Hi 29M here. I live in downtown. I am thinking about trying out the intro to climbing/bouldering class in the base camp. I am looking for someone to join me for the class. They have two locations - one in Bloor and Bathurst and another in Queen W and Spadina. I am good with either location.

FYI the intro class costs $45+HST and includes rental gears, two hours of class and a day pass.

Hey there, I was wondering if anyone here was interested in playing Squash weekly at my local YMCA. The one downside is that if you don't already have a membership/are going to that specific Y, I believe we'd need to go halfsies on the per-use fee, which I think is like 13$, split is around 6.5.

I'm a beginner who likes Tennis, looking for a physical activity to do during the winter. Getting bookings for the courts is tough but doable a few days out. Times would need to either be early mornings or later in the evening due to this.

Hello everyone, I'm someone who's been living in Toronto for about 26 years now...

And I simply wanted to share some stories of people of Toronto and my thoughts.. Because I always loved people and I believe the people who come to this community are interested in others and seek companies.

I've gone through ups and downs of my life in Toronto mostly, met many folks in many situations... Different backgrounds, different philosophies, different motives and purposes... All of these people I've met... I try to remember because what's more amazing than a person's life?..... I just find it all a beautiful mess..

I remember a young lady from Hong Kong, she knew no one here, left her family to study.....was going to a great school and wanted to help her family care for a sick baby sister back home.. I wouldn’t have guessed that because she was like a ball of light in a crowd to others… with a lot of energy and glow.. It must have taken her a lot of courage and dedication to come here I'd say .... she was interning at my friend's company then, and she is now working at one of the major banks I heard... She loved cats and had cat piercings as well haha.

A popular local cafe owner in his 40s... His life looked perfect to me.. a beautiful store and he was happy with his wife and a husky.... I'd say I was a regular goer for about 6 years give or take a year... and we made friends... One day when I came back from a trip and hadn't been to the store for some months, I saw that he's sold the place, I ask him how come... He said he was going through a divorce.. because he made a mistake and he couldn't forgive himself for it... One of the regulars wanted to make love to him and he fell for it, then she was gone.. he, or both of them knew they'd done wrong.. and he realised that he was also dragging out the bad marriage when they ain't truly happy..... Shit happens I guess... Last I heard, after the divorce he split whatever the store was worth with his wife, he spent the rest of his money to build a non-profit org.. trying to help kids in need... He always wanted kids but he said he doesn't deserve it no more... He's been at it almost 10 years now I believe.

This lady in her 60s I've met at a Catholic church, I'm not a believer sorry to say.... However I'm a fan trying things out and I've always been interested in religious ceremonies and their architecture.. I was attending a service one Sunday, taking photos of the interiors afterwards, and chatted a bit with this curious lady... Told her why I'm here... She jokingly scolded me that I should accept God into my life and we both laughed a little... I guess she needed company that day... Her friend passed away two days prior... And her friend was apparently a thrifty and Scrooge-like lady… she left her husband years ago and took her kids to Canada… and I guess that led her to try to save every single penny, considering being a single immigrant mom isn't easy while trying to secure her children’s future… so her kids must be grateful for her mother ain’t you think? Turns out their father actually had an accident at work and couldn’t walk no more back home… the kids didn't know until they've grown and heard from their relatives after they've graduated… So the there was a whole emotional conflict between the mom, the kids and the father… but fate be damned… the mom who stressed out, tried to raise the kids right was diagnosed with a terminal cancer… she chose to get euthanised since every waking moment was a torture to her… every movement caused her pain… so she was in bed, leaving her last words in front of her kids, and they put her to sleep… I can’t imagine the emotional waves the kids must be going through…

It was when I was much younger as a student.. My university had this gal few years above me who was possibly one of the smartest persons I’ve met even now.. If you guessed that I might have a tiny feeling for the gal, you guessed right haha… However the problem was that she couldn't handle the young fellas around her for our stupidity and immaturity… And she had all the rights to think so. So when romance abounded for her, it was definitely with someone.. “superior” let’s say… like one of the young professors or her bosses… Years gone by and we were both around late 20s.. We’ve got common friends so sometimes we got to talk.. One day she calls me up, trying to catch up. I say sure.. We grab lunch and I find that she’s already making six figures, whew. And she got into some affairs, because, well… she found a hot one that matched all her needs… the problem was.. It was an affair between two ladies.. She was stealing her lady boss from her husband… apparently they’ve never been to any homosexual relationships but something “sparked” haha… this was many years ago and I just checked her facebook.. She’s married to the lady and looking happy.. I do not know what happened to the ex-husband in this mess…

I know it is getting long and don’t want to bore ya, so I’ll keep it brief about the people… The interesting people I’ve met and remember… 

A couple in 40s and 30s with 14 years age gap who met in California studying to be medical doctors but decided to open gift shops in Toronto somehow… they are great neighbours who help community now… but they apparently cut ties to their parents because they’ve opposed the marriage and immigration… (You never know what happens in life huh.. )

A couple in their 50s with the healthiest bodies I’ve ever seen… Apparently they’ve wanted babies like no other… they have tried real hard for decades but fate didn’t allow them.. Whenever we sat down to have some drinks.. The wife always seemed a bit shy and guilty… the husband sad and a bit spiteful, not to the wife but to their fate… worried about the childless future where one passes first and one is left alone…

Meanwhile this young woman in her mid 20s already married because she needs to make everything perfect and make sure she has the highest chance of success for her “offsprings”... I believe the couple had their first baby and I feel like their parenting methodologies will be quite harsh…

Why all these stories you say…..

Well.. I think stories of people give all of us perspective, no… and every story I am told, I feel my perspective goes wider and deeper... Because often times people who we expect the least amount of surprises will surprise us good or bad… And I feel we all carry a scar or two.. A luggage or two… We’re all struggling… we all make a mistake or two… but the world now is obsessed with not forgiving a mistake and people assume that person now is the number one criminal that deserves to be on the TV news… Whenever someone cross you, you turn into their enemy.… doesn’t sound right don’t it… I get it we are frustrated about injustice of real crimes… but we are trying to hurt each other among us when there is no crime but conflict of emotions.. 

Seeing the world only in two colours of black and white.. Right or wrong.. While life is full of grey…

It is emotionally burdening to deal with people.. I know. Messy things can happen.. A lot of us wish people to be perfect and clean… But we are all humans…. We are messy beings, yes… But we are gifted with hearts that can carry forgiveness.. Head with imagination to empathise with one to another.. But because it is too much work.. We just go on hating people and not forgiving them no matter what…

I just want to say… keep your heart open.

We can be the bigger person than the ones you despise and forgive…

We can be the person who don’t assume and get disappointed in another human being…. 

Not everyone is just right or wrong.. 

Not everyone is perfect…..

We all do right and wrong.. Sure.. maybe another person did a bigger wrong to you… but maybe they did something quite right to another…we never know..

Everyone is hurt at some point and maybe that’s why we did wrong.. But we all need somebody to help us along the way… It doesn’t have to be you.. And maybe they are not the one for you… but we don’t have to hate… when we are all just a beautiful mess…..

Turning 29, Oct 28th. I'm busy with moving to a new apartment this week. But honestly all's I wants is a few good buddy's in crime to kick back and play 4 player Mario Party, online or IRL, and to do it consistently weekly on the weekend or something.
