My Foxbody has old engine mounts. When I hop on the freeway and drive for a while I notice a tapping sound coming from the engine bay. It has a rough idle and when I press the gas it makes a similar tapping noise. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas to what that would be and if that noise would be the motor mount.
Okay so I plan on staying na, and the car is a daily driver. So stroker it is, iam wondering could I get 400 wheel hp from a 347 stroker relatively easily and reliably? Iam 20 this is my first major car build I grew up building trucks. Bear in mind though I have the stopping part down, car is full 5 lug converted disk brake front and rear and has wide sticky tires all around. Car has a harness bar and 4 point harnesses. My main goal for the car is a fast street car/ roll race car I don’t really do a bunch of clutch dumping or launching at the strip. I just simply want to be able to give some newer performance cars a run for their money. If this was y’all’s goals how would you do it and what would be a ruff cost analysis. Also I know young guy high hp cars. Not a good combo but I currently drive a motorcycle that makes 10 less horse power then my Foxbody I think I’ll be alright
From what I have seen from Richard Holdners work on 302s, the cam is worth, at best +30hp if paired with good intake, exhaust, and heads. I'm seeing the 185 sve heads to be the best CNC head price ~1300/pair. I may do a cam later but right now, Im fine with the factory cam. I dont race, just a hobby/street car. The instinaltion guide on the LRM site states:
"Valve Springs are rated up to .600 Lift, Piston to valve clearance MUST BE MEASURED & CHECKED on any cam greater than .500 lift to verify proper clearances."
I see that the factory cam in our cars was .444/.444 lift.
Can I then bolt on these heads without real concern for for PTV clearance even though the intake is larger than the factory reliefs? My goal is incremental gains, that maxamize the time the car is on the road while not breaking the hobby budget. I dont need to chase the 5% gains but I understand that these heads would net more lile 70+hp, which makes them an obvious next choice for me.
Thoughts?
I’m in the process of welding in my subframe connectors and jacking rails. Rear is on ramps and is it possible to remove upper control arms safely while on ramps? I need to install the upper reinforcement plates and new control arms
My 86 5.0 wasn’t idling right so I unplugged the spout connector to try and reset the timing. My tachometer immediately stopped working and stayed this way even with the spout connector back on. The weirdest part is the tachometer works when the starter runs and then stops when the car is running. I have no clue what is going on and its driving me crazy.
Aint quite a mustang but still a fox. I have a 81 fairmont any idea if a mustang roll bar bolts up I have the opportunity to get a maximum motorsports bar cheap but worried it won't fit
I replaced the bulbs in my instrument cluster because I had a few out and after putting everything back together I now only have the check engine and the battery and I believe the brake light that work. Everything else is completely black. My dimmer is up and my headlights work. Any idea what I could have done?
Hi guys - figure I would throw this out there if any of you all are running a side mounted hi Ram.
For the 95mm TB or hell even the 105mm size, have you all found a throttle body that has the correct cable linkage to work with a side mounted design? Seems like most throttle bodies in this size are designed for the TB be mounted at the front of the motor.
Thanks
As the title suggests I have a carbureted 5.0 that i want some advice for, I am mainly going to use it for track and want to get decent power and a high redline its got a 650cfm Edlebrock (might be way too much but would like to stick with it) and air gap intake, afr heads but not sure which ones and think its cam'd but again no idea. Mostly wonder what would be a good cam and heads, then for a radiator ect if anyone has any advice. Thanks for any help. :)
