Possible grubworms in the house

Hi. I hope I am in the right subreddit and please tell me if I am in the wrong one. I believe I have some gubworms in my house/ in my couch. What is the best way to get rid of them. I have pets. Thank you in advance

Are fire ants safe to eat?

I was thinking about collecting some red imported fire ants and making them into bug lollipops or other dishes. Are there any risks doing this?

Cicadas!

The double emergence is coming up soon; I was hoping to hear anyone's stories about cooking brood X back in '21? Successes, failures, tips tricks advice?

I've heard they didn't saute well.

I'm thinking blanched and baked or maybe deep fried on a pizza, pasta or salad.

What do you think?

im writing a literature review on entomophagy (vaguely, more specifically on why western cultures haven't widely adopted it yet and how that could be changed) for one of my classes!! i hate writing papers but this one has made me extremely hungry

What are some of your favorite bug snacks ?? thinking I might buy some once this paper is finished :P

EntoLife Crickets

Well, I just tried some entolife crickets, indian curry flavor. I was surprised by how bland they were. First time eating crickets, was expecting ... more LOL. Anyone else try these? I have a few other flavors.

Frozen Brood X Cicadas

I have a few tupperware containers filled with Brood X cicadas. They have been in the freezer since they emerged. Are they good to stir fry at this point? It has been since 2021.

Are there any other considerations I should make in the pursuit of safety? How about flavor/recipes/etc?

I am not married to the stir fry idea if there is a better way to enjoy them. I just... really like stir fry and this seems like it would be a fun way to broaden my horizons.

Thanks, entomophagy. Perhaps this will be my first step into a bigger world.

Cricket flour ideas for foodies?

I’ve enjoyed a few bug dishes at restaurants before but I’m trying to get more into cooking with them. Cricket flour is usually recommended as a relatively accessible starting point. Whenever I try searching for cricket flour recipes, they always treat it as just another protein powder. I’m not interested in masking the cricket flour flavor in a brownie, protein bar, protein shake, bread or whatever. I want to explore its potential as a culinary flavor element in its own right. I should also add: I don’t eat meat aside from bug meat and the occasional fish. I don’t care much for the flavor of cricket flour by itself. It’s kind of bitter, but just the same I wouldn’t eat raw tofu, tempeh, quinoa or whatever by itself. It’s best when cooked into something. I’ve considered using it to bread other ingredients, but it’s probably not starchy enough for that. I’ve considered adding it to a marinade sauce, maybe making a tortilla out of it, or putting in a broth for savory flavor like how one might add a dried mushroom or miso. Maybe it might taste good with berber spices and fried plantains? I’m just curious if anyone has any success with bringing out the flavors. Thanks!

Looking to Buy Honey Bees and Moths

Doing a project about insects for human consumption so anyone here knows of websites that ship honey bees and moths (for human consumption) to Asian countries (I know Thailand Unique is one such website but trying to look for more sources to do price comparison heh)? Information on websites selling mealworms, crickets, grasshoppers, locusts, silkworms and beetle grubs are also welcome! Thank you everyone for the help in advance!!

Bug Trap/Breeding for food

I live in east Texas where we have a ton of insects, from grasshoppers to crickets and June bugs, etc, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good idea for a trap to attract and catch some of the tastier bugs en mass, and then a set up to keep them breeding for insect meat all year long.

Where do Brazilians can buy edible insects?

Hey, guys! Do you know somewhere to buy insects with delivery to Brazil? There's a while I'm searching for, and can't find any. Therefore, I would like to know if there's any risks in eating insects not appropriately made for humans, such as the pet food ones.

Is ThailandUnique shop reliable?

I could only find one review on reddit from several years ago. Has anyone here ever ordered from them? Their prices are way cheaper than European shops but I'm afraid of the quality. I'd be interested in getting cricket flour from them, as anyways most shops in Europe are just reselling stuff from Asia.

I've always wanted to keep dubia roaches but I've had nothing to feed them to when things get out of control. So could you refeed some dubias and eat them?
