You probably want all your electronics to run on the 18650 lithium-ion cell. You just don't know it yet.

This subreddit is dedicated to the promotion of the 18650 battery and consumer electronics that run on individual, field-replaceable 18650 cells. Anything sealed inside or soldered in place doesn't count. For 18650-powered flashlights, see /r/flashlight. For vaporizers, see /r/electronic_cigarette.

It's looking like 2 of these are bad (in a decent charger, stays "red", 2 go green). Curious what they likely are (I'm aware they might be something of a unicorn) and if there's anything too special needed to replace them for powering a rather decent bike light.
Would I be correct in assuming these have been shrink wrapped and I should be removing the wrap to check them?
Heard if they get damaged in any way they should be tossed,, this count?
Is this a safe idea? Providing all of the cells are still good of course. Does anyone know the amp failure rating of the fuse "plate" on the negative terminal?

I'm planning to build my own 7s3p battery pack (with 21700) and I've learned that it's quite important that cells never touch each other, especially those in serial connection. In particular, that I shouldn't trust their wrap to do isolation.
Since I'm confident with 3D printing, I've printed my own casings in ABS, but I'm not sure whether it would be better to use the full length one, or the shorter one, that only holds the top and bottom.
The reason I've doubts is that the shorter one may help with heat dissipation.
Im looking for semi diy powerbank where i only need to buy good set of 18650 and put it on powerbank. You guys have any recommendation? Im looking for powerbank thats rather compact say 6-8 batteries.
Thanks.
My laptop finally bit the dust, so I harvested the cells out of it to hopefully make a battery pack for my DJI fpv goggles. Not sure identifying them even matters, but it would ease my nuerosis at least 😂 they don't have much text on them, the only text I could make out that was consistent across the cells was UE5VAY5 which didn't yield any results in google. I'm hoping/guessing they are some sort of Sanyo cell but I don't know much about batteries yet
Hey all, I'm currently designing a parallel charger for all my cells, and any future ones I may acquire. I want some sort of holder similar to the ones that the lii-500 uses, I can't seem to find anything like it for sale. I want to be able to fit 18650, 20700, 21700, 26650, ect.. all in the same holder
Can anyone help with cell equivalent/alternative to LG ICR18650B4?

I'm trying to replace some in a NP1 style rechargeable battery. Cheers!
I have a 12v cordless drill.Is ok to upgrade the battery from 3x18650 5c to 3x 18650 10c?
Hello folks!
My trimmer stopped working and won't charge, but I tested the cell and still holds charge. I took upon myself to dismantle it to try and troubleshoot but found no loose wire, dead battery, or corrosion. Could it be a bad PCB battery regulator?
The battery is a inr 18650 2200mah /w PCB saudered to main board
If anyone has info or maybe a good replacement would be great. Thank you!
What kind of problem is it? When I charge my battery sometimes charger will stop charging and show that the battery is full but when I take it and put it back again its starting to charge back. Happens no matter how much charge there is, sometimes on 20% sometimes on 40%. Charger - Fenix are d1
so i am doing a small power bank, with 3 easily removed 18650, that i will charge outside, just to run a small 12v fan for days where the power is out for one reason or another, and i want to add a cutoff module, i don't need voltage regulator, as it will be 3s and the fan will run fine stronger or weaker but fine either way, and i don't need a BMS, i just need to cut the fan off under 2.7v-3V per cell or 8.1V-9V the whole thing to protect the batteries in itself.
thing is when looking online, BMS or charging modules are cheaper than cuttoff and that is kind strange, what keywords should i be looking for ?
Hey guys. I need your help. My new 21700 Molicel 4500 mah Li-ion batteries smell sweet like syrup. Should I dispose of them? The smell is light as in I have to put them close to my nose in order to barely smell it.
Also, I noticed a white substance coming out of these specific areas of my charger "Vapcell S4 Plus V 3.0. It appears to me it came out of the metal contacts. Not a whole lot but enough to notice. One battery had a tiny bit of white substance on it.
Brand new charger and brand new batteries. Both have only been used twice and am already having problems. I wonder which is to blame, the charger or batteries. Probably the batteries as my NiMH batteries appear to be fine.
I hope this has nothing to do with leaving my flashlight on medium setting for 7 hours, Sofirn Q8 plus. I assume this should not affect the batteries.
Could these be put to use in an 18650 welder?
Hello all. Sorry if this has been asked to death I cant seem to find an answer to this. Saw a video where someone combined several 10s4p to create a 20s12p pack. He spot welded them but said you could solder them together if you dont have access to a spot welder. Can anyone explain the process or link to a video where existing packs are soldered together? Id prefer not to buy a spot welder for one use and I already have a pretty nice soldering iron. Thanks in advance.
I have a 20s battery pack that I made 2 years ago with only about 20-30 cycles on it. Can I safely add additional cells in parallel to increase capacity
Do I know what i'm doing? No Am I going to do it anyway? Yes Am I going to do it with a high level of quality? As best as I can lol
Hello all,
I purchased an XTAR vc8s on amazon. I optioned the kit to include the 45 Watt charger for best flexibility in charging. I did my research and am aware of the limitations and charging speeds. The charger is not performing. I’m attempting to charge 2 18650 Modlite protected cells at 3A in bays 1 and 5. Charging speeds is 1A on bay 1 and 500ma on bay 5. Ive tried with different combinations and different batteries (same modlite 18650’s) to no avail. I also tried 18350’s, same result. The 18350 wont charge past 500 in any configuration on the charger. Anyone have any ideas?
So I have a Milwaukee battery that has Samsung INR 18650-15m in it. And I found a old Dewalt battery that has been run over, but the cells are still good in it. And it has 18650-20r Cells in it. If I can't put those cells in it, I'm gonna have to scrap the whole project. Can I use them or will that not work?.
Looking for a ebike battery 60v. What cells should I be looking for? Which out of the line up I have stated is better? Samsung 50s? 50g? 50e?
I wonder where people on sales portals get depackaged cells from. They have thousands of pieces at good prices. Factory resistances and voltages and small marks on the ends. Where do they get them? I would also like to have these at even lower prices.
I salvaged around 60 18650 good capacity LG cells from some old modem batteries. Average around 2100 mah per cell. (out of rated 2200mah new I believe) 6s 10p configuration I built to extend the runtime on my Ecoflow River 2 via the solar input. I build the pack to handle 20 A max output, pushing the cells a bit at 2A current, but this BMS has 2 temp sensors inside the pack so hopefully it'll be fine. (BMS also has a heater connection, so may use that for the winter temps)
Open to improvements or suggestions.
Hoverboard battery Is not doing what i want it to, nominal 25.2v, battery connector reads 7.46v, not sure if there’s something wrong with the board or what b+ b- is 22.5v b+ b1 is 18v and so on continuously decreasing as I go to b- thru b6
I have some battery cases, enclosures from AliExpress that are for Mikta battery packs. Is there anyways to tell if the metal strips that came with the cases are nickel? If not and I need to make my own nickel strips, how do I get the right angle bends, turns and so forth that mimic the strips of metal that come with plastic battery cases for power tools?
Does anyone have any ideas, or examples of a diy cpap power bank? Just for emergency use so when the power goes out. USA Thanks to all.
