Will reddits api changes be the end of apps like this?

Basically the writing on the wall is that third party apps are doomed. These gotta basically be 3rd party apps surely they are doomed too? Is this the end of reddit wallpaper changers.

Lock Screen Wallpaper not updating, Android

Using the app on Pixel 7 pro, latest Android QPR beta The app fails to update the lock screen Wallapaper, when using the main action button. Even when selecting 'only lock' option, the homescreen wallpaper gets updated.

But the lockscreen wallpaper is updated if set manually from history.

Please look into this.

Blacklist images?

Is there a way to flag certain images to prevent the app from using them? It keeps pulling up some shitty art that I'm tired of looking at.

Reddit Wallpaper Changer - Desktop Version

Hi everyone, I've created a fork of u/Ugleh and u/Rawns desktop version of Reddit Wallpaper Changer. It's based on v1.0.13 so the features added in v1.0.14 are not yet implemented (but maybe ported later). I've also added support for hotkeys, and some bug fixes

You can download the latest release on GitHub

Any problems or suggestions please PM me or create a new issue on GitHub (Pull requests also welcome!)

Hope you enjoy :)

No worke

Y no worke?
No matter what I did it didn't work. I added firewall exception, reinstalled and no difference. I don't what's wrong or how to fix it.
And when I tried to upload log windows gave me "Unhandled exception" error. Why ?! It is exactly what I was searching for😭
I'm hoping y'all have any idea what to do

Window's 10 cannot bring up the UI when clicking or RW.exe

I just downloaded this program. It seems to work fine, but when I click on the RW.exe the user interface does not open. Has anyone else with this problem figured it out?

Android: filters don't get applied properly

I played around with filter settings right after the purchase and figured that they don't work as expected. I turned them on and off again, applying to both or home screen only. As a result, the grayscalefilter gets applied to all images, despite the fact that all filters are turned off.

Desktop ERROR: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel

I'm running u/Rawns' desktop version 1.0.13.0 on Windows 7 and has stopped updating the wallpaper. The error log is full of

"ERROR: Reddit server error: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel."

Should I be using u/mamiglia's app instead?

I created a new Wallpaper Changer!

Reddit-Wallpaper

Tired of your old always-the-same wallpaper? This program is what you are searching for!

RW is a user-friendly program that changes your wallpaper periodically with images chosen from a set of subreddits through a non-repetitive pattern, meaning that as long as you have internet connection your wallpaper will be constantly updated with the best images of your favourite subreddit!

It got me a lot of time but it's finally stable, and really easy to install!

The idea came from a RWC which unfortunately is really outdated and no longer maintened. So I took my opportunity to write a completely new software that would've been just how I imagined it.

Check it out!

App broken on android ?

For a few days now, the app no longer works on my two Android devices. The pictures do not update, neither on their own nor when I trigger it.

When I change the settings (e.g. switch to a preset) and then want to apply it, the process hangs at "Finding images in subreddit"(see this screenshot). This happens both with self-selected subreddits and with the presets.

I am still able to choose one of the pictures from the gallery. But since I had it only for a few days before it broke, there are sadly only a few pictures.

Tried the following:
Close app, wipe cache & wipe data, uninstall, reinstall - still the same error.

Tested on the following devices:
OnePlus 5, Android 10
Lenovo Tab P11, Android 10

App excluded from battery policy on both devices

App Settings on both devices:
Preset: Minimal, apply to both, sorted by hot
hide NFSW: on
skip duplicates: on
tablet mode: off
force HD: on
filter by upvotes: on, minimum score 5

Any idea that could be the reason? Or what I could try to make it work again?

edit: changed formatting

Support for NSFW subreddits

I've tested the app on /r/spaceporn and /r/wallpapers and it worked great. But if I put any NFSW subreddit it gives up after several tries no matter that nsfw:yes flag.

Is there any way to enable it for nsfw?

Help with reddit API

I am building something similar to wallpaperchanger using Go language go-wallpaper. I am using reddit API like this https://www.reddit.com/r/wallpapers/.json. It worked for a while, after that it started giving me 429 Too Many Requests error. I have tried changing user-agent but it did not work. I have also registered for reddit API, but I don't know how to use those client id, client secret values. Can anyone help me get around this?

Add Letterboxing option

This is for the great android app by /u/chibichuba. Thanks for this, as its much better than other reddit live wallpaper/wallpaper changer apps I've tried.

I use it primarily on a tablet perpetually in landscape mode, so I really appreciate the option to prefer landscaped images. Unfortunately, most artwork these days are made for portrait phones so the amount of wallpapers across the 2 or 3 subs I link to is really limited.

There is a cropping and centering option, which is great and a feature which no other live walpaper app seems to be able to implement. I was wondering, in addition, if an option for letterboxing could be created, where black bars are added to portrait images in landscape mode.

Seems it shouldn't be too difficult to implement since its a compliment to the cropping option. Something along the lines of get images vertical resolution, calculate the horizontal resolution required to match the display aspect ratio, fill in the missing pixels to the left and right side of the image with black, then apply the new image. As a bonus option, instead of black you could use a blurring effect (like what is used when vertical videos are uploaded to youtube to make the empty space seem less empty). Or a gradient customizable from the settings.

Anyway, just a thought for an improvement. It would really open up a lot more backgrounds for landscape users. Thanks for reading!
