We created a tandem trike with an Utah Trikes coupler so we can take my dad on bikes rides (he is a lifelong cyclist but now has dementia and can no longer steer or brake safely himself). I’m getting a little worried about his balance while on the seat, would like to add some “arms” to it (one would need to swing away for access), or perhaps a five point harness. (It’s a delta style trike, with the current seat back a wide and tall mesh rectangle. We jokingly call it the lawn chair seat.) Not having much luck online. Anyone done something like this? Thanks for your help!
Hello! My name is Sydney, and I am a student at The University of Sydney currently enrolled in a User Experience Design Studio class. As part of my research project, my group is conducting a study on the interactions and engagement of individuals with visual impairments or blindness in various sport and recreational activities.
In order to better understand the unique perspectives and experiences of individuals with visual impairments, I am reaching out to ask whether anyone (who is legally blind) would be willing to fill out this 15 minute survey (link below) or conduct a 15 minute virtual interview with us. Participants do not need to have an interest in sport to participate, we want to hear from everyone!
Thanks so much for your time!

Hey Everyone!
I am a graduate student in the University of Oregon's Sport Product Design program and am looking for information about adaptive skiing! Particularly those of you that may have raced! I'm looking to redesign the race kit for LW10-12 athletes and would appreciate any help that you all may be able to provide! Experience is necessary but you do not need to have a lot of it! DM me directly or answer the following questions in the chat! Thank you for your time and help!

Please let me know if this space isn’t for me! I have a coworker who uses an electric wheelchair and has very limited use of his limbs. Over the years I’ve been trying to hack ways for him to come join me on adventures. He’s an outdoors guy and chair accessible transportation sucks (bus/lyft/rentals) and I go out a lot. Last year we figured out how to get him on a raft - for the first time ever - and floated for 5hrs. It worked well, learned some things, and he had a great time. This year I’m trying to figure out how to get him sledding. All I can read online are expensive ways to do these things, and we are not fancy people with expendable incomes. I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas, or have done a “make-do” set up for the snow? My best idea is to buy a harness for pulling, he can get down the hill in a tube, someone can pull him up. We can design a warm space for him to be in when we aren’t being active- he won’t have a chair on the mountain, as we can’t transport his motor chair. Again, I know this space wasn’t designed for me, and I apologize to disrupt the group. If my question is removed, I have no hard feelings. Thank you in advance!
Hello Everyone, I'm a Master's student at the University of Oregon, part of the Sports Product Design Program. I'm currently working on a project that focuses on developing a new product for paralympic table tennis players. Specifically, class 6 players, that might rely on adaptive gear to play. Therefore, I want to help develop a new product that can enhance control, comfort, and performance, all while considering aesthetics. If this description fits you or anyone you know (you don't have to be a Paralympian), please help me by completing this survey: https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLScJRX2v3rsuSJ.../viewform Your response will be super valuable in the development of new gear for para table tennis! Don't miss this chance! feel free to also share your experiences and current set up in the comments !
I am a product design student at the University of Oregon looking for wheelchair tennis athletes to interview and gain insights into their experiences with gloves or hand wraps. The end goal is to design a glove that is easier to don and doff and makes the overall playing experience more about the game and less about the equipment.
My local ski resort doesn’t allow ski bikes but it’s my only way as I have a knee dislocation problem so I am unable to ski or snowboard anymore do you think there’s a way they would allow me to use my ski bike I just miss the slopes so much
My 12yo was an adaptive snowboarder but for reasons he will be transitioning to a sit ski rig this season. What, if any, of the equipment is tax deductible as DME? I figure there are more knowledge people here due to experience that any of the tax sub reddits.
I’m looking at joining a league that’s kinda local. They apparently provide sleds and sticks to loan if you don’t have your own, but I need my own pads. Problem is - I never played ice hockey (watching it for decades as a fan so I’m familiar with the game), but I have no clue - what do I need and where can I get it?
I'm a LBKA and have just started golfing, so if you have any wisdom that you care to share, please do. The sub r/Adaptivegolf is sitting around with no input, so you can post over there as well. Thanks!
Hi, I'm not a skater myself (although one of my kids is), but I'm a student studying mechanical engineering and I'm planning on going into the adaptive/accessibility device field. I am hard of hearing and expect to be profoundly deaf soon and also am partially blind in one eye. I also was a part time care giver to my mother who was in a wheelchair for a good portion of the last 10 years of her life, so I have a strong interest in accessibility.
I'm currently in a group project that the others wanted to do a solar powered skateboard and I wanted to bring an adaptive aspect to it. I have found some ways to add some things for the blind/low vision people, but I haven't really found anything for those with other physical disabilities. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
Would the type of wheel make a difference? It seems a softer wheel might adjust to imperfections in the ground surface better. But, since I'm not a skater, I could be wrong. I'd greatly appreciate any input. Thanks!
