there will be an upgrade.
I would like some more desk real estate though. I would love to be able to have the monitor alost 1m away from me. Right now the stand is right next to the wall, and I wonder how much closer to the wall would I be able to go with Ergotron HX? Is it a lot closer? It it negliable?
Of course, I could move the desk a bit away from the wall too, but would prefer not to.
Thanks in advance!
My 8k hdmi cable gives max resolution on laptop A but not laptop B. The issue is laptop A and B are identical laptops, so it doesn't make sense why it shouldn't.
Anyone know what's going on?
Hey I've just placed an order for this monitor for £350 and I was curious if there was a better alternative. I'm looking for my first ultrawide in 1440p with atleast 120hz, I also wanted a slight curve which lead me to this choice. Considering this monitor is a couple years old now is there a better alternative for under £450? I would have liked IPS but heard the Dell screen is good and can do okay HDR too.
Been a minute since I've been looking for a monitor and I feel inundated by marketing terms. Q, mini, micro, nano, etcetera. But every fancy monitor ends up being a VA panel, and I got away from VA panels more than a decade ago. I legit have been unable to find an IPS 32:9 240Hz.
Have things changed with VA panels? I used to hate their viewing angles that seems even more important with such a wide monitor.
I know, what about OLED, It beats IPS in nearly every category. Well I have a OLED phone with burn in and an OLED TV with burn in, so I'd rather not fall into that trap again.
Have I missed some majestic IPS monitor? Is my hatred of VA panels out of date? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Wanted to play at ultrawide 1440p at 144 Hz. Which cable should I get that would support it for my 6800XT GPU?
I was thinking Display Port 1.4, on amazon it says 8K rating. Not sure if this would suffice: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0B1MZZX5S/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1YK04EZPMQTFQ&psc=1
Over the years I've seen various posts with issues about getting damaged or flawed Samsung ultrawides, RMAs and returns. Now that the price and release date have been announced for the new 57" I'd like to order one and I'd appreciate any advice on where to buy it from or who to avoid.
Hi ultrawide community, been reading up here and on PowerToys Fancy Zones and Display Fusion. I seem to have missed info on this:
I'm trying to display a series of ten 10:3 (approx 32:9) images as a slide show, onto a 10:3 LED Wall that is currently hooked up to a led wall image processor, then a windows CPU. The CPU is also connected to a standard monitor.
PowerPoint always adds black bars. The above programmes don't talk much about single image (more in terms of having different windows arranged on a wide screen). Do they also allow single 32:9 image?
On top of that, can I make one of the images a video-in-picture?
Thanks!
Hey all,
I recently got a Samsung Oled G8 Ultrawide Monitor and I accidentally via my sit/ stand desk broke my DisplayPort cable since it was too short going from my pc tower to my new G8 Samsung Monitor.
I have a GTX 4080 and I need atleast a 8-10ft cable (Display Port to Mini Display Port Cable) that is of high quality that I can hook up to my system.
Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Hey gamers, so I just made the jump to ultrawide (I bought a LG 34WP65C-B) And i was wondering if some of you had recommendation on games to play to really enjoy the 21:9 experience. Thanks a lot!
