Looks like a cockroach – we've got a bunch at my house. But it doesn't look like any of the other cockroaches. What's up with it? Also, I'm scared of cockroaches.
Durham, North Carolina. Does anyone recognize these growths on the wall in my very humid laundry room? I thought maybe the nest of mad dauber wasps but can’t quite tell? Thanks!
I don't have a photo so I'm going to try and describe them as best as possible.
I went to my friend's house last night. She lives in southeast Maryland. There's a bush on either side of the staircase leading to her porch.
When you walk near/past, a massive swarm of what looks like large, blackish grayish flies comes up out of both bushes and zooms around, but settles again quickly after.
With the way they were swarming I thought they were bees at first.
I've never seen this kind of thing before, and I've tried searching for swarming flies but the only thing I'm finding is cluster flies, and 99% of the info is about them being inside the house not outside in the bushes, so I'm not sure if this is the right thing.
Any ideas? I can ask her for pics of the bushes and see if she can get one of the flies if needed. They're pretty fast though.
This morning I walked passed my kitchen and heared some rustling sound coming from inside. After looking around and hearing it frequently make some rustling sound, I finally found an insect on its back. It seems to be struggling in a pool of light red liquid. There was also a small blob of darker red gel. After getting it on its feet, it instantly got on it's back again while struggling. I wish I made pictures but it was gross. Seems to be dying so I put it out the window.
It looks like a waterbeetle.
Any one have any ideas what might have happened to this insect? I live near the beach in Hong Kong but there are no fresh water ponds nearby. I see them rarely but never in a pool of blood like that.
So i posted about a dead leaf insect a day ago(turns out that yes, it was dead)
To preserve her i went and took out her organs so she would dry and not start to smell real bad, because she is very big and would never fully dry with the organs intact.
When i was emptying her abdomen i ran into about 20 unlaid eggs. most of them were red and soft and i knew that these would rot for sure. however, i also found two black/darkgrey eggs with a hard shell, they look just like laid eggs from this species. so i am wondering, of course, is it in any way possible to hatch these eggs and make the leaf insect a mom post mortem?
:)
What insect is this? It looks like a roach/spider thing…couldn’t focus well but it also had like dots.
Name of the species? thx in advance👍
These neat rows of eggs were found on a dead cherry branch in southern Iowa. Beneficial insect or horticultural pest?
Found him eating my flower, does anyone know what kind of butterfly/moth species is this?
